Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with a large foamy head with medium retention and some light lacing. Aroma of honey and residual sugar is not as dominant as I would have expected and there is a lack of ester that I would have expected in this beer. Taste is also dominated by light caramelized malt with clear notes of honey and light residual sugar with cereal notes also apparent. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Definitely sub-par compare to other offering form this brewery and this confirms that I prefer dubbel with candi sugar and more dominant esters.

The beer is brown in color with some red notes on the edge. Nice beige foamy head on top of it. Dense and sticky. Some bananas notes in the nose, caramel and dark fruits. The aroma is slightly complex. Sweet aroma too. I like it. The taste is dominated by caramel notes and the beer presents some sweetness notes. Some good bitterness in the finish. Interesting. Not the best Double, but a good one. Overall, the beer is good. It would be better with a bigger mouthfeel... at the moment, its pretty thin. Still good 'tho.

Appearance: It has a nice dark murky redish/brown color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately fast and leaves next to no lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of dark fruit (raisins and figs), sweet caramel, some honey and some bready yeast.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some dark fruit (raisins, figs and dates), alot of sweet caramel and honey and some malts.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

Served from a 500ml bottle to a tulip

A: Browish red color. One finger of head with moderate retention. Very clear and no floaties in the glass.

S: Figs, Dates, and dark pitted fruits along with sweet malts. Maybe a bit of brown sugar.

T: Sweet malts are very present along with the fruit mentioned in the smell. Raisins, dates, and figs being key. The brown sugar in the aroma was not so much present on the palate. I couldn't really taste the honey mentioned on the bottle either but that's understandable as honey leaves little flavor after fermentation.

M: Carbonation was a tad low for the style in my opinion. Fairly dry with a medium body. Alcohol is slightly noticeable.

O: Pretty decent beer overall. It was nice to drink one of. Not my favorite dubbel but a good introduction to the style.

Pours a dark tannish brown with a lot of yeasty cloudiness and a decent creamy tan head that sticks around okay. Good retention; okay lacing.

Doughy with sickly malty and really strong honey sweetness. Mainly, though, it smells like yeast.

Sweetish, yeasty, crispish, kind of gross. Not really much going on flavor-wise. A little honey, a little malt, a shit-ton of yeast.

Meh. Okay carbonation, too-light body.

Not really that good. It is pretty fresh too, so it might just not be my cup of tea. Good looking but not much else. Good enough that I can finish it, not good enough that I can enjoy it.
Would not get again.

500 ml bottle served cold into a chalice. Thanks Mom for picking this up in Sherbrooke.

Appearance - Hazy dark cola colored beer with auburn highlights. A small half finger of light tan head rests on top and fizzles away pretty quickly. Not much lacing either.

Smell - Cherry and honey are most prominent, some caramel in behind. Not the most aromatic nose when cold.Caramel becomes much more prominent as it warms.

Taste - Sweet-ish with lots of honey and some chocolate dipped booze soaked cherries in there too. A light roasty bit on the back end. A little more watery than many dubbels but it works here. Caramel becomes much more prominent as it warms.

Mouthfeel - Medium- heavy bodied, crisp carbonation, drying finish. Seems slightly more boozy than it actually is.

Overall - A pretty solid dubbel that I'd be happy to enjoy again, one of the two best beers brought back from the trip taht were new to me.
