Can - pours an orangey-amber hazed ale in the glass - 2 finger tight-pored off white cap lasts well, laces the glass. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of musty pumpkin shell and toasty-bready malts, a hint of sweetness, some grassyness. Medium bodied, demure rounded character. Flavor is a very pleasing pumpkin and caramalt blend in the front, some toastiness, some spice, some hop bittering to balance, this intensifies a bit going to a lingering balanced finish. A mild pale ale with light pumpkin spicing - flavourful but demure without being understated - a very drinkable pumpkin brew. I like it.

Rebranded now as Pioneer Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Surprised myself in that I have never had this. 473 ml can purchased from LCBO and served cold into a pint glass.

Appearance - moderately hazy dark honey brown color. Little head to speak of an disappears as quickly as it is poured.

Smell - quite a bit of pumpkin, some earthy notes and lots of spices namely nutmeg and cinnamon to bring some cohesiveness. A vegetative note kind of detracts from this,

Taste - plenty of pumpkin, earthy flavors with some brown sugar sweetness. Some funky earthy vegetative ness that works but is just a touch too strong. Finishes with spices.

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, carbonation is low, no issues, but not a stand out.

Overall - a serviceable if unspectacular pumpkin ale.

Appearance: A orange body that shows ample thin carbonation that produced a finger and a half of head that retained quite well but did not lace.

Smell: I always find it hard to review smell for pumpkin ale, because it's made to smell like pumpkin and spice. Well, this one does, and does well, but not so well that it's earth shatter or ground breaking. So pretty much the same review as just about every other tolerable pumpkin ale.

Taste: Starts with a solid amount of malt of which the pumpkin takes a back seat initially before it comes forward with a solid amount of pumpkin and spice that just kind of peters off.

Mouthfeel: Comes off as a bit too moist and flat as the carbonation seems to offer a creaminess which accents the pumpkin portion of the beer, but not much else. Transitioning is ok, but the beer comes across as basic. Decent spice aftertaste though.

Drinkability: Light bodied approaching medium, the carbonation leaves me belching a bit. It's refreshing, but generally I expect a bit more punch from a pumpkin beer.

Final Thoughts: A perfectly serviceable pumpkin beer, but nothing to write home about. It strikes me as a cautious brew designed to not screw anything up, but not knock anything out of the park.

Purchased at the LCBO for around $4.00 for a 500ml bottle. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- 3- Opened weak. Poured no head at all. Dark amber

S- 2.75- Just crap. WAY too much cinnamon and spice

T- 2.75- Pretty bad here. Almost cough syrup backbone. Overload of cinnamon and spice

M- 2.75- Very weak and watery.

O- 2.82- And this is a GIFT score. Will never try again

Food Pairing

Didn't try anything with this bad beer

Yuk

Pours a dark amber colour with a quickly dissipating head.

Smells clearly of pumpkin spice....sweet but not a cloying smell.

The pumpkin spice takes a back seat opening to a nice malty backbone. Not too sweet....very palatable.

Mouthfeel is nice....not too thick or thin.

Overall a very nice offering. I would buy this again.

Look - Dark orange. One centimetre fast-dissipating head.
Smell - Definitely pumpkin.
Taste - Not too sweet to taste like pumpkin pie in a glass but not to nonexistent that it tastes like pumpkin.
Feel - Mild carbonation. Feels nice going down.
Overall - A very good pumpkin beer from one of the best breweries around.
