Very Good
Notes: An American style India Pale Ale. Light amber in color with a big citrus hop aroma. A decidedly hoppy, bitter, and moderately strong ale, this beer is for the hop lover.

A very fresh hop forward IPA. Very little malt backbone, just enough to keep it from being overpowering.

One of the best brews we tried on this trip.

Poured from the 16 ounce can a dark, clear orange color with two fingers of rich beige head. Moderate amount of lacing left behind.

Aroma of grapefruit, pine and caramel malts.

The taste is definitely more malt-driven than hoppy. Bready and earthy malts and just a light hint of grapefruit and pine. Light bitterness to the finish.

Medium bodied and smooth with a moderate carbonation.

A decent IPA from Kirkwood Station. A brighter hop presence would have improved.

On-tap at their restaurant.

A: Clear, dark copper body. Thin head. Decent lacing.

S: Bitter hops, a little bit of sweetness from the malt.

T: Nice hop flavors in this one, a little one-sided though. The bitterness could be balanced better.

M: Nice texture, good carbonation.

O: Not a bad IPA, but kinda generic and forgettable.

A - Poured out a clear, copper color with a small, tan head of bubbly foam. It left some sudsy trails of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled of spicy hops with some caramel and maltiness.

T - Nice sweet caramel with a burnt toast maltiness. It had a mild spicy bite of bitter hops.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - This is a pretty tasty IPA. I'm glad my friends brought me a growler of this.

On tap from the brewpub poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Sticky thick rings of lacing on the glass. Floral hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character that has malty and floral flavors behind it. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness. This brew lacks complexity, but decent overall especially for spring/summer drinking.

A - Clear, amber with 1 finger head that left a nice cap, and lots of lacing.

S - Lots of citrus and grapefruit notes. Floral and some light malt in the background.

T & M - Not overly hoppy, but with just enough to balance with the malts. Not a very high ABV for an IPA and you cannot taste much alcohol. Some nice malt notes and just the right amount of carbonation.

O - Solid IPA. Had 4 of their pints and this was my favorite. Others with me agreed. Very solid IPA.

Highland Kashmir IPA, draft, 5.6abv

A Golden, unfiltered, big fine bubble head to start, but it faded quickly to a spotty covering that didn't last the whole glass. Good lacing. 3.5

S Yeasty and bready with a piney hop aroma. I'm surprised so much yeast aroma comes through over the hops. I like it though. 4

T Big hops up front, malt comes through in the finish. Clean finish, some astringency, but less than other IPAs. There is a definite yeast smell/taste to this one. Reminds me of a cask ale. 4

M Medium to full body, feels thick on the tongue. Carbonation is good. 4.5

D A very good unfiltered beer, nice hop aroma and malt flavor. Glad I tried it and would have another. 4

Poured into a pint glass.

A - Very nice hazy orange color with some mild brown hues. there is a nice dense .5 inch head that s retained very well. Recedes and leaves some nice lacing.

S - Sweet grapefruit and citrus hints with some pine in there. Nice grassy hop character. Bready malt.

T - Starts with a nice bready and almost buttery malt character that is quickly overtaken by some nice citric notes with some faint pine. The grapefruit side of the hops are more prevalent in teh style of a West Coast IPA. I was pleasantly surprised with this beer. It was delicious and medium bodied with nice complex hop notes and malt back bone.

M - Very nice smooth and crisp at the same time. Medium body and well balanced hop and malt character.

D - Very high. Not too overwhelming.

Pours a cloudy, dark copper color with a golden color along the bottom of the glass. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of floral hops and citrus. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong floral hops, citrus, slight sweet malt, and slight earthy malt. Overall, a good body, blend, appearance, and aroma. Only complaint is the lack of complexity.

very dirty and hazy ruby red and orange, light head. basically no retention

floral amarillo with slight pine and grapefruit.

a light sweet citrus bitterness, mostly at the finish. very floral throughout. slight pine flavor with a light malty biscuit like backbone.

i poured this myself, not sure if i killed the carbonation but it was there when i did the partial fill. slight to little bite, pretty full bodied.

this is sooo easy to drink and has tons of flavors going on. quite glad i got to try this.

Ah, the classic IPA - back in style at Highland after Alandales almost killed it off with cutbacks in ingredients and quality.

Hazy, amber orange pour in the shaker pint, tan head leaves a sheet of oily lace.

Aroma was subtle, just hints of citrus and orange - west coast style. But the taste was superb, pronounced grapefruit, pint and orange dancing together well. Well hopped, it finishes clean and crisp.

Yep, if you like hops, try this classic IPA out. One of the best in town - well done!
