Poured into a pint glass from a 12 oz bottle. Reviewed 5/1/14.

Color is gold with a thick white head. Retention is fair with nice lacing. Aroma is grapefruit and some tropical fruits - very strong. Flavor is a blast of grapefruit on the palate, moderated by some caramel malt, but really a hop-forward beer. Finish is lingering grapefruit rind - very nice. Body is light to medium with moderate to high carbonation.

Overall a really good example of West Coast IPA that is one I often use as a yardstick against which to judge other IPAa.

On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings

A: Pours deep gold with a frothy off white head that laces very well.

S: Citrus and tropical fruit hops, a touch of pine, with a little malt sweetness.

T: Big hop hit, grapefruit sticks out, some pine, then the tropical fruit comes out, especially as it warms with pineapple and mango notes, all backed with a nice caramel malt sweetness.

M: A bit on the heavier side of medium body, with moderate carbonation, very smooth.

O: Perhaps not my favorite big IPA, and a bit too pricey in bottles, but still a very well done brew that's earned it status as a classic.

A: clear; deep gold color; 1 finger off white head that receded slowly to a thin cap; very nice lacing;

S: strong grapefruit;

T: follows the nose - grapefruit from start to finish with some ripe pineapple added in at the end; bitterness kicks in at mid-palate and stays;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation;

O: really good!
