With a pop loud enough to require eat protection, a fruity aroma fills the air. A gentle pour resulted in a truly massive head that was Snow White made of large coarse bubbles. The body is a gorgeous hazy amber, lighter than most tripels. Certainly one of the most aromatic brews I've tried, apple, banana, pear & spices. Taste is not too sweet or salty or tart, perfectly balanced. The 3 grains show up in the flavor, imparting a bread or pie crust. I'm going to borrow another reviewers word, lots of "geyser" action make it a fun beer to watch. Light & flavorful. I'd describe this as an apple, banana, pear pie of beers. It's outstanding & one of my favorites.

Pours a golden yellow with a few fingers of white foam on top. Head formation is huge, even with a moderate pour. Good head retention with a few large patches of lacing left behind. Aroma is pale, biscuit, and bread malts with clove, citrus, pear, and grape notes. Lots going on in this dry aroma. Flavor profile is pear, citrus, and white grapes right out front. Biscuit, pale, and bread malts form a supportive, semi-earthy base for the fruits to shine. Mouth feel is slightly effervescent, with a medium thickness. Overall, a very pleasing triple that offers some different notes in both the aroma and flavor profile. It has a bit of a dry taste, but is wonderfully executed and tasty.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz bottle.

Poured into a big Duvel glass

L: produces about 3" of beer and 3" of soapy uneven head. not "rocky", but not level. Carbonation geysers from the bottom of this more-amber-than-pale tripel. Head reduces to 1" after 2 minutes, light lace trails down the glass for 20+ minutes. This beer looks fabulous

S: light-but-complex. white grape, dry pear, vanilla, definite banana-yeast w/ a distinct hint of rising cookie dough. clove

T: vanilla, white grape, sweet apple, sweet pear, the finish on this is magnificent. It trails gently off the palate. no "off" flavors, not even hints, tastes fantastic

F: foamy, chewy-but-light on the palate. This has the slightest waxy/slick character that leaves a faint coating on the palate and makes the great flavors linger. Not cloying

O: Well this is a masterpiece, I can't even mince any points. It's one thing to identify whether a beer is doing what it's supposed to do according to style, and it's another thing entirely to simply enjoy the beer. Tripel Karmaliet hits all the right points and I love drinking it
