look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

Pours a finger of head on a clearer straw colored body.
The aroma is a nice lemon and grapefruit smell.
The taste has a dry bitterness flavor overall, some lemon and pineapple too. Great balance with the malt.
The texture is fairly crisp with moderate carbonation.
A solid IPA.

look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance: Slightly cloudy light-amber color with a modest-sized white head that slowly faded. Good looking IPA

Smell: Piney hop aromas feature prominently and dominate the nose.

Taste: The pine aromas carry over and feature in the taste. The finish ends fairly dry with the pine notes from the nose.

Mouth-feel: On the light side of medium bodied with a modest level of carbonation.

Overall: Good IPA.

look: 3.75 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

Poured from a bottle; into a pub glass.
Appearance - sunset orange, plenty of carbonation; thick, bubbly white head that leaves fairly decent lacing.
Smell - some mango and apricot (like Sculpin), but this is more floral.
Taste - a little pineapple here as well. A little more one sided in the favor of the hops and the alcohol shows up after it sits.
Feel - This could use a bit more balance; I like the aggressive hops, but needs a little evening out.
Overall - I find Sculpin to be a much better representation of an IPA. Big Eye is good, but lacks the necessary balance and complexity.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Pours a dark orange, amber color with a vanilla colored head, head is full of tiny bubbles, lots of lacing, beer is clear, decent amount of carbonation, looks goods.

A: Pine, resin, aromas of fresh pulled pine needles, some citrus notes but the prevailing aroma is pine, no alcohol on the nose, smells solid, straightforward, picking up some malts, smells good.

T: Hit of pine and resin, slight citrus flavors like grapefruit peel, get some malts with biscuit/bread notes, finishes dry and citrusy with peel like flavors, very good.

M: Solid medium body mouthfeel with a dry citrusy finish, easy drinking.

O: This is another world class IPA from Ballast Point, different than Sculpin, more resiny and pine forward, but a very balanced and drinkable IPA, a nice resiny introduction with a citrus forward dry finish. Definitely worth picking up.
