September 23rd, 2015 - Ballast Point with big with the ginger on this herbal uppercut. Colored much like the unflavored Big Eye, the smell packs a wallop of ginger which is fresh and rich and certainly better than any ginger flavored packet tea I've tried. Ginger gives the flavor it's sharpest edge, in a way that is fresh, potent and almost medicinal. I also appreciate the restraint of the sweetness, with allows the raw ginger to lead untainted by the temptation to taste like ginger candies.
June 8th, 2015 - The Ginger version of the big eye is a godsend for ginger heads with a puissant palate. Beautiful in color - a deeply orange and red brew - it's aroma is veritably therapeutic with tons of ginger and ginger candy aggressively moving up the nasal canal. It has a floral side too, which sends relaxing ASMR style shivers down my spine. The flavor is more bitter with more hops and a huge dank aftertaste. The ginger note tags along for the ride this time, bringing a light soapiness and potpourri, and a long lingering aftertaste where the ginger flavor gets to coast again unhindered by hops.

Disclosure: I like beers with ginger: that said its a fine line to get it right, and this offering swung and missed. Did not smell or taste much of ginger in it. The balance of citrus/hop, spice and ginger was just not right ( 2016 Alagash Fluxus, and Bissell Brothers i-Lucky are much better offerings of this type of beer). Had this beer in a pint glass, smelled of an ale light spice, low ginger: taste is a cluster F in your mouth. Very disappointing, as Ballast Point has knocked it out of the park on so many other infused beers.
