This beer was an okay choice, it poured a goldish color and had a strong blueberry smell as expected with a little bit of malt. The taste is a bit heavy in my opinion and the blueberry flavor feels almost forced and too strong. It goes down smooth enough with a decently carbonated mouthfeel and a blueberry aftertaste.

Wachusett Blueberry is an acceptable beer overall, it has a very light feel, comparable to bud light with a just a hint of blueberry flavor but a huge hit of blueberry aroma. A good summer beer that is easy drinking but not anything fantastic, a would recommend beer.

Bottle at America on Tap
Light golden color with a small white head. Light bready pilsner maltiness with a hint of earth and artificial blueberry. Not horrible actually,

With fresh macerated blueberries and a lemon, you'll have to drag my body out of this bar at the end of the nite. Simply amazing. Fruity but not overpowering or overwhelming, it goes down so smooth with the fresh blueberry juices really adding such a bright and vibrant color and taste. I'm in love/limits. Darn these local beers that I can't get back home!

Pours clear yellow gold color with very active carbonation racing up the brew to a creamy white colored head that faded average time and left excellent lacing coating the sides and a layer on top. They added blueberries and the blueberries dropped up and down like frogs dipping to the bottom and then popping slowly back up. A great looking fruit beer.

Smells of blueberry, corn, light citrus hops, biscuit, mixed berries, light caramel and grains. Perhaps the real blueberries floating in it give it the great aroma, but this smells like a handful of real blueberries - very nice either way.

Tastes like it smells with fresh blueberries, light citrus hops, biscuit, mixed berries like raspberry or strawberry, light caramel, bread crust and grains. Smells better than it tastes, but it's still better than most fruit beers.

Mouthfeel is thin and watery, with a very light body, very minimal carbonation which fades off like a lager with a nice fruity finish. Overall it was very tasty, easy to drink and enjoyable.

An acceptable, reasonably good fruit ale but nothing to write home about. Mild smell with a hint of blueberry. The beer lacks a bit of taste, straddling the line a bit between wheat beer and tasteless light beer, perhaps leaning a little bit towards the latter. Leaves an enjoyable but not overpowering blueberry aftertaste. A perfectly acceptable selection when a mellow summer beer is desired.

Filtered wheat....not much to look at.
Huge real berry nose
Touch of light cereal grains, and real blueberry jam flavor
Lighter mouthfeel....pretty standard session feel
Very surprised by this beer. Not sickeningly sweet. No fake candy flavor. Great rendition of a fruit beer

Hello BeerAdvocates... Welcome to my review of Wachusett Blueberry Ale. My first impression of this beer was obviously the bottle design. Very simple with a picture of blueberries seemingly still on the branch. And a slogan "The aroma is balanced by a subtle blueberry flavor." I have to say.. The description fits. The aroma is very intense but doesn't come off as artificial, which I love. The look of the beer is extremely light , identical to bud light , with virtually no head , if one does poke up it is thin and bright white . The beer goes down smooth, too smoth. I feel like I'm drinking water . Despite the lack of flavor in the start, Wachusett successfully accomplishes their subtle finish which I have to admit is very nice. Overall a "meh" beer.

I'm a little surprised by the reviews, as I've never seen Wachusett until my extended stay in NY and word of mouth for this beer is good.

It's a very pale beer that appears white gold on the pour and turns out be to somewhere between white and gold, pure and polished with absolute clarity. It pours like a soda, the head fizzing away quickly without really having chance to settle very much, though it lays down a layer and puts some spotting on the glass.
The nose really does have a lot of blueberry. It doesn't seem natural, being only sweet and seeming like a blueberry flavoring syrup, but it is good until the blueberry fades and grains come in.
The taste is not so pleasant, and it's a bit of a surprise. Wheat hits with an initial twang and then goes much too grainy, and blueberry gives me a little but it's mostly sour before going almost (not quite) vegetal.
The feel is also unpleasant, attempting crispness to start off then dropping off and getting slick. It feels creepy, honestly, until halfway through when the slickness fortunately dies away.
I've liked a few beers from Wachusett, so this one surprises me. At least now I understand the scores, though.

