12 oz can poured into pint glass.
Orange-yellow appearance, mild/moderately cloudy but with noticable white debris as well. Relatively small amount of head - white, creamy, and lasting.
Smells of sweet pineapple and lavender.
Tastes much like it smells - of pineapple and lavender and sweet lemon. And a touch of biscuit when rolled around the tongue. Clean, dry finish.
Medium-Light body, relatively low carbonation, good mouthfeel.
Overall, a scrumptiously juicy, smooth, farily solid tasting, NEIPA, without any vegetal/rotten onion flavor. And just enough bitterness to remind you it is a beer and not a tropical juice flower.

Poured from a can, dated 5/22/18.

Looks ok. Orange gold with a thick white head and sudsy lace, but the haze looks like it's got a lot of particulates from the sediment which is not so appealing (might have been avoided with a more careful pour).
Smell and taste are great, lots of tropical fruit hops, orange juice and floral/citrus hop resins. Light honey sweet caramel malts carry the base.
Feels good, smooth and juicy at first, with a well-rounded bitterness and a drier finish.

Overall a solid New England IPA. I've seen it around but glad I finally picked some up!

Had this on tap. Nice appearance and head. Good lacing as it was consumed. Very juicy. A good example of NE IPA. Liked it so I had a second pint to confirm my first impression. Will have to keep testing it to assure quality control every week.

As big as they come, arrives Wally.
a) Love it. Pours a hazy golden body, white foam cap, fair lace and retention.
s) Aroma is big, and hop-forward. Dank, citrusy sweet hop, flowershop, honey, caramel malt, wet grass, earthy.
t) Big. Crisp, sweet malty bite, that becomes a wave of complex, interesting, and original fruity and floral hops along with a mysterious, bittering, drying, earthy finale.
f) Does all the right things in my mouth, kissy, crisp, juicy, clean, fresh, well-tone dry finale.
o) A find. Try 24.

Best beer by this company hands down. I do like the Green Monster as well, but this brew says it all with a New England Style IPA. You won't go wrong for the price and the content.

Well I've said negative things about juice infused brew, especially when it's as prominent as this, but this brew ROCKS! The blood orange is so spot on that it's almost suspicious in nature. It's in your face one second then opens up to some awesome hoppiness that sticks for a few. LOVE this one! It's delicious hop aroma and taste is fantastic. You can not mistake it, yet it does nothing but compliment. Hoppy, juicy, hoppy and a perfect 7%. Awesome job with this beer.

See, I'm one of these crazy beer drinkers who believe you can get a seriously quality New England IPA outside of the big hot-shots: Treehouse, Alchemist, Bissell etc....now, dont get me wrong, those guys are brewing brilliant beer. But I feel the "rarity" and buzz , hype factors feed into some of the big ratings for these...."I stood in a line for three hours, and was lucky to get a can" buzz breweries. With that out of the way....here is an old stand by, craft brewer from yester year (1994) haha....Wachusett. Quietly holding court in central Massachusetts. Lets see if this could possibly hold up to big hype brewers.....

A hazy gold color with white and orange highlights. This one is hazy....not muddy or as chunky as lets say...Treehouses Julius and many others. Same robust, white foam cap, decent lace and very well retained.

The aroma....certainly very hop-forward. Is it as stinky as some of the seriously heady buzz New England IPA's....not exactly....but its close. A very citrusy sweet hop, pineapple and honey, creamy scented malt, tropical with a red fruit blend and slightly earthy.

The mouthfeel is about as good as it gets, not as full or thick feeling as some other offerings but certainly crisper, cleaner with a sharp malty bite, light but full of flavor. A light to medium body....but very crisp. Juicy at first with a subtle, earthy toned dry bite. Right on!

The flavor starts out with a very crisp, slightly sweet malty bite, quickly over taken by this wild combo of hop strains. Now, I like my juicy, pineapple, fruity....hop effects just fine, however the real stand out aspect to this hop charecter is the dry, earthy, golden wheat and leafy taste. I like GREEN tasting hops. Deep earthy tones that balance out all of the big tropical juicy, high-end, big alpha buds have to offer. So, the sharp, earthy, only slightly bitter effect is just perfect and very complex. But Wally has both charming hop charecteristics going for him, juicy, pineapple and earthy in all most equal parts. Impressee? You bet.

So, will Wally find his way into my top 20 IPA's of all time...maybe not. But I will say Wally is a serious contender, not to be over looked just because you can pick him up at a decent beer store or convience store.I didnt wait three hours to get him, and none of my BA peers or beer geek friends cared that much when I brought him home, but hey....guess what, all the more for me!

