Amazingly dark in color, half stout supposedly, half eye of the hawk which is a dark coppery red, impressive color considering the combo. Light frothy head dissapates quickly., Smells decent like any other stout but light and modest. Has a strong metallic taste to it, quite strange. other than that eye of the hawkesque stout flavor is remarkable. mouthfeel is pretty nice, in the middle there. Overall I say 3 an a quarter although the metallic taste is strange.

Almost opaque deep brown with clear garnet highlights and a frothy half inch khaki head that dissipates to a thin foam layer.

Floral hops, tar, roast malt, nutty caramel, and licorice form the aroma. Fairly complex.

Flavor reveals roast malt and an initial buttery note, which becomes nutty and deeply toasted at the slightly bitter finish. Undertones of minerals and earthy hops add complexity. Floral hop notes emerge.

Body is slightly full and smooth, with carbonation a touch low.

There's good roast character, not overpowering, and somewhat substantial malt backbone, but there's a minerally, acidic character that is offputting. Becomes somewhat metallic. May be the roast acrid notes and citrus hops clashing.

Poured two fingers of head on a black body. Looks nice.
The aroma is chocolate, roasted malt and a little coffee. Pretty good except for a slight metallic note.
The taste is watered down roasted malt with metallic undertones. There's a mild bitterness at the end.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
An easy drinker. The metallic notes took some points away, but not good overall.
