Been to White Horse a few times, prefer the Tav down the street. The staff isn't too friendly, more interested in talking to regulars than getting to know new patrons, even if they're ordering and asking about lots of beer...eh hem. Decent selection, but even with only 5 taps, this bar that claims to be a craft bar and is followed as such often has Honeywiesse and LaBatt Blue on. But they do carry Surly regularly, and were the host for Darkness in St.Cloud. The food is great and worth the trip in and of itself.

Maybe my favorite bar in the St. Cloud area. Good selection of taps which rotate fairly regularly (mostly Surly and other MN beers). The food is typically very good. They have a diverse menu from pizza to curries to salads and more. All of it is very good from my experience. They have a decent list of bottled beer too, but nothing too out of the ordinary. The bottle list remains relatively constant. It can get quite busy in the evenings on weekends, but that's just a testament to their quality.

Spent the night in St. Cloud a couple days ago and was very impressed with the place. Great service. Great looking bar. Pretty much any available Surly on tap or in the can. I believe Surly taps.

It was on a Sunday night so was kind of quite, but it was a very nice experience.

Being a patron of this establishment since the beginning, I have a warm place in my heart for The Horse. However, if you go, go mid day if you want to hear your conversation. The selection of beers is nothing to turn your nose up at. With the combination of bottles and taps, you definitely will not get bored. The food is much more than standard pub fare. Surprising is how I would describe it. The boothes are repurposed church pews.

As of now, it appears as if White Horse is a one trick pony as far as interesting craft beer goes. Do they have Surly...yes, do they have limited Surly's...hell, yes! But the rest of the taps are average and the bottle list is lengthy, but below average. The place has a good feel and the staff is great (been here twice in two weeks). The food is exceptional, given that it walks the line closer to being a straight up bar.

I also reviewed the Tav and between these two bars, either could be the one great beer bar in St. Cloud. The Tav has a better selection (as of this review) and has put in some effort targeting BA types. But White Horse has what could be a perfect atmosphere and menu for a great beer bar and even knows that they are drawing the crowds with the Surly. They just need to rethink their beer lists from top to bottom.

To start off I went here in late October, early November... I have a bunch of chicken scratch written down from multiple samples/places that i'm gunna try and start putting on here so... I Went here to get me some Darkness I made it to darkness day, but i just couldnt get enough of this brew. We sat down and immediately had the bartender asking us if we needed a menu or a drink to start off. There was someone playing the guitar which was actually a pleasant suprise. Darkness was obviously great, it cost a little more than id like to admit but that should be expected. The person I was with got your standard bud light and cost the same as most anywhere else, food smelled great though i didnt have any. I glanced through the beer menu and it seemed ok, nothing amazing but better than your average bar for the area. Good experience over all, will go again for sure.
