Oh man... I bought a six pack of this on a whim to contrast my Victory Imperial Stout for the night, and what a nice surprise. This beer is quality, if you like fruit beers, that is. The blueberry taste is right out in front and can be a bit fake at times, but the aroma is heavenly. Sweet as can be, almost soda like. Extremely refreshing. I'll be buying more of this on hot august days.

Pours a very golden, light color with a carbonated, fizzy head that goes away quick. Smell is mainly of blueberry with a little grain mixed in.

Ive tried several blueberry ales and this one is about par for the course. The blueberry flavor is subtle but thats OK since its not supposed to taste like blueberry juice. There are a few other flavors trying to get through, like some general malty sweetness but thats about it. No hops or bitterness to speak of but I dont expect that from the style. The carbonation is slightly higher than Id like but it mellows out about halfway through the glass. Its a decent example of the style. Nothing more, nothing less.

It seems people get confused about these beers - they want complexity & lots of mixed flavors or they get upset because the blueberry flavor doesnt jump out like a monster in a horror movie. Neither approach is correct. Its a better summer beer served cold than a winter beer. If you like this style, go ahead and try this. If you are looking for it to be some complex, multi-layered beer....dont bother.

Pours a good looking, crisp light golden colour with a foamy white head atop the liquid. Head leaves a smattering of residue on the glass after each sip, and also has decent retention time before settling into a thin lace.

The aroma is mainly blueberry, but I picked up a bit of citrus as well as a bit of spice. Reminds me somewhat of Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat with a blueberry twist.

Flavour is very much in line with the aroma: blueberries once again steal the show, but they are cut with a fair amount of citrus flavour and once again seemingly with a touch of spice. There's a bit of a graininess/grassiness here as well. Mouthfeel is light bodied and makes for a refreshing change of pace.

I enjoyed this one more than I expected to. As mentioned, it reminds me a bit of Leinie's Sunset Wheat and perhaps a bit like Long Trail's Blackbeary Wheat, although this one is much bolder than the latter. Don't think I could drink this one often but would easily enjoy it when I did, especially in the warmer months. I'm surprised to say this, but this one's definitely worth a shot...

I'm not normally a fan of fruit flavored beers, but I do think Wachusett did a good job with this brew. Pours a pale golden color with a pleasant, but not overwhelming aroma of blueberries. The head is minimal and dissipates fairly quickly. The taste is well balanced, the blueberry flavor doesn't overwhelm but mingles well with the maltiness of the beer. Quite refreshing on a hot summer day, and easy to down a few of these without getting tired of the blueberry flavor.

12 oz into pint glass; served slightly chilled.

Big fuzzy white head atop sparkling clear straw-gold body.

Scent is immediately blueberries from the moment the cap is cracked. A hint of toasted wheat.

Taste is obviously blueberries. There's a warm toasty flavor as well and a sweet finish. A blueberry muffin if you will. The taste does not become cloying, medicinal or artificial. As you get further into the glass a very slight citrus hop presence makes itself known.

Mouthfeel is crisp to start but ends a bit watery. Carbonation is low to moderate.

Drinkability is good. I can certainly imagine enjoying a few of these on a warm summer day.

Not my favorite blueberry beer (I prefer Bar Harbor's version) but certainly not a bad one.

Think I'll top the rest of this with a stout and make a black and blue!

This ale poured a clear, yellow color with white foam. The smell was a strong, blueberry "Poptart" kind of smell. The taste was a sweet blueberry taste with malt and a bit of hops in the finish. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with medium-light body and a mildly hoppy, blueberry aftertaste. This was a pretty decent blueberry beer, but a bit on the sweet side to want to drink much more than one.

Presentation: 12 oz brown bottle

Appearance: light golden color, thin white head with little retention, and some lacing.

Aroma: a wonderful blueberry aroma –

Taste and Mouthfeel: crisp mouthfeel. Light taste of blueberry perhaps a bit too light.

Drinkability: Not bad, but I probably would not go out of my way to drink it again. It smells better than it tastes.

Clear, dark straw color. Fizzy white head with struggling lace and retention.

Smells of blueberries and with juicy hop backing. Not horribly artificial like many blueberry beers.

Tastes of blueberries and light malt. The Juicey Fruit hops from Wachusetts IPA make an appearance here, albiet much milder. Blueberry flavor fairly reserved and favorable to drinking multiples. Medium body and crisp mouthfeel.

The archetypical blueberry beer IMO. I was a gateway beer for me so I am unabashedly biased.

Drank on-tap at Penguin Pizza, Boston, MA

Poured a pale straw yellow with no head but only a thin film of white froth. Rather macro-like in appearance.

The aroma was astounding. Blueberries, blueberries and more blueberries. I could smell the beer from nearly two feet away. Freshly pureed blueberries, to be specific. There might have been other subtle aromas in this brew but they were most definitely overshadowed by the overwhelming fruitiness (and that was perfectly fine by me).

