Atlantic Liquors

Stopped here when we were taking a long weekend in Rehoboth Beach. In fact, we stopped there twice so we could get some more beers that aren't available here in PA. It's a warehouse type of vibe which is all good and they have a "healthy" selection of Craft Beer, most being more widely distributed selection of beer which isn't so special. However, they did have some really nice selections from Aslin and Equilibrium which is always a big "plus" IMO. Some of the local smaller DE breweries were also represented there which is another big "plus".

Haven't been here in a few years but I had stopped in a few times in the past and had been pleased with the selection of basically anything you could want that's alcoholic. It's a typical warehouse type of looking place with lots of shelving that displays many kinds of wines, beers and liquors. If I were in the area I wouldn't hesitate checking the place out again.

 

 

Always have a good selection of beers, including a lot of different Dogfish Head beers. The store being in Delaware helps as one does not have to pay tax on the purchases (on the already reasonable prices)..

Atlantic Liquors used to be the only game in town for craft brews, but a lot has changed in the past 10 years. There are now multiple outlets where you can get craft brews, and a few that offer an extensive selection. Other than that, the inside of Atlantic is looking a little bit run down whereas some of the newer store look and feel great. They've still got a decent selection, particularly if you're looking for six packs or cases, but their singles selection hasn't quite kept pace with the competition. On the up side, singles are kept cold here. Overall it's worth a stop - there's not much to do in Rehoboth anyway.

I hadn't been here since 2007. I returned last week when I went home to the DC area last week and man, did I miss it. It's a large, warehouse style store as you can see from the picture. As always, they have an excellent selection of Dogfish Head products, which isn't surprising given their proximity to the brewpub in Rehoboth. I only come here for beer, and believe me..there's plenty of it. There's a decent sized cold case to the left as you enter. If you walk past that, there's a big section that contains warm beer in cases, six packs, 4 packs, singles, and 750 ml bottles. Lots of domestics from Dogfish, Victory, Bells, Flying Dog, Heavy Seas (Clipper City), etc., all the usual macros, and a nice sampling of Belgians and other imports. All in all a very solid lineup with reasonable prices, although you might be disappointed if you're looking for some kind of weird hipster artisinal brett peppercorn pomegranate leek acorn free-trade-coffee farmhouse sour stout or whatever. Nobody is going to come up and hold your hand and kiss your ass, so be prepared to pick your own stuff. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

 

"The Greatest Liquor Store in the World"? I don't think so...

I went down to Rehoboth with the wife and friends and made it a point to stop at Atlantic and Outlet. The place is very big, almost massive and it's got a feel to it. There is booze everywhere, in boxes, shelves, pallets, floors... The aptly named "warehouse" section at the back of the building has tons of cases for bulk buying, but I saw some dust around...

The coolers upfront by the register have macros and more macros, and among the craft offerings you'll find every major name including Lagunitas, New Belgium, Goose Island, Anchor, the local Mispillion, Oskar Blues... but nothing really outstanding. I bought a bottle of Bourbon Barrel Arrogant Bastard and left. It is unlikely I will come back here.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Warehouse-style beer and wine store. Kinda like Sam's for beer. You have to check the dates carefully - some of the beer there is really old. (Hint: if the bottle is dusty, chances are good that it's been there a couple of seasons.) Although there is a decent selection of craft beers, Atlantic Liquors probably does more volume in (and therefore pays more attention to) the mega-breweries than the local breweries. The store is on the right-hand side of the road southbound (ie, headed toward the beach), and I STILL don't stop there. There are better places.

 

When I am up in Rehoboth beach, this is a place I always stop by. I've been coming here for years and while there are more warehouse places this place has never steered me wrong.

A large place with a pretty good selection. They seem to offer more six packs and cases of craft, and the bomber selection is a bit low. There are a few singles at times but too far and few between. Also the Belgian imports are a bit low as well.

Service is really solid, and it's also a place I come to always pick up Greenville Pale Ale. Being that it's also Delaware no sales taxes it's always very reasonable.

I never saw the hype around Atlantic Liquors until I read some of the reviews and realized I had not gone in the back where the beer was. I have been going here for years and just perusing the coolers. Sure I once found a bottle of Thumbsucker and scored a case of Brooklyn BCS at a great price but had no idea what was around the corner.

Large, cavernous warehouse type place. No service whatsoever though I didnt really need it. All the usual suspects beer wise-Stone, DFH, Victory, locals EVO and 16 Mile, Brooklyn, a few Yards, etc. Not much in the way of Belgians or UK beers.

Worth a stop to see what you might happen upon. I really prefer Cape Wine and Spirits up the road. If in the area do both-there are some subtle differences.

Edit 10/20/13-Was in here again this weekend and really walked out being impressed. They seemed to have practically everything that is available in DE and there was plenty of help for the asking. Meanwhile the last time I was in Cape up the road they have shifted their beer to another part of the store and it seems a bit disorganized. Oh well-I tend to see myself in here more often then Cape nowadays.

