On-tap at Applebee’s in Fall River, MA, served in a weizen glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a medium white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is loaded heavily with the smell of blueberry. There’s a little bit of wheat and hops. I thought it smelled a lot like blueberry syrup.

T: A very sweet blueberry flavor completely dominates the taste. There’s also some wheat flavor and a little bit of hops to compliment the sweetness. The malt character is faint. The after-taste is sweet and fruity.

M: Crisp, very smooth, light body, medium-to-heavy carbonation, finish was slick.

D: Tasty but too sweet for me, not filling at all, goes down easy, it’s not quite the kind of beer that I would want to stick with but it’s better than a macro, which were the only other choices other than Sam Adams & Sam Adams seasonal.

This is a popular beer style around where I'm from, although I don't really understand it. Blueberry ale. Maybe it's popular everywhere and I just don't know, but around here, there's some restaurants and bars that will dump a spoonfull of the berries into the beer and you can watch them rise and fall, and rise and fall, and rise and fall... I've never been too interested in this kind of entertainment so I have normally stayed away from this beer-style. However, a friend left a few in the fridge and I figured; free beer is good beer, right? Why not review it?

Pours like everything you've ever seen. It's the color of Coors Light and has the head of Rolling Rock. What's lacing? The flavor is refreshing and admittedly pleasant. It's very sweet and very well carbonated. It might be related to a sparkling fruit wine, distant cousins or something. After half a bottle, the sweetness starts to get sticky and the buzz barely there. Perfect beer for sweet-beer loving, session drinkers.

Interestingly, this just might be the best fruit-beer on the planet. It is smooth. It is tasty. It is pretty to look at. It goes down easily. But most importantly, it is not bad. The few fruit beers I've personally tasted have been bad at best. This is drinkable stuff, as drinkable as any adjunct lager, especially if you like sweet-tasting things.

The head disappiated very quickly, with a little ring around the glass left throughout the drink. Color is a very light yellowish amber. The smell of blueberry hit me as soon as I popped the cap. I could almost taste it when breathing the air around the beer. A little bit of bitterness to the tail end of the sip, but I could still taste the blueberry over that. The flavor sat on my tounge a little longer than I like. Not a bad beer.

A: crystal clear straw to gold color. Nice r finger white head with medium bubbles. Very pillowy head. Nice carbonation.

S: piney, earthy, slight sweetness, spicy, herbal, slight bread. Not much if any blueberry.

T: hint of blueberry with a bready fullness. A little tart. Crisp and refreshing but lacking a ton of flavor. Definitely extract blueberry flavor.

M: Finish is sweet and very smooth.

O: I wouldn't call this a blueberry beer. I wouldn't know it except I poured the bottle. More pine in the nose. Blueberry in the taste but only a hint.

A: The beer is clear light yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down, leaving wispy bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of blueberries and pale malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has strong flavors of blueberries with hints of of sugar and pale malts. It almost tastes like a blueberry muffin, except that there is a little bitterness towards the finish.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems one dimensional as it has really nice flavors of blueberries but is lacking in the smell and mouthfeel. At yeast it doesn't use artificial coloring to make the beer appear blue.

pours a pale yellow color with a moderate white head that fades to a ring.
the aroma is of sweet blueberry, nothing else.
the flavor is dominated by blueberry also. there are touches of grainy malt mid-tongue, and maybe just after that the faintest whisper of and hebral/citrus hop flavor. the aftertaste is again dominated by blueberry. it's not sticky sweet or anything, just pervasive. mostly realistic blueberry flavor.
the mouthfeel is a little thin, with fairly active carbonation.
the drinkability is good. it's refreshing, and tasty. something easy for a warm day.

Poured a bottle of this into a shaker glass.

A: Pours a straw-yellow body with a small, white head with ok retention and lacing.

S: Smells like blueberry robitussin, like syrup was added to the wort instead of juice or fresh blueberries. Did not seem like fresh blueberries were used in the process at all.

T: A slight, blueberry taste that reminded me of blueberry waffles. A nice, slightly tangy, blueberry waffle aftertaste, like after each bite of a Aunt Jemima's frozen blueberry waffle.

M: A slightly overcarbonated beer that did seem a little watery.

D: A decent taste with a fairly complimentary mouthfeel. An ok blueberry beer overall, but the taste and the overall smoothness could have used a little more work.

12 Oz bottle given to me by my father-in-law. We've enjoyed a few of these over the years. Blueberry ales seem to be rather prolific in New England...so much so that I consider it to be a style of its own.

Pours a clear, light brass color with a thick white head. The two finger head dissipates over time, leaving wispy, white lacings. This is surprisingly light for a blueberry ale.

Sweet grain, dough and a touch of yeast are absolutely buried by the aroma of blueberry pancakes. If you are looking for a touch of blueberry flavor in your beer, then leave this one on the shelf.

Grain husks and a suggestion of hops are perceivable in the flavor until the sweet storm of blueberries take over. Finishes dry.

This brew is light bodied with ample, pleasing carbonation. This is a quaffable lawn mower beer that can certainly provide some summer cookout enjoyment. In terms of quality, it is just too one-dimensional to warrant higher scores.

Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler, the beer is a pale, crystal clear, watery yellow color with a thin, lignt, white head that is low profile and barely holding together. Aromas of light sweet and tart blueberry, and it actually smells like the fruit instead of syrupy like some blueberry brews. Toasted grains and cereal make up the initial flavor, as well as the backbone of the palate, with a roasted feel towards the end of it. The blueberry tart and sweet drops in subtly about half way across the tongue, giving a lightness and decent blending to the flavors. The aftertaste kind of crashes down to minimal and muddled, which is a letdown from the consistency to this point. The finish is tangy and tart, but very brief overall. This beer started good out of the gate, but unfortunately came up lame around turn 3.

Bottle at America on Tap
Light golden color with a small white head. Light bready pilsner maltiness with a hint of earth and artificial blueberry. Not horrible actually,

Had a six pack donated to my house fridge at a party recently. This style was one of the first Wachusett's I had ever tried when they first came out, and I have not had it in a while. Poured into a pint glass. Very carbonated, lots of bubbles on the sides of the glass. Macro lager yellow color. Thin, frothy head. Slight zesty smell of citrus in the smell. There is definitely blueberries in the flavor, that's for sure. Right up front. While it is one of the better blueberry flavored beers out there, there's just not a lot too it. Very one dimensional. The ladies seem to love it, and like I said, it's a decent flavored fruit beer. Blueberry is the one fruit that brewers seem to have decent success with when making a seasonal ale. It's not one that I want to spend a whole night with, but one here and there is pretty tasty.

12oz bottle poured into a pint

Pours a pale golden straw with active carbonation and a fluffy paper white cap. Head falls quickly and settles to form a thin layer of foam with no lacing. The nose is of fresh blueberries and a cereal-like graininess. Crisp and narrow. There's no denying the purpose of this beer. Flavor profile matches the aroma. Fresh blueberries and a crisp, toasted cereal-like graininess. Smooth and lush on the palate. Nice mouthfeel.

Overall, this guy is as advertised. Fresh blueberries and luxurious mouthfeel on top of a light body. I wish the base beer offered a little bit more.

Pours a hazed golden straw color with rush of soapy white bubbles, gone quickly leaving little behind. Scent is of moderate amounts of blueberry with a touch of lemon zest and tangy wheat. Taste follows scent components but comes across as lightly muddled... blueberry flavor is moderate and lacks a sharp fresh fruit punch. Lighter side of medium, quite carbonated. A disapointing blueberry beer that lacks an aggressive and fresh fruit profile, saved only by its decent base.
