Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Reddish-amber with decent off-white head.

Smell: Seems to be a singular smell, but it is a mix of caramel, cherry, citrus and spice.

Taste: Semi-sweet malt base of caramel, cherry and other dark fruits. The hops are perfectly balanced with the malts, and provide spicy notes, as well as citrus and pine. Finish is bitter, but restrained.

Feel: Medium body, moderate carbonation. Very dry finish for a balanced Amber. Nice.

Overall: This is a perfectly executed everyday Amber. There really is nothing to complain about; it just isn't the kind of beer that I want to return to over and over again. I think that is my personal flaw and not any fault of this very well made beer.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: medium-dark orange-brown hue with no haze and a moderate effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy ivory foam. Not bad.

Smell: not too sweet; lightly astringent with a mild biscuitiness and a very light sourness. A little bizarre, but I have to say, I like this aroma on an amber ale.

Taste: caramel character without being too sweet; a light biscuitiness and again that astringency. Hops are citrusy and bitterness is on-message for the style. I would say that this beer is not for everybody, but it's certainly for me.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a surprising creaminess. It really punches my ticket.

Overall: I must say I'm not usually a huge fan of the style, but this beer really works for me. It takes out a lot of the over-sweetness and biscuity character and replaces it with lemony hops. Weird? Maybe. But I like it a lot.
