Bottle pour shared by JealousChalice at DarthKostrizer’s place.

Pours a murky yellow-orange with a beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small chunks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, spices, and yeast. Taste is the same with some slight fruity flavors that come out as well. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is very saison-like and pretty tasty.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a murky light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is strong wheat and bananas. The flavor is wheat, corn, oranges, bananas and pepper. The hops add quite a bit of spiciness to the overall flavor but don't add much bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Brown 33cl bottle, best before June 2012, poured into an 'Augustijn' badged chalice in June 2011. The second beer of an 'odd-ball beer tasting evening'.

The beer is a dull golden colour, slight haze showing. Thin white covering for a head.

Very little in the way of smells, semi-sweet summer garden hints, but no real aroma to talk about.

This is a sweet fruity beer, with a yeasty front that struggles to hide the 8.0%ABV alcohol content this beer packs. The overall feeling is fine, in fact very pleasant, the alcohol sits well within the strength and depth of the brew.

I'm a fan of the sweeter beers and this is my sort of brew: the beer is well balanced, a little too sweet for some maybe, but in my opinion this is good stuff.

The lead bartender at Wavins in Schaerbeek, Brussels, Belgium was kind enough to sell this to me for carryout last night. Lucky for me! Easy to pour a big, foamy, frothy head on this. Only a little lace. Color is a lightly hazy amber. Aroma is divinely of malt, oranges, honey, and bananas. Flavor's pretty good too. Slightly more bitter than the aroma. Great body. Sipping beer. Slightly warming at the end of the finish. Good beer.

Pours a deep golden amber with a pillowy, slightly off white creamy head. The nose is light, some sweet candied sugars with a decent yeast presence, light spice with notes of lemon, vanilla, and honey. The taste is bigger and sweeter than the nose. Loads of candied sugar with sweet caramel malts. The yeast and peppery spice is dulled down and the feel is very muddled and sugary. The body is syrupy and oily, the finish is thin and has a light soapiness in it.

Thanks for opening this with me, JealousChalice!

Hazed, golden yellow with a moderately sized near-white head that leaves chunky lacing behind.

Pleasant aroma of Belgian yeast, hay, earth and grass, and mild hop.

The flavor is similar to the aroma, with a moderate level of bitterness. The yeast is the star of this beer, with some mild, earthy fruit flavors.

Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation. A pleasure.

A very nice saison/Belgian pale.

750ml bottle, poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. Enjoyed on 1.16.16, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a nice, lightly hazy copper and gold color, ample bubbles rising to the top of the glass with a big white head, soapy and frothy with great retention and lace. The aroma is pleasant, bright and refreshing. It has loads of yeasty spice, banana, clove, peppercorn, cereal grains, and some grassy hops. The flavors are right in line with the nose, big spice forward yeast, clove, cereal grains, peppercorn, a bit of hop character with a soft vanilla and sweet alcohol at the finish. The mouthfeel is good, very coating, lively, crisp, full bodied with a creamy finish that offers a touch of sharpness.

Verdict: A very good Belgian Strong Pale Ale from Brouwerij Verstraete. Bright, refreshing but with nice complexities. A great beer to sip and enjoy on a nice afternoon.

Hazy golden colour, with a two fingers head that doesn't hold, No lace. Smell of fruits, oranges, pears, spices (is that allspice?). Sweet palate, oily, medium body. Taste of fruits, pear, spices. I don't know why I think it would be great with some blue cheese.

From 6/18/2011 notes. Drank at the 4AD club.

A: Hazy greenish/orange/yellow, subtle rising microcarbonation, short head.
S: Peach/Apricot, fresh but not harsh yeast. Really beautiful.
T: Apricot, but not so sweet, apricot jam, but also like a nice belgian blonde.
M: Light carbonation foaming on your mouth, medium body.
O: Great, very special with the hops flowers.
