On tap at the Brewery - Linda Vista
8oz pour into a BP Tulip glass – 06/26/2015

A: Lightly burnished golden amber body with some well-conditioned clarity. Has an almost brass like sheen to it. Limited bubble show with only a fizzy white foam collar achieved. Very low levels of any sticky suds noted.

S: Smells of wet grains and grasses with a little bit of corn or wheat husk likeness to it. I get a nice lemony tartness to this and a dash of that salty brine shining through. Not particularly fragrant but with the key elements present here.

T: Flavor follows a very plain and simple approach. Grainy malt base with a light refreshing lemon tartness and a semi-salty finish. Perhaps a bit of earthy grass like quality but aside from that a bit underwhelming. Seems to style but not much to write home about.

M: Mouth feel is a bit flat to me or at least most examples of this style I have had were more over-carbed with a Champagne like feel to them. This one kind of drags on the palate and finishes watery instead of that super dryness I look for.

D: Was really hoping for more from this one. Found it to be just okay...sure it has the standard tartness paired with a little brine action. Just a bit too heavy and wet in the feel for the style it seems.

Finally made it over to the new Ballast Point location off Miramar and it was amazing. Went through a decent amount of new beers while we were over there, this being one of them. This one was probably the most underwhelming. Just not much to it at all. Faintly tart, maybe a touch of lemon, but just nothing else going on. Mouthfeel was a little heavy, just no depth to it. Glad they're trying this style, but this just didn't do it for me.

On tap at the Linda Vista Road location. Aroma is quite robust with the variety of orange they brew this with. Tart mouthfeel but not vinegary. Quite salty. The fruit flavor is quite nice to start and then it has kind of a cardboard flavor. A better and more drinkable Gose than many, but not one for a satisfying quaff.
