L - Dark brown - nearly opaque black - with a thick, creamy orangish-tan head that leaves behind a good amount of lacing.
S - Roasted, toasted malt and barley with a sweet hint of peanut butter. Slight notes of caramel, toffee, molasses, and vanilla.
T - Roasted toasted malt and barely up front with sweet peanut butter close behind. Notes of toffee, molasses, and vanilla intermixed throughout.
F - Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O - A decent porter overall but compared to the Coconut Victory at Sea, this one falls short in my opinion. The peanut butter flavor isn't as present as I would like and somehow the fantastic bitter, burnt/roasty/toastiness that was so prevalent in the Coconut version is missing from this iteration. Maybe it's the savory sweet peanut butter that's possibly overpowering vs the smooth, sweet coconut but again I wish the peanut butter flavor was more pronounced. Again, not a bad porter by any means and definitely worth a try.

L) Pours a lovely dark brown, only around the edge of the snifter is the beer translucent. It has a creamy, khaki head with decent retention.

S) The aroma is dominated by roasty, toasty, peanuts and lovely dark malt.

T) The taste is definitely peanut butter forward, with lovely roasted toffee and dark coffee flavors from the malt, but it also has a smidge of resin hoppiness to it that I think takes a wee bit away from the peanut butter and roast.

F) The body on this beer is quite nice, and is a bit silky, but I do wish it was a bit creamier and less carbonated to really accentuate the peanut butter characteristics.

O) I quite enjoyed this porter. I'm a sucker for PB beers in general, and this one is no exception, I just wish the PB was even further accentuated.

Pours opaque, dark brown in color with ¾ inch head. Taste is char, dark chocolate, and a touch of peanut butter. Heavy bodied, roasty, and medium-low carbonation. Would have preferred more peanut butter taste. Still makes for a solid stout.

Pours dark brown-black with a medium brown head. Aroma is chocolate and sweet coffee - more like cappuccino. Taste is similar - the peanut butter comes through in the second half of the swallow. Feel is a little too frothy and carbonated for my taste. Overall, it's a solid beer if you're looking to taste an alternative to the original Victory At Sea.

L - Dark brown with 1 full finger of head and some brown-white head

S - Peanut butter dominates, subtle coffee

T - Peanut butter totally dominates! Surprising because this brew has such strong coffee flavors in the standard version

F - Full body and medium carbonation

O - Not as good as the standard, but a decent side version

Let me begin by saying that the peanut butter is very subtle. As in almost so subtle that it's not even present. That being said, there's an underlying nuttiness here that seems to work. I don't know that I would call it peanut butter necessarily but there's definitely a nuttiness to this beer that brings an earthiness and smoothness to the finish. Chocolate is bitter sweet as always. I love the base beer and meaning of the variants have left me unimpressed but I do like this one. That being said I like the base beer even better. As it warms, the peanut butter aspect becomes more evident...

On the bottom of the bomber, in yellow dots: "VS159PB 17307 09:22"
Using a Julian Date Calendar it appears this was bottled on 03 NOV 2017.

Appearance: The body is black and it has a very thick, slightly creamy and slightly rocky, khaki head. It has amazing head retention and lacing. It looks fantastic and it has an amazing head for a beer with "ALC. 10.0% BY VOLUME" (as indicated by the label).

Aroma: I got a clear peanut aroma when smelling through the neck of the bottle. While smelling the beer in a glass the peanut scent is absent and replaced by a stronger espresso aroma. There is bit of green pepper and wet earth or autumn leaf scent to the beer.

Taste: Up front there are notes of coffee and chocolate. There is a strong carbon flavor that follows. The finish is more bitter dark chocolate which is nice and tasty.

Mouthfeel: It has a nice smooth full body. It finishes fairly dry.

Overall: Aside from the neck of the bottle there really wasn't any peanut butter aroma. I didn't get any peanut butter flavor from this beer. The Imperial Porter is excellent but if you are a fan of peanut butter this beer will leave you wanting something that tastes more like peanut butter. I would recommend buying a regular version of Victory at Sea and skipping this one because there isn't much of a difference.

Overall a solid porter, It tastes like a yummy and boozy iced coffee. However, it didn't have that peanut butter flavor I desired. There's definitely a nutty flavor but not peanut butter.