12oz can. Pours a hazy burnt orange with 2 inches of head. Tons of lacing. Fruity and sweet aroma. Tangerine, mango, guava, passionfruit, lime, bubblegum and mint. The taste is orange peel, lime zest, grapefruit, mint, and melon. Some grassy hops towards the end with some guava and tangerine. Floral hop finish. Medium body with lots of carbonation. Mouthfeel is a bit dry. Solid IPA I'll be buying more of.

Poured from a 12oz can dated 8/12/17 to a nonic.
Hazy, not cloudy, medium head, good lacing later, no visible rising bubbles.
Aroma is mild, hint of the hops to come.
Bitter in front and back, not unwanted though. Hint of the malt in the middle.
Carbonation makes its presence known despite no bubbles in settled glass.
Pretty good, but I swear I liked it better my first try 2-3 months ago.

Hazy, dirty gold color. Lasting small head which leaves streaks of 3D lace.

Freshly mowed grass with freshly crushed hop pellets is the nose I get from this beer.

The pale malt base is brief completely dominated by the biting hop. Chewy body with a lower carbonation level. There's a bit of apricot but is also nearly dry.

Highest Quality Per Price Ratio out there for those in New England. Great quaffable East Coast IPA. It's become my new daily drinker. It's not Tree House or Trillium, but it's drama-free, half the price, and available at my corner liquor store, so, no brainer. And 12 oz cans are nice sometimes too, especially in the summer / daytime.

Consumed 8/13/17

A: Golden tangerine with some orange at the core and yellow gold around the edges - hazy, as advertised, though not a turbid sludge (as some may desire) - pours with a medium sized white head, fades to a wispy cap, leaves some nice streaks and spots of lacing

S: Not particularly intense, but nice - bright citrus, with some nice tangerine and orange flesh, juice - grapefruit zest - green, resinous hops - some light pine - peach - light bread and light crackers at the base, with some sweetness

T: Impressively well-rounded - bright citrus, as the aroma suggests, with some tangerine juice and notes of orange and ruby red grapefruit - marmalade - floral citrus - touch of lime - light touch of citrus oil - resinous hops and a some light pine - some under-ripe peach - touch of earth - fairly clean malt base with some light bread, crackers, touch of wheat - faint hint of booze, particularly as this warms up

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, silky smooth, mostly clean finish

O: To the window... to the Wally

Huh. This is legit. I haven't exactly had anything bad from Wachusett over the years, but I wouldn't have expected this to be as good as it is. It's a solid New England style IPA. If this were brewed by a different brewery, was in 16 oz cans, and was more limited, I guarantee the score here would be higher.

Canned 5/26/17

Pours a large frothy rich 1 finger head that fades slowly, sticks around as well as sticky lacing, dark orange tan solid milk-shake colored murky beer.

Nose lots of juicy citrus, orange cream, tangerine, pithy, mandarin orange, a hint of grapefruit, a little rind and mild sweet creamy oats, little perfumey orange.

Taste very creamy rich oats wheat and malts, a little sweetness, but quickly into hops, lots of pith, orange juice and orange cream, tangerine and some apricot stone fruit as well, a mild candy sweetness brings marmalade notes, maybe a little white peach too, fair bitterness, a drier slight sticky finish with a bit of bitterness and lingering orange and pith.

Mouth is med bod, pretty creamy, decent carb.

Overall well done take on NEIPA, not too boozy, not too bitter, not too sweet, well balanced creamy malt and juicy citrus hops, much better than many of the other attempts at NEIPA out there, and this should be fairly easily available too.

L- nice looking thick and unfiltered NEIPA
S - sweet smelling, ripe fruit, hint of mixed berries. Underlying dankness compared to a lot of the areas beers, reminds me of the NEIPAs I had up in Maine.
T - a little biscuity but mostly dank, well balanced beer. The flavor here is not overwhelming, but there is nothing weird about it one way or the other.
F - wonderful thick mouthfeel from a well dry hopped juice.
O- This beer is a great example of a package store NEIPA that you don't have to wait in line for, it's been in my rotation for a few months. Great daily drinker.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Lots of froth on top of a hazed out orangey colored brew. Big pungent juicy citrus character in the nose and on the palate. Zesty, faint pine, ample bitterness, and grapefruit rind come forth in the middle. So this is their answer to the whole NE IPA craze, the best things about this beer ... its not going to break your bank and you won't have to spend a day driving and waiting in line and those are two things to brag about IMO.

