DATE: July 20, 2017... OCCASION: orange cream ale showdown, after sampling Czig Meister's own take... GLASSWARE: Howard's Pub pint... pours a pale gold body with active, steady bubbles that build a snow-white creaminess that drifts... sharp, pitched orange citrus, almost to an astringent quality... tough to detect other scents, besides ginger, honey, and apple... fizzy, mellow, sippable, but with a lingering malt effect... cream soda buzz combines with a zesty orange peel to dominate the profile... slightly sour, with strong orange and clementine, this is some dish water with a vibrant finish.... this just doesn't present as a beer, so I feel it difficult to rate this much higher than the parts themselves...

Nice beer, better enjoyed in Summer than in February. Cloudy golden color, light head, subtle orange and honey notes, as you would expect, and you will be overcome by the sensation of Summer with every sip.

It is what it claims to be, and that's okay with me. Heavy on the orange zest on both the nose and palate. Tastes like a Creamsicle, with some nice zesty bitterness and a hint of pine resin on the finish. The honey adds a touch of sweetness that isn't too overbearing. I'm probably off the reservation here, but I thought this was a pretty enjoyable brew.

Smells like a garden, which sounds better than it actually is. In the flavor, my taste buds don't pick up "orange" - just vegetation. This might be for some people; it's just not for me. Both the smell and flavor (sort of a sour citrus rind taste as it warms) are off-putting for me. So much so that I wouldn't even be able to enjoy it as a refreshing beer on a hot day. I will be able to finish it, but I'm not inclined to get it again.

Looks like standard cream ale, has the yellow color and not quite clarity, thin white 1/3" head that vanishes. There was some floral orange blossom and rind kind of aromatic impression.

Taste is a mild orange impression over a relatively bland affair otherwise. Light mouthfeel, almost watery. I would only recommend this to people who are real aggro about their orange blossoms otherwise it feels lacking in every direction.

Looks more like soda than beer, minimal white head that disappears in seconds revealing huge carbonation, color is golden.
Smells of vanilla, honey, orange soda, very appealing.
I get a good bit of orange and honey up front, followed by some malt and earthy hops, with a dry finish.
The mouthfeel here is where it's a bait and switch, this has no business being labeled a cream ale, the high carbonation, and crisp, dry finish in no way feel like a cream ale.
Overall, a good beer, but had it not been labeled a cream ale, I wouldn't have been as hard on it, this is a fruit/vegetable beer all the way.

Bottle into a pint glass. Pours a light golden orange color. Thin layer of white fluffy head that quickly dissipated. Bubbles trickle to the top throughout the drink. Nice summer looking ale. Smells light and refreshing. Looks the same. Little smell of corn. Taste is a traditional light lager or ale with a burst of orange upfront. Clean tasting and finishing cream ale. I think it's quite good for a cream ale. You can sit in the sun and drink multiples since its IBUs have to be less than 20 and ABV under 5% (guess). Good beer for ladies. Sort of a crossover beer from bud light to harder IPAs. I don't love it but I think it's a good cream ale.
