Not much to look at given the lack of head but an aroma that is hoppy and fresh and an intense yet refreshing flavor that provides a rich and thick mouthfeel as well. A very enjoyable beer.

From XXXII. In Teku glass. Playing Broken Sword 5. Highly drinkable but with some notes between vegetal and metallic in the finish that doesnt completly convice me yet arent too displesant. Nearly 2 months after bb date.

BOTTLE: Green glass. Gold foil-ed over neck. Gold branded pry-off crown cap. Classic Czech diamond-shaped label art. 500ml format.

4.9% ABV. Best by 26.08.16. 12 degrees. Unfiltered.

Served cold into stemware. Reviewed live as a svetly beer (Bohemian lager, pale lager). Brief impressions below:

HEAD: ~1cm wide. Off-white colour. Nice consistency and complexion. Recedes somewhat quickly; the retention is a mere 2 minutes - average for the style. Leaves no lacing as it recedes.

BODY: Vibrant translucent gold. Transparent. Clean, with no visible yeast or sediment visible within.

Appears adequately carbonated. It's a decent appearance overall; nothing unique or special, but generally enticing.

AROMA: Crystal malt, pale malt, lightly fruity and floral hops. I wouldn't call it grassy. Sweetness is surprisingly high, raising questions about balance. Yeast profile is clean; I find no esters. Finishes seemingly dry, a bit like an Oktoberfest.

Aromatic intensity is average.

TASTE/TEXTURE: Follows the aroma, with fruity hops and sweet malts going big in the body, and some dryness finishing it out. Touches of floral hop notes are also present, but it's indeed quite sweet for a pale lager. The absence of grassy notes rules out any Saaz or Noble hopping - at least to the extent that you'd find in, say, a Czech pilsner. This is ultimately quite a simple one-dimensional brew, but while its depth of flavour is lacking I wouldn't call it shallow or reticent - just plain and overt, lacking any subtlety or nuance.

The sweetness throws it out of balance to my tastes, but it's not egregious. I do like it for what it is, and it boasts a cohesive flavour profile.

The mouthfeel is as straightforward as the flavour profile. Light-bodied, unrefreshing, smooth, wet, well rounded. Adequately carbonated, but not dialed in. It's not buttery, astringent, or harsh or anything, but it fails to accentuate specific notes in the flavour profile and to elevate the beer as a whole.

OVERALL: Not a gestalt whole of a beer, lacking true harmony of texture and taste. But it's drinkable and enjoyable in its simplicity. I'd much sooner reach for a Czech pilsner at this price point, but I'm not unhappy I tried this. Casual drinkers after a drinkable pale lager will find this serviceable, but the discerning drinker will be unimpressed. Extremely average.

It’s a decent bohemian pilsner wich works to quench the thirst with. Not as good as I would have hoped.

Format: embossed 500mL brown bottle, caged top. Standard boring euro label.

Appearance: light yellow in colour with a frothing head that quickly drops to a half-finger. Okay.

Aroma: nothing outrageous here, just some standard malts and a bit of yeast over the top.

Taste: follows the nose almost verbatim - not unpleasant, but I don't think it's as good as it's made out to be.

Aftertaste: lingers for a short period, but then dissipates. Not bad, since all you want is to quaff this stuff back. The price isn't too bad for a Euro lager, so why not?

Mouth feel: this almost ruined the beer for me. The carbonation is exteremely low for a lager, almost tastes flat. I'm thinking that the jostling it got on its trip from Sydney to Brisbane may not have helped the beer, so I won't pre-judge.

Overall: a particularly unbrilliant beer. Not much special going on, and the carbonation is way too low.
