Ap: light orange. Prob about 6 SRM. Good carbonation. Poured a 3 finger head from 22 oz bomber into 16 0z glass.

Sm: struggling to pluck out hop aromas. I get malt first them some spice and grapefruit. Do not detect tropical notes.

T: bitter, grapefruit, citrus (peel), some spice, and a light bread/toast malt flavor. The aftertaste is citrus peel and spice with the bitterness lingering in the mouth for a while. Some light/ underlying sweetness to balance the bitterness, spice, and malt flavors.

M: The mouth-feel is medium body, dry, good carbonation.

O: This is a very solid west coast IPA. I prefer a a lot more hop flavors and aromas to be present in an IPA. This is my second time trying this beer (both from 22 oz bottles) and I was hoping I would experience some big hop flavors and aroma that I have come to expect in a top rated IPA.

Thanks to a friend, Mr. Atwill from Maryland, for sending this to Colorado for me to try. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass.

Pours a yellow-golden color, fairly cloudy and a firm white head.

Smells of very piney hops with a hint of citrus hiding in there. Struggling through the end of a cold right now so I know I'm missing out on more here.

Hop BOMB. Very good presence of piney and grapefruit/citrus hops. Incredibly drinkable for the alcohol and IBUs. Not necessarily a's so smooth going down and the bitterness doesn't linger, only making you need another taste. Balances well with the malt.

Medium-bodied and very smooth. Perfect amount of carbonation.

After the first taste I was thinking this ought to be considered a double or imperial. Regardless, a very solid American IPA from Ballast Point. I'm glad I finally got to try this brew, and it was well worth the wait. Hopefully distro can be sorted out and it will make it to CO soon.

Sculpin pours a clear darker copper color with a small lacing head. There is a strong, bold floral aroma. The taste has a very bold fresh hop taste, finishes very dry and a good hint of bitterness, no frills in this one. Great feel, great full flavors. Overall a very bold no playing around hoppy IPA.

Well for hop lovers, this is a really tasty one, and should certainly be tried. Hops are the dominant force, lots of citrusy flavors, grapefruit, lemon and grapefruit peel, some bitter orange peel, and tons of bitey hops bitterness.

The body is medium, with a slightly slick feel, and a lingering grapefruit rind bitterness. This is actually the last bottle of several sixers I've had, just hadn't gotten around to reviewing yet. It's a great shelf-stocker for the fridge for IPA fans.
