First had: on tap at Pinocchio's, Media, PA

Poured an opaque brown-black color, with a small, dense cap of creamy beige head that retained fairly well and left a bit of lacing on the glass. Roasty malts in the nose, some pine and earth, not quite intense enough for this to be compared to a CDA. Taste was solid, dark malts, bready, molasses, lighter notes of earthy and piney hops, and a touch of dried fruit, vaguely pruney. Not an overly distinctive brew, but quite good overall, medium-bodied, pretty smooth and easily drinkable.

On tap at Capone's.

A- Dark brown and a little indigo shades. Red highlights around the edges. A persistent half inch brown sugar thick head sits atop the brew. The glass becomes caked in sticky brown foam as you drink down.

S- Dry cocoa powder, a hint of chocolate syrup. Fairly plain on the nose though.

T- Sweet cocoa flavor followed by very bitter chocolate. Good roasty malts and a bit of strong espresso, real strong in fact. Surprisingly smoky on the backend too.

M- The mouthfeel is lacking for me, to thin and light. low to medium carbonation.

O- If you like cocoa powder and bittersweet chocolate this is for you. There's also a bit of smoky flavor in here that I personally welcome. But the mouth needs to be thicker for me to make this a real good brew.
