BEER INFO

Style: American Pale Wheat Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our Sea Rose tart cherry wheat ale is a fresh take on fruit beers. Originally conceived during an employee-led R&D brew, it’s one of our most imaginative recipes yet. The American wheat style is light and clean, while fresh cherry juice adds a soft coral color and fruity nose that gives way to a dry, slightly tart finish. It’s approachable, yet unexpected—exactly what we love to brew.

Weak. Flat. No taste. No mouth feel. Not really anything to like. This is the first beer from Ballast Point that has really disappointed.

2.28/5: Absurdly bland and watery; all it's good for is patronizing women

DATE: September 23, 2017.. OCCASION: big soccer Saturday finishes with scouts and PSU/Iowa... GLASSWARE: Weihenstephaner weizen glass... pours a bright golden bosy with reasonable effervescence... head is thick, two-fingered, and snow white... lacing arches up and over the cloud... cherry is relevant but not impactful... more immediate is creamy yeasts that alerts the nose to its wheat backbone... floral notes suggest hops are mingling in this... body is creamy, lively, and crisp... refreshing and light in its ABV... the cherry is subtle--and not a bad thing, given the softening of the wheat... flower and hop meld with the tartness to create a pleasant, softened profile... nothing I would run to, but a solid fruit beer that I would not refuse if given...

S: subtle, yet tart cherry

T: tart cherry comes out in the middle and lingers through the end.

O: more like a light gose than a wheat ale

Dr. Strauss checking in, just after the consumption of the illustrious Sea Rose! It may not be the best beer I've had, but it certainty horned me up.

The beer was fine.

Hits you immediately with a fruity, mostly pomegranate taste followed by the mild tartness as advertised on the label. It finishes with a nice wheat aftertaste. It leaves the tart pomegranate taste on the back of your tongue for a few minutes after.

Not a bad beer, but would not purchase again. Probably just purchase another Ballast Point beer instead.

Super clean rose gold color. Slight pinkish head. Smell is slight sour nothing else. Taste is a bit tart up front then nothing. Feel is like water. Not very carbonated.

Ok beer. Not much to it

Golden colored beer with a rapidly fading head. Taste is faint tart cherry and some bready malts. Overall a pretty average beer that I pretty much could take or leave.

From the bottom of the bottle, in yellow letter: "SR 6 17054 10:08"

Appearance: It has decent clarity with a short white head with moderate retention but for the most part it stays a white ring along the edge of the glass. The color of the body is a light pinkish orange color that is closer to orange.

Aroma: I get the standard wheat aroma with just a bit of a sour smell that is characteristic to wheat. I get a bit of what smells like strawberries.

Taste: Up front there is this sharp bit of tartness that hits the palate and it tastes a bit like raspberries. This carries to the finish where there is a light wheat aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: It is very light and at times it feels a bit watered down. The carbonation feels right and it has a nice tartness to it.

Overall: It's just an average fruity wheat beer. The wheat flavor doesn't come through a lot and despite the label saying it is brewed with "Cherries & Pomegranate" the flavor and aroma could be mistaken for any number of tart fruits. Again it just feels like an average beer that doesn't particularly do anything well but isn't really bad either. Pick it up or don't. I probably wouldn't buy it again.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a lagunitas mason glass. Beta-fish artwork

L: Clear light golden-pink pour. No head worth mentioning.

S: Dark cherry... and... cherry.

T/F: Mildly sweet-tart carbonated cherry flavored something. Not much flavor... mild grains poke through. Finish is off-sweet.

O: Just not much here... and a rare complete miss for Ballast point. Glad I only got 1 in a sampler. Not worth the bother.

L - Golden with red tint, 1/2 a finger of head, bubbles, and looks filtered

S - Light aroma, pale flower aromas. Odd for a beer.

T - Lightly malted, clean, and lightly tarted. But not much going on here

F - Light body and carbonation

O - I will pass - and enjoy the other amazing BP brews