The taste however was disappointing. Some husky maltiness came through up front, along with a faint, artificial blueberry flavor. Crisp, lemony and tart in the center. The beer finished quite sour and dry with some noticeable skunkiness.

Mouthfeel was very thin with an excessive amount of carbonation. The beer turned to instant froth once it hit my tongue.

Drinkability was good. This is a light and refreshing brew, perfect for drinking on a hot summer day. It may not be the most flavorful beer in the world, but it is rather quaffable.

Appearance: Very light and thin amber/wheat colour. Translucent. Thin head, pretty carbonated.

Smell: Much blueberries, almost instantly when poured into a pint glass.

Taste: Very slight hint of blueberries, definitely not as much as found in the smell. There is a slight bitterness to the aftertaste, maybe a little bit of hops.

Mouthfeel: Very clean, light, and refreshing. There is a decent amount of carbonation that lingers.

Drinkability: Definitely drinkable. This was consumed at room temperature, may be tastier and more refreshing at a cooler temperature. Would be great during the warmer part of the year.

Pours a golden yellow color with a white head that laces the glass OK. The aroma is of sweet malts and then blueberry. The taste delivers just that. The light but sweet malt backbone is good but the blueberry flavor is the main flavor and kind of takes over the beer. The blueberry is really sweet like a blueberry pancake sweet, kind of like a blueberry syrup. The mouthfeel is nice - very smooth and the drinkability is OK but a little sweet.

An acceptable, reasonably good fruit ale but nothing to write home about. Mild smell with a hint of blueberry. The beer lacks a bit of taste, straddling the line a bit between wheat beer and tasteless light beer, perhaps leaning a little bit towards the latter. Leaves an enjoyable but not overpowering blueberry aftertaste. A perfectly acceptable selection when a mellow summer beer is desired.

Bottle (2011)

A clear golden yellow with a quickly forming white head and plenty of visible carbonation. Falls away quickly but leaves nice lacing down the glass.

Aromas of fresh blueberries and some mild grain. Simple, sweet, and fresh.

Taste follows the nose as this tastes more like fresh blueberries than it does of any hop or malt character. As a fan of blueberries, I'm fine with this, but it's not much more than blueberry sweetness and a hint of bready grains to go along with it. Simpe, sweet.

Pleasant enough, a touch syrupy, but good carbonation.

A simple and sweet blueberry treat. I couldn't drink more than one, but it's certainly tasty and the blueberry flavor seems authentic and fresh. A pleasure to drink one, but I wouldn't think of having more than that.

On tap at The Lark, East Northport, New York.

Poured a dark straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a full on blueberry muffin.

The taste consisted of upfront blueberries with a light malt and a lingering sweetness.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a tasty but overly sweet ale.

Crystal clear light gold colour with a short white cap of moderately sized bubbles. Decent head retention with a bit of short-lived lace. Strong blueberry aroma with a bit of malt, kind of reminds me of blueberry pancakes or dried blueberries with cereal. Tastes about the same, but with mild bitterness as well. Carbonation would have been rough if it was higher, but since it was on the low side it had a soft texture. Light bodied. I enjoyed this. It was fruity without being cloying and fairly refreshing.

Pours clear golden color with a moderate sized white head.

Smells like a blueberry muffin. This is the best part of the beer.

Tastes- As advertised. Blueberries is the main flavor and there is a hint of bready malts but subtle in comparison to the blueberry.

Mouthfeel-This is my problem with this beer, great smell, decent taste, but it is for the most part kind of watery and light.

Overall- Decent fruit beer. Nothing that will knock your socks off but a dect beer if you want some fruitiness and its easy to find on tap.

This beer was usually served at the bar with blueberries in the glass. Needless to say, I asked for it without the blueberries. I hate it when a place serves you a beer with something added, without asking you.

This beer was a clear yellow, with a half-finger head with good lacing.

The aroma was very mild, with light blueberries and light malts, and a very mild floral hop fragrance.

Taste was of light malts and bready, with a very light blueberry flavor. It was slightly bitter. Overall it was quite mild... if it was cheaper and if I hadn't been driving, I would have tried it with blueberries.

Mouthfeel was average overall... not chewy but not too thin.

Drinkability was quite good. You could down quite a few of these without problem.

Appearance: pours a clear pale yellow color with a 1" head that falls quickly. No lacing develops. Very light carbonation levels.

Smell: blueberry is easily detectable.

Taste: malt levels are light and the blueberry is not offensive all. Mild bitterness, bit of grass, and an overall dryness rounds it out.

Mouthfeel: mildly crisp at the start, smoother towards the finish. Very dry throughout. Light in body.

Drinkability: not voerly exciting, and I found this to be a bit to dry and not as refreshing as expected. Fruit flavor is nice, but one of these in a session suffices for me.
