I spent four days in Daytona Beach for the 24 hour Rolex race and we ate out every night. The last night we stopped at the Shore Festhaus which is a small bar set back in a shopping mall. I may not have even seen it if I hadn't checked BA first but I am glad I did. Talk about a hidden gem!

They had a pretty nice selection on tap and an even larger selection of bottles/cans. I went with my father and his friend (who are very picky) and the Bartender, Jeff, let us sample beers we have not had before. The only reason I ranked the selection at 4.5 is because I was hoping for more Cigar City on tap (which may not even be the bars fault).

The menu is limited to sandwiches but you don't even have to go past the first one! The Cajun Dutchman is what we all ordered and not only was it one of the best sandwiches we have ever had, but it came out so hot! It was so good we ordered another to split! We had such a nice time there that I wanted to purchase a shirt. When they didn't have my size Jeff called the owner, Glen, and Glen came to the bar and brought me a shirt in my size, talk about service! If I ever venture down to Daytona Beach again I know where I will be eating and drinking!

Found this place on Beer Advocate and had it recommended by a waiter at Inlet Harbor so we decided to stop by. Talked to the owner, Glen, for a while and found out he ran Berncastle's back when the Adam's Mark was still around, that was one of the places I got introduced to better beer in college. Everything was great, he had a selection of regional beers like Cigar City as well as a bunch of European beers I hadn't had. Great selection on the draft and a good selection of micro bottles (Southern Tier, Sierra Nevada, etc.)that are priced decently for a bar at $4.50. The bonus was that you could snag any 6 of the $4.50 bottled beer for takeout for only $10, which is what they charge for a 6 pack of micro in NJ anyway.

I would highly recommend this place for either a quick beer or a beer run to get craft beer at a reasonable price.

A buddy and I traveled to Daytona for a weekend trip. We found this place using BeerAdvocate on my phone. As a previous reviewer noted, it is oddly situated between a WinnDixie and a laundromat. This makes for some priceless people-watching. The proprietor, Glen, keeps a terrific selection for this little place. Happy Hour (3 to 7) includes $3 pints of draft selections. The food was sandwiches and snacks - but excellent fare with some creative flair. The best part of this find was the people.

Like most great beer bars, the Festhaus attracts smart, thoughtful, interesting people. We had a blast and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks, Glen - you made the weekend.

I went here with a buddy of mine and the first thing we noticed is its strange location. It is in a small stripmall just beside a Winn-Dixie. Dont let the size fool you, as soon as we entered the door we saw a wall of different beers. Everything from local beers to Australian beers. The bartender was very knowledgable and polite. I did not have any food here but I was generous enough to give them a 4.0. As for value, at least when I was there they were running a half price bottle special. I bought his entire stock of Southern Tiers Unearthly 22oz. bottles for $2.90+ tax a bottle. I couldnt be a happier customer.

Stationed across the street from Daytona Beach in a rundown strip mall, Shores Festhaus is a true diamond in the ruff for beer lovers. This place offers classic European and American-style sandwiches with 15 taps and 75 bottles of mostly high-end German imports and quality U.S. micros. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed: punk rock plays in the background as patrons chat it up by the bar, and beach bums come in off the shore to get some drinks and pub grub.

My girl and I grabbed a table by the back and received excellent, friendly service from the bartender. He was pouring the taps and making the sandwiches with about 15 people to serve - pretty impressive!

Standouts on the beer menu are Rogue Chocolate Stout, Dogfish Head Immort Ale, 120 Minute IPA, and Raison D'Etre, Boulder Hazed & Infused, Bell's HopSlam and Oberon Ale, about 5 brews from Stone, Samuel Smith India Pale Ale, Ommegang Three Philosophers, and Paulaner Oktoberfest. As of June 2010, taps were Spaten Optimator, Tucher Hefeweizen, Unibroue Maudite, Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse, and Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen. No macros in sight. I went with a Bell's Amber Ale - served in a Boston Lager glass (nice!) - while my girlfriend enjoyed a Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen.

The sandwiches are among the best I've ever had. We ordered the Cajun Dutchman and Turkey Reuben, both came with homemade sauces, chips and pickles on the side, in generous portions, and they were outstanding.

Overall, I will happily return here when visiting Daytona Beach again. Although this *technically* isn't the best beer spot in the area, since McK's Tavern, Mr. Dunderbak's, and Ormond Wine Co. have better selections, it's certainly a personal favourite of mine. Unpretentious and approachable vibe, kick ass beers, simple yet amazing food, and reasonable prices. Check it out.
