Thanks for busting out this rarity, Evan.

Brilliantly clear amber body topped by a fluffy white head.

Vinous, tart, oak-heavy nose. Red apples and grapes, a touch of pear-like esters. Spicy oak.

Oaky and vinous palate, esters bring flavors of pear and red apple. Plenty of spiciness from the wood. Slight tartness, but certainly not full-on sour. Fairly refreshing despite the medium-full body and huge barrel presence (not to mention the massive ABV). Big tannins and wine barrel notes in the finish.

Pretty enjoyable stuff overall, and I can only see it getting better with age.

Bottle shared by Jason. Served in Hill Farmstead stemware.

A - White foam settles to a thick collar, wisps, and minimal lacing. Opaque apricot body.

S - Massive aroma of red wine, spicy oak, and brettanomyces. Sort of like an imperial barrel-aged Orval.

T - The taste is a delightful blend of sweet pale malts, tropical fruits from the brett, red wine, and spicy oak. Alcohol is very well-hidden.

M - Tannic and dry oak texture, with some light vinous acidity. Medium-full body, with pleasant carbonation, and some light alcohol warmth.

D - A really enjoyable Belgian offering, and miles better than its older brethren at this stage. With the higher alcohol it's best to have a few friends on-hand, but I'd happily drink a 12oz glass of this if I ever ran across it again. Definitely one of the best surprises of the evening for me.

Courtesy of jedwards and claaark13. Served in an Oerbier stem. Pours a honey-orange hue with a swirl of off-white foam and a bubbly froth around the edges. Nose expresses caramel notes, ethanol, light pit fruit and a hint tartness. Taste is slightly tart with a little bit of chemical astringency. Mouthfeel is medium-light with a trace of acidity and a pleasant, consistent carbonation. Overall, a decent beer but it's not even in the same league as the Special Reserva 2000.

At De Dolle, this 750ml 2008 Stille Nacht bottle with "RESERVA" stamped in red on the label was poured by Kris into a tasting flute. Like that sentence, this beer was a mouth-full, but in a much better way. Split three ways if I remember correctly. Maybe four.

Very fragile, just-off-white head adorns a cloudy, coppery-brown body. The most delicate lacing is weightlessly attached to the opening of the glass. Very! fine.

Aroma is huge oaky vanilla, bourbon? whiskey barrel (no, Kris says white wine barrel), huge tropical fruit (no, Kris says no tropical fruit was added... okay, joking), tripel-like in aroma, very strong and punchy, peppercorn, the oaky bourbon is so big in the aroma that there is only a whisper of the ensuing pucker. And later after it warms, I get deep dark dried fruit that has been left for a couple weeks in a plastic container with bourbon. Lord.

Taste is that familiar Dolle acetone. Oaky, vinous, evaporating chemicals, concentrated rotting orange, bright and light mango which is outweighed by the vinous qualities, zesty citrus competes with the Flanders Red portion for a refreshing balance, the pucker from the tartest of red fruit is offset by a perfect amount of savory butter. As it warms, I get the juice of sour peaches.

Exquisite. While tart and a bit overpoweringly sour, the finish mostly fades to a painless sour. Upon further warming it is magnificently drinkable. The strong character shouts high ABV and I most happily submit my self to this calling. Wow. I have not had (read: will never have) the 2000 Stille Nacht Special Reserva, but my understanding is that Stille Nacht Special Reserva translates to complex as hell crazy as shit.

A huge thanks to Kris for pulling this out with next to no hesitation. Stars. I was inside so I couldn't see them. All in a line.

Pours a reddish/brown color, white head, spotty lace. Nose is vinous & oak right up front and followed by some dark fruits. Again, more red wine and oak on the palate with some smooth booze and dark fruit. Tons and tons of wine & oak...seriously. Body is medium, good carbonation, dry tannic finish.

Really smooth, lots of wine & oak, good sweetness. This beer is really an enjoyable one, but I actually preferred the 2000 vintage over this one. That said, they're very different beers, so don't expect them to go head-to-head.

Bottle at Kulminator. Light hazy amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma of raw sugar, cachaça, white wine, light oxidization (port wine) and oak. Nice. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of white wine, raw sugar, cachaça and sweet alcohol. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. Really nice, the best of the Reservas I've had so far (05, 08 and 10).
