This beer pours a slightly hazy gold with an average head. The aroma is classically fully of grapefruit and pineapple, with hints of mandarin orange, caramel, and passionfruit. The flavor is less vibrant than the aroma with grapefruit, pine, mango, pineapple, orange peel, caramel, with a nice dose of bitterness at the end. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with plenty of fizzy carbonation. Overall this is a nice beer, with a good solid load of classic American IPA flavors - but it is not as striking as I may have hoped - and almost certainly not as good as the original Sculpin.

On tap at Cloverleaf Tavern in Caldwell. Pours an effervescent golden hue with minimal frothing. Pungent aroma replete with hints of citrus and grapefruit. Similar overall flavor profile.

Poured a hazy, golden color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of peach, apricot and other tropical fruit goodness. Sweet with fruitiness, balanced by a nice bitter bite and toasty caramel.

Easy drinking for sure, but nothing special. Perfect to put a few back for summer time. Nothing like regular sculpin. Nice hazy orange color, smell is a little off not a big hop aroma

Serving: 12 oz bottle (date stamp "17108") poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Appearance: Lightly hazy, bright gold with a tall, lush latte foam crown and thick streaks of lace.

Smell: Fresh tropical fruit: mango, papaya and pineapple. Light, bready malt and dank hops emerge after the initial fruit punch.

Taste: More juicy hops in the flavor, tropical and stone fruit with light citrus, pine and dank undertones. Closes dry with restrained bitterness. Softer than regular Sculpin.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with soft carbonation.

Overall: A solid, drinkable IPA with nice tropical fruit, but somehow lacking the depth of original Sculpin.

Had on tap. Pours clear, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is grapefruit, lemon rind, with a touch of herbal hops. Very bitter, medium bodied, with moderate carbonation. A sipper of a beer. Of all the sculpins I have tried, this one is near the bottom. The bitterness hits, but the flavors do not come together as well as they do in the original. An above average IPA, but I will stick with other Sculpin variations.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into an IPA glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and and some floating sediment. Big two finger off white head that settles into a thin creamy patch.

Smell: A pretty juicy hop driven aroma with a scent of citrus fruit and pine. Upfront scent of citrus hops with some grapefruit, orange peel, mango, apricot, and lemon along with pineapple. Earthy hop hints of pine resin and grass as well as some floral hints. Malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker with some yeast. A very good juicy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and earthy hop driven taste with notes of citrus fruit and pine. Upfront taste of citrus hops with juicy notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, lemon, and apricot along with some pineapple. Earthy hop notes of pine resin and grass. Moderate bitterness. Malt notes of caramel, cracker, and grains along with yeast. A pretty good citrus hop forward taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Juicy and fairly oily with a drying finish.

Overall: Another pretty good version of Sculpin. Big citrus flavor.
