I wanted to close out my St. Paddy's Day drinking 2024 with the nitro version of this bad boy - and boy was I glad...
Great looking nitro pour that was topped off with a creamy white head. The smell was muted, but still solid and the taste was solid as well, with a mouthfeel that wasn't as creamy as I would have expect, but still, solid is the word of the day. Decent offering, one I am glad to have had...

From a nitro can. Amber color with an inch of dense cream colored head. Malty aroma. Light body and silky feel. Caramel malt with a herbal note on the finish. Nice

Pours a finger of white head into my nitro glass. Retention is stellar. Lacing is solid. Body is dark copper and crystal clear. Looks great.
Nose has substantial caramel and toffee. Pretty sweet, nearly desert level, almost comes across as perfume. Faint noble hop character. Smells nice.
Plenty of caramel and toffee on the flavor, very malty. Perfume-esque. Tastes good, definitely desert-y.
Carbonation is lower than low. Extremely light bodied. Relatively sweet, but it works just fine and isn’t cloying at all. Bitterness is low-moderate and does a lot of work in keeping this beer in check. Good mouthfeel, somewhat balanced.
Drinkability is nice.
Overall a great malty beer, with a deceptively adequate bitterness.

L-Pours a one fingered frothy and nitro fizzed head. Good carbonation and fun nitro look at the beginning. Apple juice colored body.
S-Creamy sweet butterscotch and malt. Apple juice, apricot and some dried raison and prune. Some slight cracker as well. Slightly tart aroma towards the end.
T-Slightly malty sweet and bitter creamy flavor. Hints of apple and roasted malts. Maybe some caramel as well. A little stale towards the end. Finishes a bit flavorless and watery. Skeletal.
F-Mouthfeel is a bit watery to be honest.
O-Meh. Looked cool at first then the quality dropped a bit for me. Not totally bad, just not fully fleshed out in my opinion.

Excellent dark gold body, very clear; thin yet dense and creamy head. Light caramel nose; light herbal note. The taste is low-key toasted malt with a slight hop herbal zest. Outstanding mouthfeel; smooth with a refined velvety feel; pillowy residual sugar feel.
I detest nitro cans yet will still try beers packaged that way. Sure enough, the initial gush of foam spills over the can and splashes on the floor. Other than that, this is a tasty beer with a wonderful mouthfeel. Would the smell and flavor be more intense without the nitrogen packaging? Perhaps. Maybe I'll find such an offering for this beer.

Prod August 31st 2022, exp November 30th 2023.
Pours a gorgeous clear copper with a head of foam that you expect from a Nitro.
I'm smelling English malt that suggests sweetness, with a bit of nuttiness. Hop level is low.
The taste is caramel malt with the English twist. I get a bit of something that resembles apple. Hops are more assertive here than in the smell. I do get a nutty hint or 2.
Mouthfeel is the Nitro standard.
I wish it was fresher but dang I am enjoying this.

Nitro can poured into a pint glass.
Look is a copper/amber color and thick creamy off white head. Nice lacing with very fine bubbles in the foam.
Smell is biscuit, grain, and yeast.
The taste is less intense, with bready malt and some hop bitterness.
Nailed the mouthfeel with a smooth creamy body from the 'nitro' and low carbonation.
Overall a nice cream ale.

Nitro Draught
Appearance: Clear amber color. Off white creamy, mousse-like head with excellent retention
Aroma: Very little. A bit of light biscuit or light toast.
Flavor & Aftertaste: Similar to aroma. Very little taste despite it's color. Light toast and light biscuit. Sweet and dry at the same time. Low bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body, slick & oily. Moderate astringency. Drying. Clean short finish with lingering bitterness.
Overall: Very different beer/style. This is not like the American cream ale. It is more of a red ale. Very drying. Low aroma and low bitterness. Did not really enjoy it, although the nitro can made for an interesting, visually good pour.

how have i not rated this one until now? seems crazy, i remember drinking these eons ago, fairly regularly, but it impressed me a little less in a recent session, this is like weirdly malty and full for a cream ale, a little cheap tasting, and even though it says its plenty fresh on the bottom of the can, it doesnt quite taste that way. that said, the nitro on this is ideal, both for the style itself and in terms of the excellent execution, this is super creamy the whole way, soft and frothy and expansive, a nice texture for this, not sure it would do much for me overall without that. i think i always kind of forget that this is reddish not pale, different from the kind of cream ale most americans have grown used to, more malt in aroma and flavor, and definitely more substance and body to it. it smells slightly oxidized, very toasted and surprisingly dry for what it is, that kilned malt thing without the caramelized heaviness or richness, things like old wood, wet soil, and bittering hops come out, and there is a yeast element that i like a lot despite this having a touch of astringency (especially at temperature). the flavor is similar, nutty and grain driven but on the dry side, earthy as they come, must and moss and bread yeast notes, definite bitterness too, again not common in cream ale, so this is a little different, almost more of an irish red meets an english pale. there is a slight metallic linger to this, unamazing burps, but killer smoothness from the nitrogenation that really makes this. dont love it like i used to, but it definitely is unique. the big can seems like a lot of this. feel like i need a whiskey sidecar with this...

Appearance: Pours a dark, deep amber, orange copper hue with a brown tint. A strong light creamy head. SRM of 16-17. (4.25)
Aroma: Moderately strong aromas of cream, some vanilla, milk.
Flavor: Mild flavors of smooth cream, milk, vanilla. Bready, smooth, dry. (3.75)
Feel: Incredibly soft, smooth, creamy. Creamy and milky. Goes down too smooth. (4.75)
Overall: Actually a pretty darn good cream ale. Nails the appearance, pretty decent aromas and flavors of cream. Incredibly soft and smooth body. Not sure about the poor ratings on here because this was enjoyable. (Rating: 3.99)

Got the nitro can with the widget. Nice color.
Not sure if my can was flat but it wasn't really carbonated & didn't form a head very well but what I got held it well.
Smell was very clean & sweet but didn't have much else going on.
Taste was nice. Had an evolution of flavor as the beer warmed up. Fresh from the fridge it was malty & sweet with a very mild bite from the hops but as it warmed up it became a little hoppier & by the time I got to the bottom it was mostly sweet.
Alright mouth feel. Wasn't thin but wasn't too full-bodied. Nice middle ground but more on the thin side.
Tastes almost like a flat cream soda if it was a beer & not so sweet.

Looks amazing, like I'm in Ireland or something. Smells and tastes just okay, but looks and feels so pretty and smooth, it's just a solid bier, here. Scratch that, it tastes better than ok, like a neutral amber ale with no off-flavors or a british mild bitter.
A bad cream ale but a good beer
