I'm surprised there aren't more review for this, as I've been seeing it everywhere lately. 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: This is darker than most oatmeal stouts seem to be, verging on opaque with a hint of light getting through, though on the website they say it started as a stout and they added oatmeal later on. Not sure if that makes a difference. The pour leaves a mocha-colored and soapy head with big spots of bubbles and carbonation slowly dissipating. Sticky and raucous lacing hangs around.

Smell: A nice mixture of ripe blueberries and malt sweetness. I usually dislike blueberry bears on account of most of them being used for a lighter-bodied wine cooler-esque beer rather than a real beer. Here, though, whether it's because of the heavier body with the stout or not, it's pretty pleasant, and adds a bit of fruit to the malt, roasted characteristcs, and slight sweetness already present. I imagine this is extract instead of real blueberries, but I can't really tell, which I suppose is a good sign.

Taste: The colder this brew is, the weirder it tastes. So let it warm up a bit if it's been in the fridge. The oatmeal stout characteristics seem especially roasted and bitter, more so than other sweeter and creamier varieties, so I'm not sure the oatmeal is really doing that much, as it doesn't seem to be terribly detectable here. That said, the sweetness and ripeness of the blueberry, because of the bitterness and roasted malt of the stout, actually melds quite well here. It's a sipper, and it's more visceral than most fruit stouts, but I like that about. Finishes semi-dry with a shot of blueberries and bitter citrus, rounded out by some husk, grain, and roasted malt flavors.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied though slightly watery with an odd burst of carbonation at the end that doesn't fit quite as well as it should.

Drinkability: I was pleasantly surprised with this. With the higher alcohol content and the fruit backing the body, I imagine some folks wouldn't dig it too much, but especially since I'm not a big blueberry brew fan, this won me over. And around $9 a six-pack is certainly a good deal.

L: Pours a nice black color with a medium bodied and medium sized tan colored head that left some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Smells of sweet roasted malts, sweet blueberry (extract I believe), darker coffee and chocolate aromas and a sweetness from something like brown sugar.
T: Tastes of sweet roasted malts, sweet blueberry, chewy oatmeal, some brown sugary sweetness, and hints of coffee and chocolate. The blueberry is there but isn't overpowering like in some fruit beers. This one meshes the flavors nicely so you can tell it's a stout with some blueberry flavors in it.
M: Rich, smooth, medium bodied feeling, perfect amount of carbonation.
D: Pretty drinkable, this was a nice take on the style. Mixed the flavors very well together and a great feel to it.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter, nice dark brown topped with a beautiful light brown head and nice lacing. The smell is dominated by blueberry. The blueberry taste is strong with good roasted malt and significant carbonation. It went well with cheese and crackers!

My local CB& Potts makes a great blackberry stout, so I had high hopes for this.
Pours a pretty thick dark brown to black color with only a little bit of head.
Smells like a mild (dry Irish'esque) stout with blueberry essence. Not too bad so far.
The taste is weird. The blueberries hit up front, but they aren't really very sweet. The stout flavors are almost non-existant and I pick up a wave of (out of place) hops in the finish. There's also something that just tastes "off" in the finish. The Sunset Wheat blueberry flavors are much better than these and the stout base is pretty weak. It tastes like a homebrew gone wrong.
I finished one glass without too much of a problem, but I'm regretting this six-pack already. My wife flat-out couldn't stand it.
I won't be revisiting this one and I bet this 6-pack lasts a while.
There are definitely worse options, and I admire the idea, but the result is a bit of a bust. This score is probably inflated a little because I wanted to like this.

EDIT: Future tastings of this are actually making me think it's even worse. The hops in the finish combined with that "off" (burnt plastic?) flavor really make this a complete dud. I normally don't change reviews, but every subsequent bottle has made me think this was even worse than the last. Worst beer I've had in years.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Medium brown pour. Super dark brown and very light on the edges. One finger light tan head with good retention and great lacing.

S: Big blueberries. Kind of a metallic blueberry aroma. Slight caramel, chocolate, and roasted notes.

T: Light caramel and chocolate on the tip of the tongue. Big blueberries dominate. Very artificial. You can almost taste the can they were in. The metallic flavors are bitter. A touch of sweetness comes towards the finish, along with oatmeal and big alcohol. Big for a 7.5% beer. Not much of an alcohol sting but just a rubbing alcohol taste.

