Appearance: Very dark reddish-amber hued body, lightly hazed, and topped with a few scant bubbles.
Smell: A collection of modest notes: chocolate, toast, relatively clean smoke, distant plum, far-off coffee.
Taste: Mild (harhar) milk chocolate with toasted barley grain husks and given a wispy coating of smoke. Almost gives you a hint of washed out coffee -- almost. Low fruity esters. Leafy hops remain light, too, with only a very mild bitterness. Dry, malty, downright gentle finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Lightly carbonation.
Overall: A decent mild!

From cask at the brewpub into a pint glass
A: Pours medium brown with about a finger of dense, creamy off white head. A bit hazy.
S: Very nice - hickory smoked malts are in the forefront, but not overpowering. Slight caramel sweetness in the background supports the smoke. Very little bitterness detected.
T: Similar to smell with bready and hickory smoked malts. Slight caramel sweetness to balance. Very smooth flavors - I could drink this all day.
M: Medium bodied with creamy cask carbonation. I hate to give extra points for good cask carbonation, but it's kind of rare unfortunately.
O: This is a great session beer. The smokiness adds some complexity, but is not overbearing. A very interesting beer.
