Poured from the bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass. For a beer that emphasizes freshness, I don't see a date on here anywhere. SC 15460 on the bottom of all places.. Whatever that means.

Faint tangerine orange body color and fairly clear. Head is slightly fluffy, making a good three finger height with soapy retention. Good staying power and thick lacing with ring like cling and swiss cheese head.

Aroma seems faded possibly. Sugary malt and hints of tropical quality hop, but sweetness of caramel dominates. Some real nice brown sugar crispy like malt tones though, but the hop angle is a slightly muted tropical note.

Wow, is this palate ever a let down. Washed out and wet like body. Even the malt quality is a muted light white sugar mix and wet quality. Finish has some faint hop character of fleeting pine, but mostly chalk and flour.

So where's the real sculpin? This is a far cry from the sculpin I have known and grown up drinking. Is that what is to look forward too in the future? Or perhaps they should get back to proper date coding.

Pours fairly clear golden orange with a fluffy off-white head. Only slightly cloudy until the sediment is poured in. Has the classic Sculpin hop in the aroma; I have a hard time putting that into words. Perhaps because I usually had Sculpin out of a can, I don't fully recognize that classic Sculpin hop in the taste. It's there though, and there is some nice citrus; grapefruit, orange, rind, light pine & floral flavours with a touch of alcohol warmth but virtually no astringent bitterness. Fairly full & smooth mouthfeel. Overall, quite a nice IPA which I liked a little less than Grapefruit Sculpin but a little more than the Pineapple. Can't decide between this & the original, maybe I'll need to taste them side by side some day.

Copper with a dusting of yeast, slight haziness, no carbonation, and topped with 4 fingers of off white head.

Smell immediately hits the nose with sweet, tropical fruit notes, particularly pineapple, orange candy and pine. There's a dusty, funky dankness as well.

It tastes dry of pineapple, caramel, popcorn, and biscuit. A solid grapefruit pith bitterness on the end.

Medium body, light carbonation.

Got this at Namton's drinking at home in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Its Sept 4th, 2017. Classic, amazing American west coast IPA, done to such perfection its like, where do go from there.

* taken from notes.
12oz marked sc1562u 17110 11:57. heavily poured into my clear hotel plastic cup.

Appearance- hazy straw color with a frothy white head. leaves a good amount of lacing.

Aroma- orange and bready. kinda weak.

Flavor- like the smell but with some grapefruit and pine notes. abv is well hidden. bitterness is there and hangs a bit.

Mouthfeel- medium/ heavy bodied. good carbonation.

Drinkability- not bad but prolly good on this in the future.

Overall- I would love to see breweries to stop chasing fads. yes m-43 is a great "new England" style ipa and it's selling really well but don't try to copy it. don't just make something hazy and expect it to be golden. just like the short's controversi-ale. I would rather just have the original. especially for labeled extra hopped I don't see it.

Pours an unclear orange, with thick, fluffy head.

Smell is very piney, with quite a hit of citrus and some honey.

Taste is massively bitter, with buckets of piney resin. Finishes on some citrus notes.

Mouthfeel is medium and a bit oily, well carbonated.

Overall, it's Sculpin, but a little bit more of it. Very tasty.

12 oz bottle served cold into a chalice. Purchased while visiting the US. Never had the original Sculpin (yet) so can't compare to that. Dated with SC 1571U and 17128 on the bottom of the bottle, whatever that should mean.

Appearance - Pours a very hazy, orange and gold colored beer. Some small amount of sediment in the glass. Topped with a big finger and change of egg shell white colored head, but recedes pretty quick. A couple rings of lacing stick around for the duration.

Smell - Juicy tropical notes with lots of grapefruit, some pine and a more than health malt / caramel / sweetness to the aroma.

Taste - Quite a bit of pine up front with loads of assertive bitterness. Some heat from the booze and minimal sweetness. Topical notes on the aroma are subdued with a trace of grapefruit shining through. Finishes with a hot peppery taste.

Mouthfeel - Prickly and astringent carbonation, medium-heavy bodied for the style and drying finish.

Overall - An impressive if not overwhelmingly positive experience. Still a good six pack and will have no problem downing the balance of the purchase.
