With fresh macerated blueberries and a lemon, you'll have to drag my body out of this bar at the end of the nite. Simply amazing. Fruity but not overpowering or overwhelming, it goes down so smooth with the fresh blueberry juices really adding such a bright and vibrant color and taste. I'm in love/limits. Darn these local beers that I can't get back home!

This is a great summer beer. As other reviewers have said, the blueberry smell in very strong. Taste is excellent, and I highly recommend (even though my wife makes fun of me for it) that one puts it in a glass with real blueberries (it's sometimes served at bars this way).

Only possible downside: if you're looking to get blitzed it will take many of them becuase of the low alcohol content. Overall this is an excellent beer and certainly the best blueberry beer I've ever had.

Single bottle from Martignetti's.

Appearance = Pretty sub-par looking. Not much different from a weak looking macro lager. Clear straw colored. Not much head at all, weak lacing. nothing going for it.

Smell = Nice, crisp, natural blueberry flavor. With a neat bit of toasted grain and malt coming through also. Can't complain about this at all.

Taste = This is a really good tasting fruit beer. The blueberry is not overwhelming in the least but it's there, noticable, and natural tasting. It's complimented very well by spices that make a definite presence: Yum..This is almost like a great pumpkin ale. There's cinnamon and nutmeg that goes really well with the blueberry. This is like a spicy, blueberry pie that's not overly sweet in the least. Great job, Wachusett.

Overall = An awesome blueberry ale. Extremely drinkable and tasty. Not overwhelming in any way.

Pours a light yellow color with a slight head and no lacing. The smell is of blueberries up front there is a little grain smell in the back. The overall taste is of sweet malt and mostly blueberries, however, the blueberry taste is not overpowering or artificial in flavor. The mouthfeel is moderately carbonated and crisp. Overall the drinkability on this one is very high, it is an easy drink beer with some complexity, very refreshing on a hot day.

Tried at the AOBF.. The golden look was appealing and the smell was slightly hoppy with a heavy hint of blueberry which was really appealing. The head lasted a short time ( in the 4 oz cup) and the taste was clean with a sweet taste. The aftertaste was nice as well. This is a really good beer froma really good company.Kudos!

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass

A: Translucent/transparent; fairly light in color...not as clear as a macro, but not as light blocking as a hefe. Definate formation a crisp, white head which fails to laste, leaving a clean, yet dissipating lacing.

S: Profound blueberry smell. Not the smell of the fresh wild blueberries in my back yard, but even the semi fresh/semi artificial smell is appreciated and solid. Light grain background supplements the fruity aroma.

T: The light taste of sweet grainy malt mixes with the blueberry flavor with is less prevalent than in the aroma.

M: Smooth, light mouthfeel. Just about what one would expect from a beer of this clarity and color, if not a tad creamier, particularly upon the swallow.

D: One of my preferred "6-man" beers. I might not start this beer, but he's likely first off of the bench. A nice change in the session from a more typical brew. Not very hoppy, and the sweetness does not come from the malt...so an interesting beer to add into the mix.

A must try for at least once to experience an interesting blueberry beer. Perhaps not tops for those who appreciate a more traditional, natural flavor, but a solid fruity beer for those who may not appreciate others such as various lambics.

Picked up a sixer on the way home from work Friday. Standard bottles as shown in the photo in a matching cardboard carrier. Nothing special really.
Same with the beers appearance as I poured it into a pint glass. Looks basically like any old light beer...has the color of miller, bud, etc. but perhaps with a more substantial head, but that didn't last too long.

S-smells malty with ever so slight a hint of blueberries. The fruit scent is very light and hard to pick up on...not very strong if you ask me.

Taste-light, balanced...very much carbonation. For me, blueberry flavor was not noticeable except as an aftertaste, giving this a nice little sweet finish. Not overly sweet though, in my opinion. Just a nice aftertaste.