One of my favorite blueberry beers. The smell is nice, and I love how this blueberry beer is not overly sweet, and you get a nice bitterness as it goes down the hatch. Just enough blueberry flavor to let me know it's there, but not overwhelming. Good for a hot day - out by the pool or mowing the yard.

From the 12 fl. oz. can. Sampled on July 18, 2014.

The pour is straw yellow with a foamy white head and the slightest fog. Looks like an adjunct light lager.

The aroma us subtle. The toasted grain and pale malts are enhanced by the subtle blueberry note. Nothing overwhelms the other.

The body is light and refreshing.

The taste is also on the barley grain, pale malt side with a hunt of blueberry and a crisp, clean finish.

For what it is a light beer meant for a hot summer day it is perfect. A pleasant aroma of blueberry. Followed by a delicious proportion of blueberry. I understand that a dark beer connoisseurs die hard would not enjoy the light fruit flavored beverage. If its a nice summer day and I don't want a heavy beer this would be excellent.

A: The beer is clear light yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down, leaving wispy bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of blueberries and pale malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has strong flavors of blueberries with hints of of sugar and pale malts. It almost tastes like a blueberry muffin, except that there is a little bitterness towards the finish.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems one dimensional as it has really nice flavors of blueberries but is lacking in the smell and mouthfeel. At yeast it doesn't use artificial coloring to make the beer appear blue.

Had this beer on tap in a 22 oz. glass. Golden straw in color with thin white head. The smell of the beer was blueberries all the way. The taste on the other hand only had a hint of blueberry which was a little disappointing. Over all though it was a good beer and i enjoyed it.

Poured into a sam adams glass and a nice dense white head developed which had great retention and lacing for a lighter beer. Appearance was a golden / straw color with a slight haze. Aroma was very fruity and definitely of blueberry. Almost a cake like aroma. Tasted of blueberry with hints of wheat and grain. Very light mouthfeel with a light, almost sweet aftertaste.

The first time I had this was 2 years ago back in college, with no real recollection of it. This time, I am properly tasting and drinking it, poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A - pours a unique color similar to ginger ale or a white wine. It's kind of light colored with carbonation always floating back up. I think this is a bit weird because there was maybe a millimeter of head.

S - there's a strong scent of blueberry, as should be obvious. The smell is similar to a blueberry yogurt: that artificial blueberry scent with sugars. You won't find real blueberries smelling like this.

T - the flavor in my first sip was underwhelming and it stayed consistently underwhelming throughout. There is the tiniest blueberry taste that is hard to point out, and not much else in there. The beer tastes a bit like seltzer water.

M - mouth feel is very light with lots of carbonation. The carbonation feeling lends itself to drinking a soda or that seltzer mentioned above, with a slight tingle on the tongue.

O - not an enjoyable beer at all. It smells good and that really got my hopes up, but the taste did not deliver. Lacking in flavor with a less than impressive mouth feel, I would not drink this again.

Pours clear golden color with a moderate sized white head.

Smells like a blueberry muffin. This is the best part of the beer.

Tastes- As advertised. Blueberries is the main flavor and there is a hint of bready malts but subtle in comparison to the blueberry.

Mouthfeel-This is my problem with this beer, great smell, decent taste, but it is for the most part kind of watery and light.

Overall- Decent fruit beer. Nothing that will knock your socks off but a dect beer if you want some fruitiness and its easy to find on tap.

A-golden color with a smallish white head which quickly dissipates with no lacing

S-grainy malt, blueberry

T-blueberry, but artificial tasting, some grainy malt with little or no hop character

F-light body with moderate carbonation, crisp and dry with no aftertaste

O-crisp, clean and generally inoffensive, but one dimensional

A- Pale straw color. One finger head.

S- Grainy, grassy, and (yes) blueberries. Sweet as well. Fruit smell is the difference maker from this just smelling like an American lager.

T- Sweet, tart blueberries, with a grainy, malty backbone. Just like a blueberry pancake! Not bitter. Very clean tasting.

