12 oz bottle, w/o freshness info..

Uninspiring look, minor head, very quickly departs leaving no head, no film, no collar and surprise, no lace.

Bleh..some caramel malt notes are the "highlights" here. Low carbonation and zero reason to go for more then a few sips...pass this one by

This brew was served at The Maple Tree (barbeque; highly recommended) on 5/24 and again 5/27 during my vacation in Riverhead.

It's a thick dark orange color, a little heavier in the middle, with an off-white head just taller than one finger. Retention is good, and it sits at that height pretty consistently while leaving creamy broken sheeting in its wake.
This beer has what I expect and hope for in an Irish red: it's very well balanced and isn't heavy in either aroma or flavor but offers strong hops and malts. It's got some caramel and breads balanced with earth and softer green bitterness. It has a great complement of sweetness and bitterness working in accord. The flavor is a touch deeper than the aroma.
The body is medium, and this wouldn't work as well as a classic Irish style if it was much heavier. It's got lots of depth, but what really impresses me is a clean and robust balance against an incredibly silky smoothness that coats the tongue without slickness and flows like silk. Impressively, it doesn't give up crispness for all the smoothness.
