Sea Rose Tart Cherry Wheat AleSea Rose Tart Cherry Wheat Ale
Notes: Our Sea Rose tart cherry wheat ale is a fresh take on fruit beers. Originally conceived during an employee-led R&D brew, it’s one of our most imaginative recipes yet. The American wheat style is light and clean, while fresh cherry juice adds a soft coral color and fruity nose that gives way to a dry, slightly tart finish. It’s approachable, yet unexpected—exactly what we love to brew.

12oz. can: This one pours an almost clear, golden color. A small white head that doesn't linger long or leave any lacing. Lighter nose. Some tart cherry and wheat. The taste is OK. A tough lighter body, some tart cherry and wheat flavors. A good beer on a hot day.

Had on tap. So I would think this would be good on a hot summer day, but I was wrong. The wheat get an unfortunate souring from the cherry, and that is the main flavor. Feels unbalanced and unnecessarily bitter and sweet for the style. So many better cherry wheat beers out there

Would assume by the packaging that this would be more of a tart/sour but does not deliver. Not a strong cherry flavor at all and a very mild fruit smell. A good light summer beer. Will not be going out of my way to purchase again but wouldn't scoff off a free one

This isn't a bad wheat beer and the fruit is very pleasant. It doesn't have that over the top sugariness some fruited beers can have. The only problem is that it really doesn't stand out. It's drinkable and I'd happily drink it again if offered, but I'm not spending money on it.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a golden brown color and a cloudy consistency. There was a 3/4" foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Above average lacing.

S: A decent, but not outstanding aroma of wheat, cherries, malt, and some other indeterminate fruits.

T: Tasted of a tinge of hops (mostly in the finish), a good shot of wheat (more than anything), some cherries (could have used more), a funky quality, and pomegranates as well. Like the aroma, the taste was kind of on the thin side. The cherries are there, but they aren't quite strong enough.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a lively finish. Light-bodied.

O: This is one of those inoffensive and forgettable beers. Not bad, but could have better.

Pours a well carbonated pinkish straw color with minimal head. Nose is grass and tart cherry. Taste is bready biscuit upfront with a slap of tart cherry on the finish. Medium-light body and medium-high carbonation.
This beer has a bit of an identity crisis. It's taken on the color, carbonation, and ABV of a flavored gose but has the body and nose of a pale wheat. While an interesting drink, it is only 50% committed to each category so it's difficult to give it a fair rating.

Pours a pretty clear almost peach color. Aroma has some of that (rotten barnyardness) going on. Not a fan, but it's not completely awful. Taste is somewhat tart, rather bland after the swallow. Medium-high carbonation. Refreshing is the best way to describe it.

I mean it is an interesting and kind of tasty beer. I find difficulties to add it to the one category. Kind of a mix between fruit beer, wheat beer and gose or grodziskie. Golden, clear, foam diminish fast. Nose is very grainy, fresh cut hay and some cherries. Flavor is medium sour and a finish is definitely dry. High carbonation. Get some fresh cherry tartness. , indeed. Some fruity tannins. I think it is a very good fruit beer. Refreshing and light.

Very interesting fruit beer, very pleasant cherry wheat ale beer. Drinks light but finishes with a nice dry flavor with a hint of tart. The cherry flavors do show up when drinking. Overall good tasting beer.

pours ruby red with light, white head. no retention.
nose is light wheat, maybe a touch of cherry - don't know that i could pick it out if i didn't know it was there.
taste pretty much follows. very light cherry, and barely perceptible tartness followed by a light wheat, cracker character - i was thinking this was a cherry berliner...maybe they aren't calling it that, but that's what it is. anyway.
thin and crisp
take it or leave it. not great, but it wouldn't be a the worst beer if you're outside on a hot day.

This beer, in my mind, should be a tart cherry wheat beer. At least from reading the label, that is what I'm thinking. However, upon actual tasting of the beer, that is not what I would call it. Pours a clear, reddish hue with a bit of a white head. Smells of very faint cherry flavor and wheat. The taste follows suit. The cherry is so mild that there is a zip of tart that is quickly overtaken by the mild wheat flavor/"beer aftertaste". I could drink it, but it wouldn't be high on my list of brews if there were other choices on the menu.

