Give them ones across the board because of how much of a let down this beer truly is... It doesn't even look remotely unfiltered. It's basically regular sculpin., no yeast particles, nothing, it's clear as day. During this time, regular sculpin will be discounted to $11 a 6 pack. Do yourself a favor, avoid this and just go for the regular sculpin. Shame on you Ballast Point.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a big rocky white head that retains well and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is subdued - sweet floral malt with a little fruit and plasticky hops.

The flavor is sweet bready cream malt with floral, slightly fruity hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation and is a bit watery.

Overall, pretty subdued for a sculpin with not much fruit.

Poured from the bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass. For a beer that emphasizes freshness, I don't see a date on here anywhere. SC 15460 on the bottom of all places.. Whatever that means.

Faint tangerine orange body color and fairly clear. Head is slightly fluffy, making a good three finger height with soapy retention. Good staying power and thick lacing with ring like cling and swiss cheese head.

Aroma seems faded possibly. Sugary malt and hints of tropical quality hop, but sweetness of caramel dominates. Some real nice brown sugar crispy like malt tones though, but the hop angle is a slightly muted tropical note.

Wow, is this palate ever a let down. Washed out and wet like body. Even the malt quality is a muted light white sugar mix and wet quality. Finish has some faint hop character of fleeting pine, but mostly chalk and flour.

So where's the real sculpin? This is a far cry from the sculpin I have known and grown up drinking. Is that what is to look forward too in the future? Or perhaps they should get back to proper date coding.

Had on tap. Pours clear, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is grapefruit, lemon rind, with a touch of herbal hops. Very bitter, medium bodied, with moderate carbonation. A sipper of a beer. Of all the sculpins I have tried, this one is near the bottom. The bitterness hits, but the flavors do not come together as well as they do in the original. An above average IPA, but I will stick with other Sculpin variations.

12 oz bottle poured into a shaped IPA glass.

Appearance
Sediment laden blonde. Yeast plopped in at the end of the pour. 1/2 finger of creamy white head.

Nose
Peach, passion fruit, candy sugar, and orange citrus. Fairly light aroma.

Taste
Papaya and candied tangerine. Peach rings with a touch of passion fruit. Very light candy sugar maltiness. Finishes sweet with a touch of dankness.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, smooth, and sweet with hardly and bitterness.

Overall
It's certainly smooth but it's missing the mark if it's trying to be a NE style IPA.

Golden in color with nice head and tremendous clingy lacing. Good citrus on the nose and a good balance with the hops and citrus flavors. Finish is good with a pretty hop bitterness and some grapefruit and pith tastes.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy golden with a fluffy eggshell white head that falls leaving great thick retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have lots of fresh bread and crackers. Some floral notes. Subtle hints of grapefruit. The aromas are pretty faint and mild for the most part. The flavors are crisp and clean. Nice hop bitterness but not a ton of hop flavor. Hints of citrus. Orange and grapefruit is there along with a nice amount of pine and fresh grass. It's slightly earthy. Nice sharp bitterness. Malts do their thing. Finishes clean and dry for the most part. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's very fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid IPA, but I guess I was expecting more hop aromas and hop flavors due to this being a Sculpin variant. It's not bad at all, but I guess I was personally expecting something different. The craftsmanship is on point.

Easy drinking for sure, but nothing special. Perfect to put a few back for summer time. Nothing like regular sculpin. Nice hazy orange color, smell is a little off not a big hop aroma

Had this on tap a Dog & Bull in Bristol, PA. Had a nice caramel hazy appearance with little to know smell of a hint of grapefruit. Taste was bland with a little bitterness from the grapefruit and hops. Had a nice unfiltered full body feel with very light carbonation. But I have to say I was pretty disappointed with this Ballast Point IPA.

Pours a hazy gold into a fifteen ounce glass mug the same temperature as the beer. Almost opaque. Two finger white head that lasts. Finally settles to a fourth inch steady rime. Beautiful sticky lacing.

The nose is big ruby red grapefruit followed closely by some caramel sweetness.

The palate is assaulted by huge piney hops up front followed by the aforementioned ruby red grapefruit. Some pineapple along with a touch of mango.

Finishes very dry on the palate. Bitter piney hops. A little harsh on the palate. Over carbonated.

Decent brew. The hops and malts are unbalanced however leaving a decent beer but not a great beer.
