With an awesome floral nose, & fresh hop flavor, “The Purple” is one of the most sessionable IPA’s out there. Beer Advocate calls it, “A damn solid IPA”.

This one was quite a nice suprise to me to be honest. I was expecting it to be a run of the mill IPA and it had a nice little body to it and really kinda won me over in the end. Poured a nice strong amber with a good two inch plus head of foamy sticky white lace. Good head retention as it really hung around for a good long while. Very nice side glass presentation as well. Smell was lightly hopped, not overpowering but good notes of citrus and pine on the nose. An underlying malt back was definatly present and rounded out the aroma very nicely. Taste was nice, well rounded flavor profile. Initial decent bite of hops quickly melded into an earthy, ugary back with a lot of bread notes to it. Very well balaanced. Nice dry finish left you wanting at least another sip. Good strong mouthfeel, thick, but not syrupy with a great carbonation. Excellent session beer. Good easily see myself having more then a few of these in an evening. Overall this was really quite good. This actually made me intrested in trying some others from the brewery and I am definatly open to trades for them.

12oz bottle poured into can glass. The brew appears a pale copper color with soapy white cap that fades fast.
The aroma is muted but some citrus like oranges is present. Not much else but maybe a hint of grass too.
The taste is citrusy and zesty with a bit of orange rind and herbal notes. No much of a grain backing or alcohol to be noted.
This is light bodied and moderately carbonated. Overall has a bit of a watery feel to it. I dont think id opt to having this again unless it was a new recipe or uber fresh release.
