On tap at the Pour Taproom (Greenville, SC).
Pours with a cloudy amber body and a generous, relatively dense, foamy off-white head that has very good retention and lacing.
Aroma: hoppy with grapefruit, other citrus, and other tropical fruit notes dominating.
Flavor: hops dominate the relatively strong flavor with faint bready malts. Moderate+ bitterness for style. More pine than the aroma suggests.
Mouthfeel: near medium body with soft, medium-high carbonation.
Overall: A fine variant on this world-class American IPA.

12oz bottle dated 3/29/16.. 2 weeks fresh in NH? Impressive.

Pours hazy gold with a copper hue and a moderate head. Retention is average but nice lacing. Aromatics are nice but not anywhere near the level of hops as many modern-day IPA's. Shades of pine, grapefruit, pear, and candied peach. Medium bodied with a crisp, lightly resinous mouthfeel. Pine-rubbed grapefruit leads the palate with a trace of malt and a firm bitterness. A bit warming on the throat with citrus following through. Finishes with some lingering pine resin and a pithy bitterness.

Nice beer and perhaps a bit more hoppy than the standard Sculpin, or maybe it's just the freshness giving that impression. Either way, what was once one of the hoppiest, most delicious IPA's available is now no longer in the top tier with such a myriad of hoppier, tastier options available.

Bottle to tulip glass.

I'm enjoying this (4th of my 6 pack) as much as I remember enjoying the regular sculpin. Does the unfiltered nature make it look better? Haziness, a plus? Does it smell better more aromatic with the sediment mixed in? Does the additional sediment give it a sturdier mouth feel? I'll buy two of the three, look and smell, but not the mouthfeel. Overall slightly higher marks than sculpin but basically the same beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a big rocky white head that retains well and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is subdued - sweet floral malt with a little fruit and plasticky hops.

The flavor is sweet bready cream malt with floral, slightly fruity hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation and is a bit watery.

Overall, pretty subdued for a sculpin with not much fruit.

Had on tap. Pours clear, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is grapefruit, lemon rind, with a touch of herbal hops. Very bitter, medium bodied, with moderate carbonation. A sipper of a beer. Of all the sculpins I have tried, this one is near the bottom. The bitterness hits, but the flavors do not come together as well as they do in the original. An above average IPA, but I will stick with other Sculpin variations.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into an IPA glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and and some floating sediment. Big two finger off white head that settles into a thin creamy patch.

Smell: A pretty juicy hop driven aroma with a scent of citrus fruit and pine. Upfront scent of citrus hops with some grapefruit, orange peel, mango, apricot, and lemon along with pineapple. Earthy hop hints of pine resin and grass as well as some floral hints. Malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker with some yeast. A very good juicy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and earthy hop driven taste with notes of citrus fruit and pine. Upfront taste of citrus hops with juicy notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, lemon, and apricot along with some pineapple. Earthy hop notes of pine resin and grass. Moderate bitterness. Malt notes of caramel, cracker, and grains along with yeast. A pretty good citrus hop forward taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Juicy and fairly oily with a drying finish.

Overall: Another pretty good version of Sculpin. Big citrus flavor.

Golden in color with nice head and tremendous clingy lacing. Good citrus on the nose and a good balance with the hops and citrus flavors. Finish is good with a pretty hop bitterness and some grapefruit and pith tastes.