M- Light to Medium mouthfeel; not too dry. Initial sip is watery. It's easy to drink for sure, but just a little too much carbination is my only complaint.

*Overall this is a nice beer that is easy on the drinking and pleasant in taste. This is good with a few fresh or frozen blueberries to enhance the flavor. They also look cool and they move up and down in the glass.

12oz can poured into a pint glass.

A: Straw yellow, perfect clarity. Creamy white head settles quickly. Thin ring of lacing.

S: Lots of blueberry on the nose with an uninspired bready and wheaty malt base. Flat, ghost-like hops. Very one-dimensional.

T: Pretty much the same as the nose. A strong pull of blueberry front and center, and a weak base of wheaty and bready malts. Nondescript hop bitterness just for a touch of balance. Wheat and blueberry finish.

M: Light in body. Somewhat fluffy and creamy, though it does come across a touch watery. Light scrubbing carbonation.

O: A very bland and lifeless wheat-based fruit beer. Not worth a second look. It sells well enough for them though, so in that regard "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I guess.

This will be the first of many New England salutes by The CANQuest (TM) this weekend, following Winter Storm Nemo. I was in Rhode Island last weekend, visiting my buddy, attending the Albany Devs/PVD B's game and getting my picture taken at the Inaugural RI Brewfest, held at the Pawtucket Armory. I am glad that it was last weekend and another trip is in the offing this spring.

From the CAN: "Ale with Natural Blueberry Flavor Added"; "100% Endlessly Recyclable CAN"; "Pack It In, Pack It Out"; "Enjoy with friends [undersigned the brewer]".

The Crack & Glug released a cloud of blueberry odor into the air. As I was sitting in my kitchen, I was put in mind of blueberry pancakes. I had a brief finger of fizzing bone-white head with low retention. Out, out, brief head! Color was a bright sunshine-yellow with NE-quality clarity. There was really no need for me to hold it up to my nose, but I did anyway and got a whiff of full-on blueberry. Yum! Moutfeel was medium and the taste was nowhere near as sweet as the nose had led me to expect. Frankly, I was thankful as I am not big on sweet anything, especially beer. It tasted more like blueberry pie, slightly biscuity with a mild berry tartness. I love blueberry pie and so by extension, I really liked this beer. It would probably be better on a hot summer's day, but still ... The other thing that I might recommend is something that I have seen at BOS Beew Works - thaw some frozen blueberries and put them into the beer for an added shot of blueberry.

Thanks to the legendary woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is bursting with blueberries, some sweetness. Taste is slightly tart, the berries not nearly as strong as the aroma, pretty refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

This is a popular beer style around where I'm from, although I don't really understand it. Blueberry ale. Maybe it's popular everywhere and I just don't know, but around here, there's some restaurants and bars that will dump a spoonfull of the berries into the beer and you can watch them rise and fall, and rise and fall, and rise and fall... I've never been too interested in this kind of entertainment so I have normally stayed away from this beer-style. However, a friend left a few in the fridge and I figured; free beer is good beer, right? Why not review it?

Pours like everything you've ever seen. It's the color of Coors Light and has the head of Rolling Rock. What's lacing? The flavor is refreshing and admittedly pleasant. It's very sweet and very well carbonated. It might be related to a sparkling fruit wine, distant cousins or something. After half a bottle, the sweetness starts to get sticky and the buzz barely there. Perfect beer for sweet-beer loving, session drinkers.

Interestingly, this just might be the best fruit-beer on the planet. It is smooth. It is tasty. It is pretty to look at. It goes down easily. But most importantly, it is not bad. The few fruit beers I've personally tasted have been bad at best. This is drinkable stuff, as drinkable as any adjunct lager, especially if you like sweet-tasting things.

This was an OK beer. A little hint of blueberry in the aroma and taste. Yellow color, pretty think white head. Not persistent. Seemed a bit too carbonated, at least for me. It was an enjoyable enough drink, but not something I would go out of my way for. The underlying beer is nothing remarkable.
