Passing Haze Hazy IPA is an off-the-charts exploration of the India Pale Ale. We've loaded the hop cannons and fire a late addition blast bursting this incredibly sessionable IPA with juicy, tropical citrus hops. The result is an easy drinking treasure trove of hop gold.

IMO, this checks off all the boxes for a session ipa. It has the aromatics of an ipa, combined with the light mouthfeel and thirst-quenching quality of a session beer.

Appearance: Obscured gold with a large fast fading white head and light lacing.
Nose: Tropical fruit along side citrus.
Taste: Fruity, but not focused. A bit more floral in the aftertaste.
Feel: Soft and inoffensive, borderline boring. Moderately carbonated short lived finish.
Overall: Not breaking any new boundaries but I don't think they were trying to.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a 1/4 inch foamy head. Smell is very tropical; I pick up mango, pineapple, and passionfruit. Flavor is slightly fruity, not that juicy pretty thin overall. Finishes malty, no discernible bitterness. I could enjoy a few of these.

Two 12 oz. cans were released into a clear glass liter mug and a cloudy orange-yellow color becomes visible. Not much for the glass lacing, nor head, although what shows is durable. Maybe it's the color's suggestion, but it sure does smell a bit like lemonade. Oh well, another session beer that tastes and feels like a Lite Beer from Hazy. Joining the light color is a light malt presence, a light hop citrusy tartness with almost no bite and a light on the tongue mouthfeel. Light are also the chances of this giving an IPA lover a satisfying experience.

It does not happen often (tonight was only the seCANd time since late-Mai), but we were sent home early (after six (6) hours) when we simply ran out of mail! I will take it since we are currently working a mando 10.5-hours 6 days a week as newbies. Yeah, it is a loss of pay, but it also affords me the opportunity to do a CANple of CANQuest (tm) reviews as well as to get some sleep & run some errands that might otherwise have been put off until my day off. No problem!

I did some in-CAN agiCANtion before Crack!ing open the vent for an aggro C-Line Glug. I figured that if clarity is not a CANcern, then I might as well go for broke. This action resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with very good retention, leaving behind some great lacing as it finally fell. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose was prevalently citrusy, more towards grapefruit & lemon than anything tropical. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but not far removed from it, either. The taste was an odd mélange of flavors, both citrusy & tropical, but kind of muted overall. The lack of intensity is a problem that dogs Session IPAs & until they get their own stand-alone style, they are going to suffer as a result. This one doubly suffered as a Session NEIPA, IMHO. Finish was semi-dry & while refreshing, I would probably be satiated after one, defeating its purpose as "sessionable". YMMV.

Looks promising, but drinks like a sour. Very disappointed in the fruity notes and displeasing after taste. Clearly, not a drinkable ipa in spite of its low ABV.

A: hazy; medium gold in color; less than a 1 finger white head that receded to a thin collar; no lacing;
S: dank pineapple and grapefruit;
T: grapefruit and grapefruit pith; some orange from the middle through the finish; moderate bitterness at the end;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; dry finish;
O: everything about this beer was just OK; I did appreciate the dry finish;

the smell is very strong and funky, just had to say. straw gold color with a sudsy head. taste complements the smell, but is much more muted and mellow - almost benign. i had expected something a bit more intense given its opening salvo. it does have a respectable and complex flavor profile for such a friendly abv. at the end it feels wet on the tongue but not much else, maintaining just barely enough bite not to fall completely flat. not completely, but i only possess one can and do not wish for another - not a great sign for a self-titled "session" ale.
still, this is a passing neipa. isn't that all they were aiming for?
