Didn't seem to have a whole lot of taste.

The beer is a reddish amber color with a thin but lasting smooth, silky head. The beer smells sweet with a strong toffee aroma with a slight hint of bitterness. The beer is malty and sweet and very typical for this English style. The beer is super smooth with a dry, slightly bitter finish

From a 500ml clear glass bottle.
L: Clear red/amber colour with a thin head but lots of lacing.
S: Lots of sweet, malty, toffee goodness.
T&F: Creamy, sweet & malty. Light body with a crisp finish.
O: A classic English bitter. The slightly higher ABV gives it a subtle edge and a lift. Smooth, soft & refreshing.

Decanted from an 11.2 oz (330 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; no production information.
A: Pours a clear, copper color with a distinctive red tinge and a foamy half inch very light tan head. Decent retention and lacing.
S: Floral bouquet with the aromas of toffee, pepper and spice. Mineral and woody.
T: Toffee, raisin, and cashew nut flavors, all slightly overpowered by the bitterness which lingers into mild peppery aftertaste. Could swear I tasted iron.
M: Medium bodied with solid carbonation. Refreshing and goes down easily.
O: I think this is a fairly representative version of English Bitter, although the categories around English Pale Ale, Bitter, ESB are somewhat arbitrary. Perhaps a bit more flat out bitter than other versions I have had.

Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a thistle glass. Very pretty crystal-clear amber color, almost cream sherry-like in appearance. Brewer's notes state that this is "...a beautifully malty ale with subtle notes of toffee and fruit." This description is spot on. There is a ton of light toffee sweetness and flavor up front. As you let it warm in your mouth, you begin to notice notes of orange, pear, tart apple, plum, and peppery spice. Medium body, with a clean, peppery finish. Delicious and well crafted. This one deserves some love!
