Our Tart Peach Kölsch is a fresh take on one of our very first beers. The juicy aroma and flavor of ripe peach complements the subtle fruitiness from the Kölsch yeast in this bright, refreshing ale. Add a tickle of tartness to round out the senses, and you get a new brew that’s interestingly delightful.

Ballast Point Tart Peach Kolsch
Orange hued with no lace or head to speak of. Smells lightly peach, citrus and salt. Taste is brightly tart with notes of peach and brine. Very good. Crisp mouthfeel is part and parcel with tartness. Overall this is an excellent kolsch. Delicious and easy drinking.

Ballast Point Brewing Co. "Tart Peach Kölsch"
$6/pint on tap at Champs Sports Grill, State College, PA
Look: Hazy golden beneath a short head of white. Its limited head retention and lacing is to be expected in sour beers. Only some spotty lacing is found.
Smell: Peach.
Flavor: Peach. Tangy and sweet, loaded with peach. The malt barely makes an appearance. There's a very limited bitterness to it but it finishes dry and somewhat acidic.
Feel: Medium-light in body and crisp with an acidic bite.
Overall: Having sampled this on tap I'm not sure if this is brewed with flavorings added but I'll assume that it is as it's intensely peach-like. It's almost like an alcoholic fruit drink rather than a beer with fruit added. It's certainly NOT a Kölsch, but rather a fruit beer. I've reviewed it hedonistically, however, without regard for style as they've clearly just tossed the "Kölsch" in there to sell as opposed to using "ale" or "blonde" or something else.

Pours amber with a white head. A bit of sourness in this brew with fruity overtones. Peach taste comes through most strongly with a solid dry aftertaste.

A 12 fl. oz. can with a packaged on date of 7th August 2018. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A clear golden colour with a two finger soapy white head that dissipated fairly quickly but left lots of nice lacing.
Aroma: Tart, gummy peach ring candy, with a touch of lemon.
Taste: Much like the aroma, tart, sour peach gummy candy, lemon peel, lightly sweet, and a touch of wheat.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: I like sour peach gummy candies, and this tastes and smells very close to that, but for some reason in liquid form, it just didn’t translate for me.

It doesn't lie the tartness is there, the peach is peaking out and grains and malts are hanging around to balance it out.

I tried this from the can poured chilled in a willybecker
the color is golden amber with a white head with fine bead and good clarity with lace that sticks to the glass.
The smell has light fruit aroma with a grainy odor and subtle sour scent.
The feel is moderately sour with a light sweet entry and dry almost chalky texture with a moderately low carbonation level.
The taste is good with semi-fruity and light peach flavor augmented by sour yeast flavor in middle balanced by sweetness and a semi-dry quality as if finishes with lingering tangy taste.
This reminds me of a peach flavored lemonade, not bad. I would drink this again but it is not smooth as far as the combination of flavors with sweet and sour taste-wise. the malt feel is on the dry side with semi-sweet peach

A: Bright orange coloring with a silent amount of carbonation within. Foamy, bready pitted head is white, about ¼ inch and lasts only momentarily. Clean window dressing.
S: Tart lemony peaches on the nose, some musky oranges and fruitiness. Peaches come through nicely with an above moderate tone. Nicely lasting.
T: Sweet malt and yeastiness. Fruity tartness of peaches, good strength, with a slight touch of lemony sourness. Fruity, rather clean, mostly peaches as you may have guessed.
M: Crisp mouthful on the lighter side shows a touch of graininess.
O: Nice tartness overall and use of peaches. Light souring factor, good flavor, would not consider true to German standards, but a good beer none the less. Enjoyable in the summer time, crisp drinking, and one to just enjoy.
