Our Longfin Lager has become one of the go-to beers with the team at the brewery. A solidly balanced Helles that finishes clean with a hint of hops, it would easily fit in at any German beer garden. But we think it’s perfect for enjoying on the beach, the boat or anywhere else you can put an ice chest full of beer.

12oz canned on 01/11/2021. Sample from the brewery.

Clear, super pale, yellow, with some big bubbles and foamy head that drops to nothing. Nose is clean with faint floral and bready notes. Seltzer-like carbonation, light-bodied, and a bit flat on the palate after the initial fizz. Smack of lime in the first sip, followed by a mild grape fruitiness. Matzah cracker-like malt profile. Incredibly dry finish with a doughy linger.

Not bad, but it's a bit rough around the edges and lacks the refinements and nuances found in other examples of the style. An average Helles at best.

Appearance: Pours a completely clear, light, pale golden color that is so clear you can see the light champagne bubbles. A moderate, but soft bright white head. SRM of 7. (4.00)

Aroma: Mild aromas of lemon citrus, earthy grains and pale malts, multigrain cracker. Pilsner malt. Some quiet honey. (3.75)

Flavor: Flavor follows with more light lemon citrus, earthy grains, multigrain cracker atop some Munich bread malts and earthy honey flavor underneath. Rounds out in to a tame lemon wheat. Nice flavors, yet subtle. Finishes lightly malty, but minimally sweet. (4.00)

Feel: Carbonation is light. Body is light to medium. Has a nice and grainy mouthfeel. Finishes smooth with little carbonation but soft on the palate. (3.75)

Compared to Firestone Walker's Lager 1/31/21: Pours a similar color. Similar subtle malt aromas, but less lemon citrus here.

Compared to Castle Danger's Cream Ale 2/15/21: Pours a lighter color. More bready and Munich aromas. Less corn mash and malt liquor. More hop and honeyflower. More smooth.

to Surly's Hell lager 7/3/21: Pours a similar color with a midler head. More Milder aroma. More bready malts and honey. Less lemon citrus and lemonflower.

Overall: A decent lager here. It has some subtle earthy grains aromas/flavors, but much more subtle Munich malt profile. Some light grains lemonflower hops, and honey, so it drinks a bit like a light cream ale or Zwickel. It's sort of simple and flat. Even Firestone Walker's Lager has an American hop citrus twist. This one is nice, but a bit subtle. Much better on my second review. (Final Rating: 3.87)
*Would compare it to First Ave or Firestone walker again*

5/2/20...pours bright gold, quite clear. No foam. Light sweet nose. Corn and grains. Taste is a clean, flavorful grainy lager. Fades away quickly. Slightly chewy. Very clean and nicely made. Quite good.

Went to pour in a glass. It smelled like a cross between ocean caught fish and oysters. And it taste like what I imagine harbour water taste like. Stale and very fishy. Maybe I just got hold of one bad one. But I was afraid to try another one. I managed to take about 5 sips. I just left the rest cc'

Clear light gold color with good white cap and lacing.

Aroma of sweet grain and floral hops.

Taste on entry is a bit more mild than I anticipated. It's as if they wanted to offer a middle of the road beer that's a step up from AALs and if so they succeeded. Flavors of grain and hops in almost equal proportion from the start, grain that scents sweet actually isn't when tasted, rather dry actually, and the hops have more spicy punch than I caught in the scent. Nonetheless it is simple, straightforward and refreshing.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

A nice enough Lager that gets to the finish line without any surprises. Clean, well made and gets the job done.
