I found some notes from the Extreme beer fest in 2016
I had this beer, it was a draft sample Sweet roasty caramel and light chocolate with a bit of sticky PB flavor.

Have had this a few times over the years, most recently in a flight with the High West BA, Pepermint, and Coconut versions.

Looks the same as the others. Definite peanut butter in the nose, less in the taste. Taste is good but not better than originals.

Overall a nice beer; better than the Coconut version and on par with the peppermint one depending on your mood, but no where near the BBA or normal versions.

Pours a beautifully marble brown cascading carbonation that slowly turns to black with a tan head. It seems promising at first, something that looks that soft and pillowy should follow through, but this doesn't.

This beer is shockingly bitter. I don't know how you make a peanut butter porter that is this bitter, and simply not smooth, but they did it. The peanut butter comes through but only in a light manner, then a bitter astringent porter flavor, which I'm not sure I've ever had in the style before.

Ballast Point is really going overboard with the variants on all their beers. They really didn't need to considering their success and the quality and popularity of their standby brews. Furthermore, there are dozens of big breweries making peanut butter+chocolate+even coffee stouts and porters that are way better than this.

On-tap at Congregation, on to the beer:

Victory at Sea is naturally a great beer, and this peanut butter version seems to cut a little of the coffee and sweetness from the flavor, and add a note of dry roasted peanut butter. The alcohol was noticable, sonething I recall the original being a little better with. For a different road down imperial porter way, this peanut butter version takes you on a cheerful ride.
