Type: 22-oz. bomber
Glass: 0.5L mug
From: Cherokee Market Beer & Wine in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $4.49
Purchased: Aug. 16, 2013
Consumed: Aug. 16, 2013
Misc.: N/A

Poured a honey orange clear color with 5-to-6 fingers of frothy white head that spilled over the top of the mug. Foam looked rather light on top. A good deal amount of uneven sporadic lacing along the sides of the glass. Good retention all the way down.

Lots of different flavors in the nose. Got some hops (sweet floral, citrus, pine, tangerine and orange), and malts (caramel, honey, sourdough bread and corn). Also some bitter peppery spices. Definitely a mix of an IPA and a pilsner.

Tasted pretty close to the smell. Got a smooth taste of citrus hops to start, followed by caramel and honey malts and ending with bitter spicy notes. Those spices kept lingering after. Some faint notes of orange, tangerine and grapefruit. For a pilsner? Pretty good. For an IPA, average or below average.

Light body. Thin-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. Somewhat refreshing. The 7.0% ABV is well-hidden.

Was back and forth between a 3.50 and 3.75 overall, but I guess I was feeling gracious. Decent.

Poured into a becker a clear rich burnt orange infused golden with a great looking large fluffy white crown that settled slowly leaving alot of broken lace behind.Aromas were yeasty with overripe citrus fruits and a bit toasted bread,a hint of sweet booze as well.Flavors of somewhat sweet doughy bread with a big shot the overripe citrusy hops, again the yeast plays a big role.I really liked this hopped lager,it actually seems bigger than what it is.

22 oz bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a big creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is crisp sweet doughy malt with some fruit and resiny metallic hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malts and some fruit with some peppery grassy hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent hoppy lager.

Tap @ Hamilton's. This is not the first IPL I've had, but its definitely the best. Pours clear gold with a one-finger white head. Moderate lacing. Sweet, floral hop aroma. Lots of pine and lemongrass, less of the grapefruit/citrus. Sharp, crisp resin bite up front. Mellows a little into a grapefruit-lemon-orange peel sweetness. The lager back enhances the West Coast IPA feel, giving it a sweet finish. I could drink this all night its so smooth. Very well done.
