Incredible hops with a hint of fruitiness. The grapefruit sculpin is still probably my favorite, but if you like sculpin IPA this packs a bigger punch. This beer is very refreshing and highly drinkable. I highly recommend this beer.

Poured into a tall pint glass: color is copper, transparent, head is off white, presents about 1/4 inch thick then dissipates to a top and ring.

Smell is very pleasant, huge grapefruit and pine hop aroma, citrus is first followed by the strong earthy, pine notes; on the finish there is pleasant biscuit and toast malt flavor.

Taste is dry forward, then heads towards some lighter malt flavor, then the huge hop flavor over powers in the finish. Toast and biscuit malt are noted, hops are drying more earthy, piney. I can taste the strength of this beer but not the flavor of the alcohol.

Mouthfeel is where this beer does not connect with me, very drying and maybe overbittered, just the balance of the hop bitterness leaves an extreme dryness on my tongue.

Overall, a nice looking, great smelling, good tasting DIPA.

I'm trying to rate this without keeping the price in time. IMO, this beer is way, way too expensive for what you get in return. While it was still good, I'd take a Sculpin over this any day of the week. With that said, here goes:

A: Very nice. Clear orange with a great head that lingers. Also leaves sufficient lacing. Carbonation could be improved, however.

S: Lots of grapefruit, pine and caramel malt. Big emphasis on the grapefruit, however.

T: Initial taste of pine followed by heaps of grapefruit and sweet caramel malt. The grapefruit is probably the most prevalent of the flavors, as it lingers on the palate long after consumption.

F: Thick and sticky. Good.

O: A good beer, but I don't think it justified the price tag.

Looks pretty light. Smells nice, nothing crazy, some faint hops. Tastes very light for a DIPA. Not getting that 10% in the taste. Nice overall. I think I need to taste it again as the first beer of the night to form a better opinion.
