Excellent, large burgers. Order at counter with quick service, even when it gets busy. Dining area is simple but not too crammed. PtE on tap. A nice experience.

They have a good selection of burgers including Buffalo. Inside is really cramped. The outside is nice most of the time but when the temps in summer make this less than attractive (100+). Nothing much to recommend it unless you want a burger. Beer selection wasn't that great.

Stopped inhere for a bite to eat July 7, 9:45. Second and final stop of my Unexpected July 2018 California Dash. Crowded! Probably 80% full. Could smell it from a block away. The most seating is outside, only a few tables inside. Large burger menu, a few other items mostly sandwiches. Maybe 35 taps, four of which are their own. A dozen are rotating which seem to focus on NorCal locals, other (non rotating?) include Chimay, Anchor, Allagash, Deschutes. Pretty good selection. I sat at the bar top outside, I don't recommend it, very odd w my back against heavy traffic; I moved to a table. Ordered the steak sandwich medium rare and the sampler, all four of which were their beers.

Crowd is mixed but seems to skew older. Not too surprising here in July.

Ok they brought me the sampler (looks like 4oz pours) but didn't label what beer is what. The server didn't know when I asked and as it was crowded and I was in a bit of a hurry I just tried to guess what was what. Sadly, none of them was particularly good and I wouldn't bother ordering any of them again. Stick with the other beers.

Imperial lager at 5.8%?!
Frisky Blonde, Lazy Boy, Doggy Pils, Danky Doodle Dandy.

Loud dance music was playing, kinda out of place imo. Check that. Extremely out of place and extremely annoying.

When the bill arrived I found out the sampler was $15, which seems ridiculous even by California standards and downright criminal considering they were at best sub par quality.

I wouldn't go back.

Checked this place out for an early dinner a week or so ago.

Very busy on a Thursday night. Burgers and Brew is located on a busy street in a cool looking old house in downtown Davis.

Quality of beers was quite good, they served pretty much only solid craft and imports. I only had one, but it was a very tasty Grapefruit Sculpin from Ballast Point.

Service was fine. Prompt and fairly friendly overall.

Selection was solid. I believe they had about 15 taps, with pretty good variety. Was bummed I didn't see Berryessa on tap though.

Food was good. The burger I had was tasty and quite filling.

Overall, a fine place to check out if you find yourself in Davis.

OK, here's my opinion. I know they recognize us, my wife works for the city, we tip at least 20% and go in probably 2x a month. I gave a 4.25 because the service we get is always very good. Otherwise, 4.0 over all. The other reviewers are accurate, so I'll add some of my tips. First, scope out the special beers on the plastic signs by the entrance. Often times, those are written by someone with beer knowledge while your server may only have bare bones info. As mentioned, the beer list doesn't change often, but the special beers can be outrageous at times. I think PtY has been served here. If they're not slammed, they'll bring you a taste.

Food: Most often, my wife and I split a burger with bacon and avocado. they gladly cut the burger and bring a second plate. We get fries with the burger and order a small salad that we share. Good dinner for us, with beers. But, I also really like Breakfast Fries on the Happy Hour menu (3-6PM daily, IIRC). French fries with bacon, cheese and a fried egg on top. Ask for over easy to get the runny yolk on the fries.

As mentioned, the place is usually mobbed. Early dinner (6 PM), or late lunch (2PM), is the way to go. The new waiting area, ABC legal (CA term, Alcohol Beverage Control), is almost ready to open. When it is, you'll be able to have a beer and wait; for now, you stand around and wait.

Burgers and brew is probably my favorite restaurant in Davis. They certainly have the best burger in town and their fries are fantastic. They have veggie burgers that my girlfriend loves so we go all the time. The atmosphere is really nice, at night they put up string lights and have outdoor heating furnaces. It's fun to eat at the bar and watch people walk around. I've never had a problem with service, but they've never been exceptional either. Their food and beer is pricey though, so be prepared to drop some extra cash.

Beer list is great. It pretty much never changes which is unfortunate, but they have many styles to choose from. The prices are high, what you'd expect from getting good beer at a nicer restaurant. The draft list isn't great but the bottles more than make up for it. They have plenty of beer that pairs just perfectly with the burgers. They also (rarely) do flights of beer. For example I had a flight of double ipa's there with my meal a while back that included pliney. Good stuff and worth a visit. Just be prepared to wait a little while because it's also probably one of the most popular food spots in Davis. They also let you order to go at the cash register (also where you order a beer if not with a sit down meal).

My review of Burgers and Brew may be skewed by two things; that two of us went in on a Saturday at 2pm when it was jam-packed full, and that there was no indication of where to go to order beer.

Once I'd figured out that I had to order beer at the cash register (not at the bar), things got better. It was still crowded, there were no tables available, and while we were able to take stools at the tiny bar, it was a little claustrophobic.

That's the only real downside of this place - it's a restaurant that also happens to sell beer, rather than being a beer bar that sells food. It's at the opposite end of the spectrum from the Davis Graduate, but then their clientèle demands that.

While they do have some draught beer, there's a fairly small selection - the real strength of B&B is their bottled beers. They have a good variety of imports, especially Belgian brews, and available in 12oz bottles and bombers, so there's something for everyone.

Another plus point for the bar is that they have a variety of types of glass, many being for the aforementioned Belgian brews; and any place that is discerning enough to have those rates at least a thumbs-up from me.

My guess is that if you get in early enough to grab a table, it would be a different experience. That said, I managed to have quite a lengthy chat with the owner/manager, whose name unfortunately I didn't catch. Both he and the young woman serving beer were knowledgeable about their product and trade, and that to my mind makes up for a lot of crowding.

This is a good casual restaurant with great burgers, fish sandwiches, and the like, plus a good beer selection.

It's in one of the old houses that have been turned into eateries or other businesses on the western edge of downtown near the UC and right next to Central Park. The location is nice and convenient.

The beer quality and selection are good. It has a number of different beers on tap, including import, domestic macro, and domestic micro, plus a large number of beers in 12-oz bottles or larger. The tap range isn't great but it's good and even has a Chimay on tap along with things like Boont Amber Ale. The bottle range includes some good imports not too common at eateries and otherwise almost impossible to find at eateries in the Yolo County area like some Belgian beers (Grimbergen, etc.), Samuel Smith beers, etc.

The food is good, including great burgers, fish sandwiches, veggies burgers, etc. They also have salads and the like although apart from a small salad with burgers and sandwiches, I haven't tried these.

Burgers and Brew is one of my favorite "easy" Davis restaurants. When I don't have time to cook and I want a solid veggie burger and beer, I go to this place. It has yet to let me down!

The atmosphere is what's expected from a burger/beer joint in a college town. Loud, and sometimes obnoxious. But in the early afternoon during holidays, it's the perfect place to be. Great patio set-up, and I am welcome to bring my dog as long as we're sitting on the outermost tables.

The selection of beers here is good. Arrogant Bastard and Paulaner on tap (just to name a few), and a number of both domestic and imported bottle offerings from Flying Dog to Allagash and Maredsous. When the place is quiet, I love to whip out my notebook and do a little brew reviewing.

As with most places around here, the service is hit and miss. Most of the time, people are really helpful and attentive. Occasionally, there's a depressed kid in the service bunch who forgets to ask if you need another beer/anything else because they're too busy spacing out and biting their nails. Overall, though, the service is pretty decent.

The food here is definitely something to write home about. I usually get the garden burger and curly fries. It hits the spot every single time. There is a great selection of burgers, salads, sandwiches and soups to pair with the beer.

I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Davis. If you're a beer lover, there will most definitely be something here for you.
