Notes:
With Aloha Sculpin, we used Brux Trois yeast to turn our award-winning IPA into a tropical oasis, with bright and refreshing notes of mango, pineapple and guava, along with a slight haze and smooth mouthfeel.

Was very excited to try this specifically for the Brux Trois Yeast.
Look: Pours a pale amber. 1 inch white head.
Aroma: Citrus (orange) guava and freshly baked bread.
Taste: A muddle of citrus with some "orange peel" bitterness. Malts not as present as they were in the aroma.
Feel: Medium bodied; medium-high carbonation.
Overall: A Sculpin that kept me yearning for more. My favorites are still the Habanero Sculpin and the Unfiltered Sculpin.

Spinning off of the juiciness of the haze craze, the brewers at Ballast Point steer the style in a yeasty direction, pulling a slew of esters from fermentation to achieve a fruit forward flavor that hops can't achieve on their own. As a different take on the New England styled trend in IPA making, Sculpin gets an update.
Hazy it is not. Nearly brilliantly clear, the golden ale shines with steady streaming carbonation while a fluffy cream colored froth builds above. Its fruity perfume draws in the nose with suggestions of musty tropical fruit, citrusy hops, a soft herbal and pine drift along with a spicy twinge of gin. A moderately sweet and caramelized tone sets the initial palate in a lightly toasted, nutty and granola-like taste.
Packed with the radiant flavors of pineapple, agave, mango and guava, the beer's tropical flavors command the middle palate while the citrusy nature of pink grapefruit, freshly zested oranges and a pep of lemon add complexity and a brightness to the richer tropical flare. Malt sweetness drops out quickly as the late palate dries to a crisp, grassy, piney and spicy bitterness that pangs away at the back of the throat.
Somewhat disjointed between the more succulent tropical fruit and the peppery bitterness of hops, the medium bodied beer falls slightly short of a seamless transition from fruit to bitter that's common among most IPA. Lemongrass, verbena and gritty pine resins grip the gullet tightly while the beer dries to a classic West Coast degree with a long and bitter aftertaste.

Very good Hazy IPA, the mango, pineapple and guajava aromas stand out when drinking. Nice light yellow haze when poured and it's unfiltered. This addition to the Sculpin IPA world is excellent.

The beer pours out a medium hazy dark golden orange color, with 1 finger of white head----------------- the aromas are of grapefruit, dank weed, pine, orange and lesser pineapple-------------- the flavors are of orange flesh, grapefruit pith, lesser pine and pineapple, the beer had a thin to medium mouthfeel with a light pithy bitterness on the finish----------------- overall the beer was good but it did not taste like a hazy ipa, it tasted a lot like regular sculpin with a touch of haze and a splash of tropical fruit--

Nice Haze and frothy white head. Tropical aromas abound. This is very similar to the original Sculpin but has a little more tropical.nites like guava, orange and grapefruit elevated quite nicely. Great balanced hop bitterness at the end with a little citrus peel to add some zing!!