A - A large warehouse dedicated to providing people liquid libations while they're on vacation... A volume store that is awkwardly laid out and poorly organized... There is some festive music piped over the speakers and this seems to be the place where the local party goers frequent...

Q - Once you get past the layout and organization issues, this isn't a bad store... Lots of stuff and good prices... Overall a decent store...

Ser - Do to the lack of organization noted above, I need some assistance in tracking down a sixer of Twin Lakes Greenville Pale Ale... The employee I asked was knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient...

Sel - Largest selection I've seen in the Rehoboth Beach area... A wide array locals, micros, imports, etc... Limited singles, lots of sixers / cases...

Val - It appeared that prices were a tad lower than other local stores ($0.75ish per sixer) and much cheaper than the PA prices I'm accustomed to.

Overall, a decent store that will do nicely while in a pinch on vacation...

Midway between DFH's brewpub and Outlet Liquors. You think I'm not gonna swing by?

Atmosphere: More of a store than Outlet. Beer is relegated to the far corner in both cooler and warm. Liquor and wine surround the beer. There are a few single end units with DFH.

Quality: Well-lit and clean, the store was doing brisk business. Good selection too.

Service: No service. Not many people were wandering the store and I wasn't looking for any help. Per my MO, that's a 3.0.

Selection: Good selection. Plenty of BMC but the warm aisle had a good line-up of craft. DFH, Southern Tier and Sierra Nevada were plentiful. Evolution (ESB) was there too. This is the beach, so there were many more macro offerings. I was looking for 16 Mile and left empty handed.

Food: N/A.

Easy to find on Rt. 1 just before exit to Rehoboth Avenue. Stopped here to pick up some canned beers before hitting the beach. The store was a zoo as there seemed to be 100 people in the parking lot and the store.

We didn't spend much time here due to the crowds and the fact the store is not laid out very well. A cart would have been tough to navigate through the crowds. The cold beers were easy to get to near the front registers. They had a decent selection of local beers. We picked up some cans of Greenville Pale Ale and 21st Amendment Brew Free or Die IPA.

Didn't ask for any help or seek any service, but I didn't see anybody working except at the registers. Located close to the beach, prices were a bit higher than other stores off the beaten path.

This was my favorite stop out of the "big" three stores in the area.

We stopped in on a Saturday night and the place was packed. This is my only complaint...the place was big, but cramped in a way. Their layout, of everything, was a little disorganized.

With that out of the way, the beer was tucked back in the back with cases, six packs, and singles. Almost each case on display had a six pack sitting on top of it. I liked the idea. There were two small coolers with singles. Towards the front of the store there were cold six packs.

The selection was the best at the beach. There were locals; 16 Mile, DogFish Head, Twin Lakes, Evolution. And then there were the others; Ellicottville, Stone, Rogue, Troegs, Victory, Magic Hat, RJ Rockers, Sierra Nevada, Southern Tier, Allagash, Kona, 21st Amendment, Abita, Boulder, BrewDog, Chimay. Just a wide array of breweries.

Service was also really good. Not only did I receive attention, but so did everyone else around. I don't think I saw an employee just standing around. They were always talking to a customer.

This will be my first stop when I come back to the area.

Stopped here while in DE. It's probably a mile or two away from DFH Brewings and Eats. The place is huge so you can't miss it.

At first all you see is a small cooler of beer up front surrounded by liquor. I looked around nearby and that seemed to be the entirety of the selection. Looking in the cooler, not a ton of local stuff was popping out at me. WWS was available though, and all the other regular or current bottled DFH offerings if that's what you want (though with the brewery a 10 min drive away, you're better off buying there).

We decided to check out the liquor just because, and suddenly we round a blind corner and you see a huge warehouse with boxes, nay, pallets of alcohol stacked up. There's a decent area for beer, though a ton of it was macro or Yuengling.

I wound up buying a bottle of Allagash Black (for something like $15, though I later saw this down south for $9.99 - damnit!). They had some of the interesting higher abv Brewdog stuff, but it was all $18+ a 12oz bottle.

Service was essentially non-existent. If I hadn't been willing to peruse the liquor I'd have walked out never knowing there was a large contingency of beer in the back.

Overall not a bad place to get a fix or browse some of the local or regionally distributed beer, but the prices are high.

Atlantic Liquors is the largest liquor store in the Rehoboth Beach area, well at least in terms of beer. There is a cold case near the front registers, but the majority of the beer is in the back left of the store. While it isn't dirty, it does have that warehouse feel to it, not exactly clean.

A good selection of beer for Delaware, always having DFH, Evolution, Troegs, and Victory on hand. They have a decent stock of big bottles ranging from Rogue and Stone to Ommegang, Heavy Seas, Brooklyn, and more recently Brew Dog. There are two cold fridges in the back with singles in them. I am a huge fan of mix 6 packs, but there is nothing to put your singles in! This is quite an annoyance, and I think that if they had some sort of holder out, they would do much better with these cases.