M: Light body, bordering on watery. Not much else besides a light alcohol sting lingering on the tongue and in the throat.

O: My first Buffalo Bill's beer and disappointed. I think I've heard good things about their pumpkin ale. This was pretty bad. Not much works with this beer at all. Not a drain pour, but damn close. Definitely stay away, unless you need the tic.

Roomie brought this number home.. given my dislike for their pumpkin beer (although the original and first I believe to be bottled), I am interested in this one.

- Very nice dark black/brown.. minimal light tan fizz, leaves some spotting and a small ring in my cheater pint glass.

- The zesty bright fresh blueberry aroma is very present.. and smells very good. Not much in the roasty grain department though.. blueberry certainly dominates. Little light cocoa and perhaps a tad bit of bitter grassy hop..

- Grainy, chocolate, sweet, subtle oats and grain.. nice zesty fresh blueberry flavor without seeming fake and synthetic... rather good and balanced. Certainly good.

- Medium bodied, slightly creamy... tad bit chalky..

- Overall an interesting, and quite a good beer if you are into blueberries.. which I happen to be. A well made and balanced brew.. a great buy/.

(Bottle coded B3209 510 E):

Pours a very dark brown color body, with a huge tan head, average sized bubbles, somewhat diminishing. Very hoppy aroma. Some acidic fruit too. Light fruit taste, berries. Some roasted notes too. Inhaling deep, blueberry, fruit. Almost a fake taste, plasticy. Blueberry aftertaste. Some graininess, but not very good. Sour. More roasted as it warms, but still that fake fruit taste or something. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Not offensive, but not very good either. A bit bitter.

I got this for a friend when he was in southwest Wisconsin. I traded him a beer since I never tried this but he did warn me about the huge head and he was right. These bottles probably went through a second fermentation because the bottle cap had a lot of force behind it and even with a slow pour there was 5 times more head than beer. The aroma is still sweet with malts and blueberries. There are some robust flavors mixed with sweet blueberries but this is way too yeasty and it almost has more of a Belgian texture. Oh well as least I got to try it, but I’m sure that this is not the way it is suppose to taste.

Poured from the bottle into a glass.

Black liquid; some light passes 'round the edges.

A khaki head which quickly dissipates; no lacing.

Fairly strong blueberry nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Blueberries recede in the taste; the oatmeal comes forward. Fairly plain after a promising nose, but this is drinkable & is by FAR the best I've had from this brewery.

Presentation: Short bottle, twist cap. Label is dominated by blueberries, ABV is marked, date code is cryptic.

Appearance: Very dark with just a hint of ruby around the edges, tan colored head with good retention and a nice amount of lacing.

Smell: Almost entirely blueberry - smells like a real blueberry, with just a hint of dark chocolate and coffee.

Taste: Fruit juice, a bit of sweetness. The mouthfeel is a bit thin to back up the berry flavor.

Overall impression: Smells good, but the taste just doesn't back it up. I think its going to be a bit of a challenge getting through this six pack.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. This pours a dark brown with a tan head. The smell is mostly of artificial blueberries. The feel is medium to light, lighter than most stout. The taste is okay, blueberries and bitter stout, but not something I'd get again.

12oz. bottle

Pours a very deep mahogany color with a small tan head that maintains. Mild lacing on the glass.

Aroma is kind of muddled. I get some blueberry and some roasted malt smells, but they don't seem to mesh very well and rather compete for dominance.

Tastes like it smells - blueberries and roasted malts, but just not that complimentary of each other. Medium bitterness, dry finish.

Full body, mild carbonation.

Stout and blueberries sounds like a nice combo, but not quite so in this beer. Not offensive, just disappointing.

Dark ebony with a thick finger of sand colored foam that leaves some fine lace behind. Smells pretty blueberry heavy with roasted malt. Tastes more blueberry than anything else, otherwise a fairly dry, lighter than most stout with mild hop bitterness in the finish. Alcohol is very well hidden. The oatmeal comes through in the creamy, chalky mouthfeel. A decent brew thats a little too light for an imperial stout but better than other BB's beer that I've had in the past.
