bottle, served in chalice, bottled May 2011

A - Beautiful dark straw body, with billowing soft big head, that lasts forever. Never seen better.

S - Boozy with a sharper wheat tone, mixed with some bittering hops. Was expecting something a little smoother, but not displeasing at all.

T - Medium-high carbonation that's kind of effervescent, similar to the Unibroue style. Feels like it spreads on the palate. That sharper wheat comes in after with an all booze/hop after taste going from sweeter to more dry, similar to a lighter weizenbock. Really interested to see the IBU on this.

M - Great. Got some real meat to it, but not too much. The impressive head retention really makes it work too.

O - Very nice. Maybe a little too boozy for the style, but I wouldn't turn it down.

A - hazy amber color with a finger of head that retains well and leaves some goo lacing.

S - raisins, sweet malt and some funk

T - sweet sweet sweet... Raisins, plums and sweet malt

M - slight carbonation burn, but cuts the sweetness nicely to make it not too cloying

O - this is a great tripel... Maybe a little slightly too sweet, but I like it... 4's on the board

On-tap 4/25/2012 at Julian’s, in Providence, RI served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a bright gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick on the glass.

S: The aroma contains fruit, Belgian yeast, some spice, light caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of caramel, spices and fruit. Then some breadiness comes in from Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. The hops presence is mild but brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sweet.

O: Tasty, goes down dangerously easily, not too filling, strong but well-disguised kick, good representation of style, this is a very good stronger Belgian-style beer to drink for a while.

Pours an absolutely ideal shade of gold. A bubbly, fluffy head is perched upon the top, thanks to the strong, continuous carbonation. No visible sediment. Very picturesque. The aroma is practically god-like. A complex and intriguing marriage of bitter and sweet. Desirable yeast aroma is present along with caramel, both sweet and sour apples, pear, banana, lemongrass and spices. Taste - velvety and bready Belgian yeast and malt. Tart and tropical fruits, lemony hints. Spicy phenolic characteristics as well as a definite bitter hop presence. Honey, although not nearly as sweet as the aroma may have suggested. This beer really coats the mouth well and the finish is somewhat dry. Some Belgians are borderline cloyingly sweet with no other complexities - not so at all with this masterpiece. One of my absolute favorite beers. I cannot imagine how this could get any better!

A: A cloudy pale orange pour with tons of particulate floating around. Stupidly huge fluffy white head on top. Takes forever to fade, never really goes away. Leaves only dots of lacing on the glass however.

S: Wow, super strong aroma, almost stinging the nostrils. I get lots of cloves and yeasty bread. Some nice lemons, pear, banana and perhaps some grass. Spicy too - mostly black pepper I'd say. Very refreshing.

T: Loads of cloves and typical belgian yeast. Bready. Lots of spice, again very peppery. Fruits are there but much more subdued than in the nose. Lemons and pears mainly.

M: Medium bodied, definitely doesn't feel like a 10%er. Very drying on the back end. Tons of carbonation helps it feel lighter than it is I think.

O: Certainly a very big and loud tripel. Whew. Aroma and taste are very strong. Carbonation is high to boot. Lots of pepper (almost overly so) and belgian yeast in this one for sure. Excellent example of the style.

This was the last bottle that we had sitting in one of the coolers at work. I decided to give it a go and poured it in to my Duvel glass. Jul2010 stamped on the bottle cap.

Dark cloudy gold color. The head was big and bone white. Lots of brown floaties in the beer, leading me to think that we had this bottle in the cooler for quite some time. Active bubble rose from the bottom of the glass, pushing some of the floaties in to the head, making it look like some one ashed their cigarette in my beer. Lots of sticky lacing lined the glass.

Some sweet malt, clove, banana, and yeast. A little bit of alcohol. The taste is actually more bitter than the nose. Kind of spicy and there is a nice taste of alcohol. The sweetness borders on a nutty taste. Very enjoyable taste.

Incredibly smooth triple. Very nice flavor. All of the sediment in the bottle and glass was not very appealing, so I'll need to track down a fresh bottle and give it another shot. Overall, an incredibly nice beer.
