Style: American Pale Wheat Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our Sea Rose tart cherry wheat ale is a fresh take on fruit beers. Originally conceived during an employee-led R&D brew, it’s one of our most imaginative recipes yet. The American wheat style is light and clean, while fresh cherry juice adds a soft coral color and fruity nose that gives way to a dry, slightly tart finish. It’s approachable, yet unexpected—exactly what we love to brew.

On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYC. At first blush ;^) this has a very pleasant rose hue. There is more wheat then cherry on the nose, but the flavor is well balanced. Perfect for a long hot summer leave-me-alone afternoon & at only 4%, add the evening hours in.

12 oz bottle.
Pours with a clear, pinkish copper body that has a high amount of visible carbonation. The modest size white head has decent retention.
Aroma: fresh baked wheat bread with fainter fresh and baked cherries.
Flavor: follows the aroma but with relatively weaker malts versus fruit notes; moderately tart, at most. Clean.
Feel: medium-light body; medium-high carbonation; quite dry.

Overall: an excellent, dry session ale, although I'd prefer a bit stronger flavor.

A: poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, pink like a nice sparkling rose wine with a short white head that immediately vanishes leaving no lacing, clear

S: cherry and pomegranate abound, light wheat grain

T: tart cherry up front mixes with pomegranate, the tartness is light and balanced by a grain sweetness in the middle, middle has the fruit tartness

M: light and refreshing

O: the flavor is very natural, the tartness is not aggressive

Bright, tangy, fruity and radiant, the appeal of cherry wheat ale honestly doesn't pique the interest, but one taste changes all that as Ballast Point wields their brewing prowess and creates a beer that's perfect for ringing in the spring season.

Bright ruby and dark pink, the brilliantly clear beer takes on striking appearances of sparkling rose wine. A creamy pillow of foam crowns the glass while aromas of tart berries, cherries, currants and cider mingle in the nose. Soft pastry sweetness is light and feathery on the early palate as the wheat adds a creamy sourdough favor to support the billowing fruit.

The sweetness fades nicely and the fruit flavors develop from a juicy and plump upstart into a clean, tart and cidery sourness. Pomegranate, cherry, redcurrant, strawberry and raspberry could all be represented as the taste is simple, dedicated to the fruit and shy of depth or complexity.

Medium light on the palate, the sourness, modest alcohol and drying malts allows for a crisp and clean after palate with the piquant tang of berries resting on a short and sour finish. Echoes of wheat roll softly into aftertaste with those notions of sourdough baking away.

12 oz bottle poured into a Ballast Point tulip glass. New year-round six-pack starting at $11.99. Tart wheat ale with cherries added, created in their R&D homebrewing program.

L - amber/pink color, crystal clear hue, hard-poured for bubbly white/pink foam, kind of like a rose champagne

S - tart cherries, dried cherries, sour cherries, ale yeast, wheat malt

T - sour cherries, cherry skin, sea salt, sour cherry tartness, little malt character. More like a gose than a wheat pale ale

F - super light in alcohol, little acidity, tart like apples, clean finish. Super easy sipper

O - I wish Ballast Point just came out and said this is a gose, then I would be much happier. Known for the nautical themed branding, I wish they just dropped this thing as their own gose, a sour wheat ale style that includes sea salt. Close enough though, one of their cheaper six-packs that is a different path from their super hopped-up beers. Not bad, cheers!

L: dark gold with a light haze and a slight red tint under a robust 1.5" white foam collar.

S: Cherry and pomegranate aromas dominate followed closely by some wheat and a very faint hint of hops

T: cherry and pomegranate with a tartness a little less than a Granny Smith apple

F: medium light body and medium to medium high carbonation

O: This mildly tart refreshing beer has some wheat beer character behind the fruit

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a semi-clear golden color with a small white head. The aroma is mild tart hops . A slightly above average beer. very sessionable.

Ok. But not nearly tart...or cherry ... enough