Mouthfeel-good. Nothing special, but nice, clean, very carbonated, but I like it. Nothing too complex, just beer.

Drinkability-A+. These, for me, go down like water. Very tasty, the blueberry flavor, for now, keeps me interested. Not too sweet, in my opinion. I like it and will definitely go back for more. Also would be interested to try it from the tap. I definitely recommend this stuff if you are partial to lighter beers and not very into dark stuff as I am.

For what it is a light beer meant for a hot summer day it is perfect. A pleasant aroma of blueberry. Followed by a delicious proportion of blueberry. I understand that a dark beer connoisseurs die hard would not enjoy the light fruit flavored beverage. If its a nice summer day and I don't want a heavy beer this would be excellent.

Appearance: clear, gold in color, high carbonation, one inch head

Smell: blueberries

Taste: semi-sweet blueberries and a touch of grass

Mouthfeel: light bodied, high carbonation, crisp, sweet

Drinkability: One of my two favorite blueberry beers out there. I could have a six. Super sessionable. The blueberry taste does not seem artificial.

Pours a pale golden color with a one-finger head into my pint glass.

Aroma has a nice amount of blueberry in the nose. It's also a bit floral as well. Smells like a wheat beer underneath.

Taste starts out with a nice touch of blueberry that is followed by grainy wheat malt afterward. Smooth and blueberry isn't cloying.

Mouthfeel is full of the lingering blueberry and wheat malt flavors. Smooth and easy to drink. Goes down good.

Not bad. Feels just right when it comes to the blueberry as it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the beer. It's light and crisp and nice for a hot summer day.

Pours medium amber, partly cloudy. Blueberries dominate the smell, it's like baking blueberry muffins. Also, malt is noticeable in the nose. Taste is creamy malts plus a solid punch of blueberries. Very natural, real tasting blueberry, not a candy-like taste at all. Not very sweet at all, just captures the essence. Mouthfeel is quite good, a crisp solid brew. If you like blueberries, get this beer!

Filtered wheat....not much to look at.
Huge real berry nose
Touch of light cereal grains, and real blueberry jam flavor
Lighter mouthfeel....pretty standard session feel
Very surprised by this beer. Not sickeningly sweet. No fake candy flavor. Great rendition of a fruit beer

The color is a light golden hue with a decent white head. Fain aromas of blueberries as well as a slightly hoppy smell. The taste starts off like a well balanced ale, malt and hops blending nicely with a bit of a nod to the latter. The blueberry flavor kicks in after a second or two. Instead of being a blueberry beer flavor though it is just pure blueberry. The beer has a good mouthfeel, rolls around the mouth nicely. A VERY drinkable beer. Nice for a long night of commited drinking.

tap sample at the brewery

Their best selling beer, the Blueberry has a very subtle fruit flavor. Generally, I'm not too big on fruity American beers (I do like me some lambics though). There is very little sweetness in the fruit and the wheat finish ends things very crisp and smooth. It's a pleasure to drink this in the summer.

Pours nearly a clear yellow with a one-finger, quickly dissipating bright white head. Aroma of blueberry, bread, some could even say blueberry bread, or muffin, or pancake. Really tasty bready brew. Nice blueberry notes to go with the great bread character and a bit of wheat as well. No overwhelming fake blueberry taste. Crisp and refreshing. This is a very good fruit beer, especially for blueberry fans. It accomplishes its goals.

Not much head retention, which is a let-down.

Light color. It's not blue!

The aroma is nice and exciting ... very funky blueberry. Certainly gets your attention.

The taste is a pretty strong blueberry flavor. Not a lot of hop presence ... mostly a wet and sweet experience.

Overall, it is very refreshing and I find myself wanting a second pint. For some reason I feel like most fruit beers like this are always better on tap. Magic Hat #9 and some pumpkin beers come to mind in this regard. This blueberry is the same ... get it on tap! Try it!

