A - Pours a copper color with a white frothy head
S - Aroma is not strong, mostly i smell citrus
T - Bitter with hints of grapefruit
M - Medium mouth feel, not as sticky as some
O - Very good, I'd rate this just below the great DIPA's. Well balanced and seems very drinkable but that ABV will get ya.

Decent smell but i would like more. Tastes good but very dry. I wosh it had a bit more juicy hops to it. Comparable to hopslam but drier.

I wish there was a bottled on date... IPAs should be fresh to fully enjoy. Certainly a malty nose with hints of orange candy and pineapple. Taste is very balanced with sweet malts and sticky resinous pine (also a hint of sweet juice). A bit of booze in the finish but the 10% is well hidden. Complex and quite enjoyable - let it warm a bit!

12oz bottle, dated 15075 or March 16 by my measure, poured into a Ballast Point Victory at Sea snifter.

The beer pours a clear copper color, hues of amber and bronze, minimal activity in the glass with a thick, soapy finger and a half of off white head, lovely retention and loads of sticky lace. The aroma is really pine forward, resiny, sticky, sappy, bitter. Solid grapefruit peel sits behind it earthy grassiness, strong amber malt asserts itself well, sticky and sweet. The flavors are great, pine is the name of the game, resinous and oily, grapefruit peel provides a bit of citrusy tanginess and bitterness, snappy tropical fruits find their way out with wildflower and some nice grassiness with just a soft kiss of amber malt, gentle and lightly sweet. The mouthfeel is nice, very coating, bone dry, moderate carbonation, not quite juicy, but nice full body, cotton mouth finish.

Verdict: A great DIPA from Ballast Point, lots of pine, which normally I take exception to, but this works so well, lots of backing notes of citrus, tropical fruit, wildflower and gentle malt. The balance is wonderful and despite the high ABV, this remains so drinkable and the alcohol is exceptionally hidden.

I was expecting a booze bomb on this one, but was glad to drink another great brew from Ballast Point! Dorado did not measure up to Sculpin, but a solid DIPA that will not disappoint.
