Bought for a New Seasons grocery store in Portland, Oregon. Pretty pumped when I saw this one, cause its been on my radar for a while now. No freshness date, but I expect it to be pretty fresh considering the stores location (Hawthone) and this beers popularity. Poured into a snifter.

A&S: Little over a finger of dull yellow semi fizzy head, retains in a thin layer and leaves some speckled lacing. Beer is a hazy cream yellow coloration. Primary citrus in the nose.

T&M: Predominate tropical hoppiness upfront. Powerful orange zest towards the finish. Semi-bitter, dry finish. Crisp carbonation but the medium-ish body cause this beer to be highly drinkable.

Overall: An incredible beer and the price ($2.50 for a single) makes this beer even more appealing. Would highly recommend to anyone, craft beer drinker or not. Wish this beer reached Colorado, this would for sure end up as a go to.

Looks the part. Pours a nectarine color. It's not clear like many other IPAs, instead it displays a slight haze, lacking the clarity (a good thing) of most. The head has the required meringue qualities, but lacks retention. Each swirl provides more and more lace.

A bouquet of tropical citrus fruits. Many west coast IPAs flaunt pine in addition to grapefruit, but this trades in pine for more citrus...tangerine, orange and a hint of pineapple.

Taste follows the nose, though not quite as aggressively. Everything about this beer is a study in subtlety. The way the malt marries with the hops shows plenty of balance. Even the taste lacks the pine-like flavors I've grown accustomed to. Orange rind gives it the necessary bite.

Smooth is the operative word. The beer doesn't grab your tongue and destroy your palate the second it hits your lips. The intensity grows as it works its way across the tongue. Almost sweet at first, slightly acidic mid-sip, before the bite takes over as the swallow concludes. There's no piney resin to coat your tongue and allow the bitterness to seemingly never cede. It gives a nice scrape to clean the palate, then it's done.

This is really good. The alcohol is not noticed. The bitterness lets you know it's an IPA, but it never damages your tongue or throat. Just a well-rounded, top of the line, IPA.