I got this as a gift, and it was a nice change of pace, pale
amber yellow with a nice head of white but it disappears quick.
It does have a hoppy bite and a sweet blueberry chase
that doesn't overwelm but gives this beer a nice kick. I would
recommend this beer, its mellow but refreshing and the blueberry
doesn't kill the beer.

I sampled this brew in a glass after being chilled. The color is a rich orangish yellow and is very clear. A white frothy head foams up easily and fades to an edge layer quickly. Also a strong contingency of bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass. the aroma is some grainy malt with sweet blueberrry on the nose.
First sip reveals an average body and surprisingly mild carbonation. The flavor starts sweet blueberry and allows a little grainy malt to come through and then switches back to blueberries which leave a sweet taste in my mouth. The brew is very crisp, sweet and refreshing and I am sure I would enjoy it on a hot summer day. A tasty and not overwhelming fruit beer.

This is a light, crisp ale with a strong blueberry smell. What's disappointing is that you don't get the blueberry flavors like you'd think you would judging from the smell. It had strong, sour citrus flavors that finished sweet.

It pours very clear with an almost non-existent head and no lacing.

What I liked about this beer was the aftertaste. I don't know if that's very common, but I enjoyed savoring the flavor after drinking it more so then while it was in my mouth.

It should definitely be considered a session beer, and probably pairs nicely with fruit desserts and summer afternoons.

Mouthfeel is clean and light.

This has become one of my favorite summer session beers, simply because it allows me to be lazy. This kind of beer does the work for you.

It pours a light amber, and has a relatively small, around 1-finger head. The smell has a note of blueberries, but smells like any common pale ale.

The taste isn't too intricate. You get first the crisp pale ale taste, with a bit of dry hops, followed by a pleasant touch of blueberry. Not a whole lot of work goes into appreciating the beer. Like watching Sportscenter or something.

I like it as a session because the fruit flavor isn't quite as overwhelming as say, Magic Hat #9, so it doesn't get that syrup-filled-mouth feel.

This is the fruit beer that made me believe that fruit beers can actually taste good. A refreshing, crisp beer with an authentic blueberry taste goes well by itself or with almost any food. Great from the tap, especially if you drop in some fresh blueberries into your glass.

If you live in Massachusetts, you can pick up a growler of this for around $25, then refill the growler infinitely for $6. Also delicious if paired with the Wachusett Black Shack Porter, creating what the brewers call a Black & Blue.

Sampled as plain beer in a pint glass--no fruits were added. Any beer should be able to stand on its own merits as a beer and should not need fruit additives to enhance the taste.

Pours a golden straw color with a 1/4 inch head which holds well. Pretty nice continual carbonation. Nice tiny bubbled lace on glass with some thicker rings that vary in size and shape.

Aroma of corn with biscuits and fruits. Its not exactly clear that the fruit smell is blueberry as the corn and biscuit smell is more pronounced than than the fruit. The taste is a light crisp malty beer with gentle blueberry aspects. Very smooth with a nice clean finish--not too sticky or syruppy.

Extremely drinkable on a hot Summer day. One of the better fruit beers out there.

On tap at The Fours, Quincy, MA.

Served in a pint glass with actual blueberries thrown in.

Head was a frothy and lasting half an inch. It stayed almost the entire time I drank it, and was tasty.

I realize this beer is not generally reviewed well. I was even told by skettyroad that I've had it before and didn't like it.

Well, in the environment I was in, I did enjoy it. It was a light lager with a definite blueberry "tinge". Smelled predominantly like blueberry bagel. Although the blueberries were not as organic to the beer as Bluepaw, it still worked for me.

Enjoyable enough for me to order with my dinner two nights later.

This was my first blueberry beer. I had it on tap at the Gate in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It poured similar to a Bud Light, thin but foamy head and yellow. Strong blueberry smell. Strong blueberry taste also. It reminded me of blueberry muffins, which is good I guess. It was light bodied and fizzy. Very easy to drink. If you like blueberries with your beer, this is for you.