a: super hazy burnt orange caramel with some darker yellow notes on the bottom. 2 finger slightly rock off-white head

s: orange, mango, pineapple, apricot. grapefruit, strawberry, and dough finish that. very juicy smelling

t: mango, bitter grapefruit, and apricot upfront. definitely a stronger initial bitterness than some of the other NE IPAs I've tried. there is a bready malt character behind that for sure. towards the end is a big hit of sweet orange. i feel like there is also a touch of alcohol present in the flavor as well that gives a little bit of a tinge when combined with the bitterness

m: medium mouthfeel, which is almost chewy-like (like many of the NE IPAs). carbonation is high

o: billed as a hazy, juicy NE IPA - it definitely fits the bill in the appearance category. very pretty looking beer. aroma is definitely juicy as well. the taste has that juice as well, but has a touch more bitterness initially than some of the other beers i've tried from the style. but, that bitterness mellows out as you drink. so, to conclude, this is a fine offering to the IPA scene. it can't quite go toe-to-toe with the big dogs in the NE IPA world right now, but its a nice alternative at a fair price point.

Its been a while since I've had ANYTHING from Wachusett, always thought they were mediocre at best. Can from Todd last night at Home brew club. Deep gold slightly hazy thin white head. Rich lightly bready malt with hints of caramel. Wow lots of earthy citrus tropical and pine from the hops. Wow that was a surprise, thats quite an IPA right there!

P- Poured from a 12 oz can,into a Cigar City Spiegelau IPA glass.Crafted on 05/01/17.

L- Thick creamy white colored head that stands 1 finger width tall, with very good retention and sticky lacing.Hazy straw colored body with medium clarity, and distorted light showing through the glass.Very high amount of carbonation to keep the head going.

S- On the nose I get heavy tropical fruit notes consisting of mango, and pineapple.Trace elements of grapefruit and tangerine, along with pithy dank resinous pine.

T- The palate follows the nose with bitter pine and grapefruit up front, juicy tropical fruits in the middle, and pine hops on the back end.

F- The mouth feel is medium thin and silky, with a moderate amount of oxidation.Slightly prickly with a fairly smooth, yet moderately dry finish.

O- This is a great go to IPA when you don't have Tree House or Trillium at your disposal.I can see myself drinking these all summer long,at such a fair price for a juicy IPA.I recommend all hop heads who have this available,to give it a try.Pretty damn good.

Bought on 5/16/17 - Can labeled as born on 04/06/17 - Poured from 12oz can into a English pub glass

L - Hazy orange juice in color, no visible trub.

S - Pineapple and citrus, a whiff of resinous hops and bready malts.

T - Orangey citrus, a bit of muddled mango followed by slight pineapple that fades into a light bready malt. No telling it's a 7% ABV brew.

F - Lightly carbonated with a medium bodied mouth feel, exactly what I'd expect for the style.

O - While it won't give some of the incredible MA brewers a run for their money it's still a good showing for a low priced, readily available entry into the NEIPA genre. I wish it came it 12 packs as it would become a regular buy for me.

Pours a light hazy golden hue. There's some light melon fruit but plenty of vegetal bitterness on the finish. It's a touch oniony as well. It is quite solid and if this was the best beer at the BBQ, I would not be disappointed.

12oz. can served in my Wachusett nonic. Crafted on 03/16/17 printed on the bottom of the can. Pours a hazy, burnished orange with a creamy, 1/2 inch, bright white head. Nose is fairly subdued - citrus and pith. Taste consistent with nose; however, it comes off a bit diluted. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with an easy, even carbonation and a trace of acidity. Not a bad beer, but hard to compete with all the killer NE IPAs out there right now. I'll have to give it a try again with a fresher can.

Pours hazy orange, little bit of foamy head, minimal lacing.
Smell is faint citrus.
Tastes is citrus foward. Grapefruit, orange, and a malty sweetness at the end.
A little thin for my liking, but overall not bad for the price point.
Better then Larry and Monster IPA.

12oz can packaged on 4/6/17, 12 days old. Decent nose but I think the beer drinks thin. Decent flavor, but lacks body and depth, especially for 7% ABV. Where did the malt go? (Full disclosure: My friends and my travels have been keeping me in a lot of very fresh Alchemist, Tree House, Lawson's, Foley Bros, Hill Farmstead, Et al. My palette has been spoiled. ) I like it, but it's not going into the monthly rotation, In this price range and with equal freshness dates I'd rather have Long Trail Green Blaze, Fort Hill Jigsaw Jazz, among others.

Read the reviews, wanted to try it

Can poured into a teku glass

Hazy , unfiltered orange, one finger frothy white foam cap, some sticky lacings

Aroma of citrus, pineapple, pine hops

Taste more of the pine hops, has some bite, lingers on the back and sides of the tongue

Nice work waaaaa-Wachusett! Good representation of a New England IPA but not thei standard bearer for the style

Nice beer