Dr. Strauss checking in, just after the consumption of the illustrious Sea Rose! It may not be the best beer I've had, but it certainty horned me up.

I am not a big fan of fruit beers (other than citrusy ones, just my own preference) but this one is pretty smooth. Golden colour and off white head smells and tastes of slight malts with hops and maybe cherry. Pretty smooth. You could do worst. Prost!

Sea Rose has a medium, white head, a mostly clear, golden appearance, some haze, some ascending, lone bubbles, and lots of powdery and chunky tan sediment, throughout. Aroma is of very faint wheat bread and tart fruit, and the flavor is the same, but it's very muted. Mouthfeel is thin, and Sea Rose finishes crisp and bland.

DATE: September 23, 2017.. OCCASION: big soccer Saturday finishes with scouts and PSU/Iowa... GLASSWARE: Weihenstephaner weizen glass... pours a bright golden bosy with reasonable effervescence... head is thick, two-fingered, and snow white... lacing arches up and over the cloud... cherry is relevant but not impactful... more immediate is creamy yeasts that alerts the nose to its wheat backbone... floral notes suggest hops are mingling in this... body is creamy, lively, and crisp... refreshing and light in its ABV... the cherry is subtle--and not a bad thing, given the softening of the wheat... flower and hop meld with the tartness to create a pleasant, softened profile... nothing I would run to, but a solid fruit beer that I would not refuse if given...

Bottle poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden yellow with a slight pinkish hue and a frothy faintly pink head that settles to a light layer that leaves some nice lacing.

S: Tart cherry, a little wheat twang, maybe a hint of pomegranate.

T: Mild to moderate lactic tartness, green apple and lemon, a little wheat twang, with the cherry coming through on the back end and the after taste.

M: Light body, slightly prickly carbonation.

O: Good warm weather beer, light crisp change of pace, but not much beyond that.

A: A very light peach pink color with a light pinkish white head.

S: Light cherry, with bread, and something funky. This has a little bit of a dirty dish sponge aroma that comes out in some wheat beers for me...

T: Tart cherry, funky bread, and dish sponge, with a tart finish.

M: Medium light with moderate carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish.

O: A bit funky... and not in a way I really like.. not bad, just not great.

S: Cherry and pomegranate aromas dominate followed closely by some wheat and a very faint hint of hops

T: cherry and pomegranate with a tartness a little less than a Granny Smith apple

F: medium light body and medium to medium high carbonation

O: This mildly tart refreshing beer has some wheat beer character behind the fruit

Picked up a bottle at the grocery with high hopes from this great brewery. Poured a hazy orange and very bubbly into a pint glass. Seemed like a good summer beer for a warm weekend night. Smell is not strong but I might detect a little cherry. Taste is strange. It is slightly sour with a little fruit tones. I didn't enjoy the flavor and while I could see this wheat beer being refreshing in the heat, the flavor turned me off. I'm glad I got just one.

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter glass. 4% abv

Appearance- Pours a light amber with a light tint of red. Course bubbled head quick to dissipate. Very clear.

Smell- Cooked grains, cherry tartness

Taste- Semi sweet grain base, wheaty. Tartness arrives from a big wave of cherry flavor. Sour, but only slightly. Finishes dry yet bitter, still retaining the cherry notes.

Mouthfeel- Light in body with medium carbonation.

Overall- Lots of tart cherry notes for a light beer. Very sessionable and refreshing. not too much in terms of complexity, a semi sour cherry wheat beer here.

On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYC. At first blush ;^) this has a very pleasant rose hue. There is more wheat then cherry on the nose, but the flavor is well balanced. Perfect for a long hot summer leave-me-alone afternoon & at only 4%, add the evening hours in.

Hits you immediately with a fruity, mostly pomegranate taste followed by the mild tartness as advertised on the label. It finishes with a nice wheat aftertaste. It leaves the tart pomegranate taste on the back of your tongue for a few minutes after.

Not a bad beer, but would not purchase again. Probably just purchase another Ballast Point beer instead.
