I have lived in Lafayette for a year and half and I am from Houston. The Tap Room is by far the best in Lafayette for craft beer selection. You can often find some very interesting beers like Lagunitas One-hitters or one-offs from local breweries. Despite having a Facebook account they rarely let customers know about the special craft selections. As with most of lafayette, the specials are all geared towards the Macro beers. If this was anywhere else I would rate it lower but considering what we are working with in South Louisiana this place is pretty good. The service is spotty. I have had some great experiences, yet the past couple times I have gone the bartenders don't even know all of the beers are that they have. For example, maybe getting a confused look on their face if I ask for a Saint Arnold Bishops Barrel, when it is right in the cooler and the only reason I asked was because I saw it.

Actually pretty surprised with how good of a bar like this is in lafayette. In the contrary of the past reviewers, The service was great, This guy seemed like a manager came up to me and asked me what I wanted and then asked what I was interested in, I told him that I couldn't decide between the Brooklyn brown ale or the sam adams east west kolsch, so he gave me a taste of both in small glasses. I liked the fact that the environment was smoke free plus pet friendly apparently since a customer brought his dog to the bar with him. The customers are nice but pompous. The selection of beer was nice, A lot better choices than there used to be on tap, about 40 of them, a dozen BMCs, a dozen being local stuff (Abita, La 31, Heiner brau, covington brewery) and the rest is a genre of macro/ Micro stuff including : maredsous, brooklyn brewery, sam adams kolsch..etc. The bottle selection was not as big as the green room but they definitely went for quality versus quantity (ayinger, chimay, maredsous, blah blah too drunk too remember) also if you prefer spirits they had some great top shelf scotches (Macalan 21, johnnie walker blue, glenlivet 21..etc) and other spirits. The bar looks like a fake old neighborhood pub but it is comfortable, they even have a breathalyzer machine at the entrance which was funny but so that people can blow into and realized whether they need a chauffeur or not. As far as prices go it was about the same as most bars imports being more expensive than domestics. That was my first time there and I will most likely go back.

When I first heard about this place after it opened I was very excited that Lafayette was getting a bar with a real focus on draft beer. But after about a half a dozen or so visits I'm very disappointed with this place. The staff knows absolutely NOTHING about beer or how its supposed to be served properly, and on more than one occasion I've gotten beer that was past its prime served to me.(or possibly just dirty lines?)

You'd think a place with 40+ taps would have some interesting beers on tap, but not this place. They have mostly American and Euro macro lagers and the small amount of American craft beer they have is not bad, but they are far from interesting and easy to find elsewhere(Abita, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan).

For a bar with this many taps you'd think they'd have more to appeal to the beer geeks in the area but they don't. Sadly, Albertson's supermarket has a better selection of craft beer than "The Tap Room.

After over a year in business and atleast 6 visits from me this place doesn't appear to be getting any better and I won't be going back.

The Lafayette Tap Room has a nice and long horseshoe shaped bar. There are tables scattered about. Large windows make the place feel open and comfortable. Some live acoustic music was playing that added to the feel. The bar is also non smoking which I enjoy.

Service is something to be desired. A bunch of cute coeds that know nothing about what the bar serves. They are friendly and working for tips.

They have lots of taps. About 30. Though many are Euro macros. Stella, Peroni, Bass, ect. Lots of Abita with some Lazy Magnolia and Hook & Ladder (though the bartenders had know idea what either were). The bottle list is a bit more extensive. Several Sam Smith beers are available. Chimay, Duvel, Orval, Schneider, and Celebrator.

Overall I like the Green Room better (much better quality and bottle selection). Though this place is not bad. It is a nice place in a neat part of town, but is kind of lacking for a top notch beer bar.