Service is spotty. I have been in there when there seem to be far more people working than is needed, yet no one paid any attention to me (which typically I am fine with). However, on more than one occasion workers have been rather rude to me. They have a policy of typically carding everyone, which I have no problem with, but sometimes I have been asked for my ID in a very brass manner.

Either way, if you are coming down to the beaches this is a great place to stop. There usually won't be anything amazing that will knock your socks off, but its one of the best that Southern Delaware has to offer in terms of selection.

They tout themselves as the Greatest Liquor Store in the World. Well, they are good, close by, and reliable, but the greatest, maybe not.

If you've never set foot in this locale, you might be confused when you walk in the door. Liquors to your right, wine to your right a little further down, and beer placed all over the store(in coolers in the front, huge selection of cases and craft beers in the back). Their selection of all forms of liquid embibments is great, and they will most likely have what you came in for. With the addition of a new cooler for craft beer singles, this place is a great stop for cases, 6 packs, and mixed 6 packs we well.

The service is fairly good. We happen to be locals and frequent this store so often they know our faces. They have many registers, so check-out is usually fairly speedy. It gets packed in the summer time with tourists looking to stock up for the week. It is in a great location, right on Rt 1, and makes for ease of access getting in and out and on your way to downtown Rehoboth/Dewey areas.

One of our few go-to places and we usually visit at least once a week, just to see what is new. We don't venture much into the liquor and/or wine areas frequently, but they are fully stocked. Beer is typically our number one concern, and this place has both a great standard and revolving selection of beer. If you don't see what you are looking for, just ask, they can either tell you that they don't carry it or suggest something similar. Once in awhile, you will find some rare bottles. Plan on spending some time in this place just browsing around.

This is my go to place when I am up at the Delaware beaches or on my way to Ocean City, MD which is almost every weekend in the summer.

My wife and I like it because of the huge liquor selection and a good variety of craft beers at a good price. The craft beer section requires some searching but they have bombers, singles, cases, ect. They have a huge selection of wine but we are not wine drinkers.

The location is great too since it's right on Route 1. During the summer this place is packed so the service was average but when I show up early the staff is more than helpful.

A pretty good selection, if not explosive. They have a good lineup of regionals, including Evolution from Delaware and most of the kinds of things you see in the area at decent stores - Rogues, Stones, Terrapin, Victory, Troegs, and the like. The beer is, however, sort of hidden in a weird dogleg behind the cold cases, so be persistent in looking.

The wine and liquor selection, however, is outstanding. And this is a great step up from most of the resort-oriented beer stores that specialize in 30 packs of cheap crud. So if you're in town beaching it and need something other than, say, a big pile of Miller Light in cans, stop by this place. You'll find something worth having.

I stopped in this establishment after checking in at our hotel in Rehoboth Beach. We were staying for our wedding and I wanted to pick up a couple of beers to share before the ceremony back at the hotel. I found the place to be laid out to cater to the wine crowd with the beer located in the back.

The layout is not terrible, but it takes a minute or two to get the setup since it really isn't arranged in any way other than cases to the rear and sixers and bottles near the cases of each brewery. They have a decent selection of craft beer and the coolers are close to the register if you are just looking to grab a six pack or bomber and go.

The selection is fairly comparable to other locations in the area with a few items you might not find at Outlet or Cape. I enjoyed the chance to browse, but noone really attempted to assist me. I consider the value the best part with more items on sale than other stores in the area - very good quality w/ seasonal items and rotating beers on display like Theobrahma and Chateau Jiahu. They carry both the Blue Hen Rum and Vodka also which is nice since neither of the other liquor stores had it in stock.

I visit rehoboth about twice a year for the past few years.. last visit was the first time I ventured out to see what some beer stores in the area had.. From all the reviews it seemed that Cape was the main place to go. After visiting Cape and being largely unimpressed I decided to stop in Atlantic, figuring that if everyone is apparently going to Cape, maybe Atlantic will ahve a lot of stuff no one has picked up. This turned out to be a good move.. Atlantic seems to easily be the superior store in the rt. 1 area. The place is set up like a warehouse and you can pretty much just browse around. First time I went they had dogfish Immortale a few days before it was being released (they wouldn't even sell it yet at the brewpub or such).. this past visit they still had 2 cases of SN bigfoot from January which really blew my mind. Overall there isn't much rare or such to blow your mind but its definitely a good place and worth stopping in. Definitely the best place in the area.

1 of 3 regular stops when I'm in the Rehoboth Beach area. Small selection of cold single bottles as well as 6 packs and cases. Probably the best selection of warm cases in the area.

Nice selection of bombers and seasonals as well. Service could be better but they're always friendly at the register. They need the guys on the floor to pick up the pace and offer to help find what you're looking for.

Prices are usually about 50 cents to a dollar higher than Cape Wine and Spirits but I would still say that they are reasonable. If they cut down on their macro selection they could do even better with their craft selection, but then again, couldn't everyone?
